CARELL WANTS ANCHORMAN 2
Comedian STEVE CARELL is urging movie studio bosses to reconsider making a sequel to ANCHORMAN because he’s convinced a second installment will be as good as the original.
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, starring Will Ferrell in the tit le role, was a hit when it was released in 2004, raking in $90 million (=C2 =A360 million) in revenue on a relatively small budget of $26 million (=C2 =A317.3 million).
Plans for Anchorman 2 were subsequently announced but the idea was shel ved by Paramount executives after they rejected director Adam McKay’s $60 million (=C2=A340 million) request for funds.
But Carell, who co-starred in the comedy with Ferrell and Paul Rudd, wa nts Paramount bosses to rethink their decision.
He tells EmpireOnline.com, "I selfishly want to do it again just for th e fun of it. And I think it could be as playful and as fun as the origina l."
