BILL MURRAY was left bleeding from a nasty head wound after injuring hims elf during a ‘dumpster dive’ stunt for a U.S. TV show on Wednesday (21Jul 10).
The Ghostbusters funnyman leaped into a makeshift dumpster swimming poo l filled with garbage as part of a skit for the Late Show with David Lett erman to mock official plans for trash-bin swimming holes in New York Cit y.
But Murray’s funny moment went awry when he banged his head in the jump and staggered back on to the show’s set covered in blood.
The actor bravely continued his interview with the host, and producers were able to patch up his injury during a break in filming.
A rep tells the New York Post, "He did hit his head on the dumpster and was bleeding during the interview with Letterman, but the producers patc hed him up in the commercial break." Murray later cancelled plans to attend a screening of his new film Get Low in Manhattan in order to recover from his traumatic day.

TOM CRUISE is trying to convince DAVID BECKHAM to break into the movie in dustry - because his pal has "got the looks" to be a Hollywood actor.
The Top Gun star has been close friends with the soccer player and his wife Victoria since they met in 2003.

Singing veteran SIR TOM JONES has been ordered to re-take his driving tes t now he has reached the age of 70.
The Welsh crooner celebrated the milestone birthday in June (10), but d espite holding a British licence, Jones has been told he must take anothe r exam if he wants to continue driving in America, where he lives.
The What’s New Pussycat hitmaker will also have to undergo an eye test and a written assessment, but the star is adamant he will pass.
He says, "I feel prepared. I’ve been driving since I was 25 and I’ve re -read the book. There’s not much more I can do. They’ll certainly have a shock when I get in the car." And even if he fails the re-examination, the singer has a back-up plan: "I tend to fly places or have a tour bus. Then you only need a limo to c ollect you from the airport."

British rocker BOB GELDOF has followed in the footsteps of ORLANDO BLOOM by accepting an honorary degree from a university in England for his cont ribution to culture.
The former Boomtown Rats star donned a traditional cap and gown when he was presented with the Master of Arts accolade by officials at the Unive rsity of Kent in Canterbury on Thursday (22Jul10) - where Bloom picked up the same honour earlier this month (Jul10).
And Geldof was thrilled to accept the degree, because he lives in the l ocal area.
The Live Aid organiser says, "It’s great to also receive recognition fr om UCA for the creative work that I’ve been doing for the past 35 years. I live up the road, so to be recognised by a local university, in the reg ion that I love, adds even greater significance for me. I wouldn’t have a ccepted this award if it didn’t mean anything to me."

Blues musician PHILLIP WALKER has died, aged 73.
The American singer and guitarist passed away from apparent heart failu re on Thursday (22Jul10), representatives from his record label have conf irmed.
A statement from Delta Groove Productions reads, "It is with deepest so rrow that we report on the sudden and unexpected passing of legendary blu es guitarist Phillip Walker. He died of apparent heart failure at 4:30 AM , early Thursday morning, July 22, 2010. He was 73 years old." Throughout his lengthy career, Walker most notably backed singer Etta J ames and was known for his 1959 hit single Hello My Darling.

KASABIAN rocker SERGE PIZZORNO is convinced his wife will give birth duri ng the band’s headlining slot at a British music festival in August (10) - but he’s adamant he will still take the stage.
The guitarist’s childhood sweetheart Amy is due to give birth to the co uple’s first child two weeks after the group’s gig at V Festival next mon th (22-23Aug10) and Pizzorno fears she will go into labour early.
But the musician insists if she does, he will finish his set and join h is partner in hospital afterwards.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "Everyone tells me that first babies are al ways late. But I’m sure we’re going to be jinxed. Amy will have two weeks to go when we play V. It will be sod’s law if I’m on stage and her mum a nd dad have to take her to hospital - but I’ll rush there as soon as the gig is over!"

Teen pop sensation JUSTIN BIEBER can soon add acting to his list of talen ts - he’s signed up to guest star in U.S. TV show CSI: CRIME SCENE INVEST IGATION.
The Baby hitmaker will play "a troubled teen who is faced with a terrib le decision regarding his only brother" in the first episode of the upcom ing 11th season in September (10).
It is unknown how many shows will feature the 16 year old, but a CBS sp okesperson reveals Bieber’s character will be involved in "an emotional s tory that will conclude later in the season." Bieber’s debut will air on 23 September (10).

Rocker JANI LANE has opened up about his jail sentence for driving under the influence (DUI), insisting he’s "extremely remorseful" but he will "b e back".
The former Warrant frontman has been sentenced to 120 days in prison af ter pleading no contest to DUI following a May (10) arrest for crashing i nto a parked car while driving in Woodland Hills, California.
Lane has publicly thanked his family for supporting him through the try ing time and the rocker insists he has learned from the "wake-up call".
In a statement he says, "I’m extremely remorseful about how this has af fected my family, friends and fans. I have done a ton of soul searching. This is not a situation I ever dreamed of finding myself in, but here I a m. I will walk through this and take it as a wake-up call.
"I believe everything happens for a reason. This comes at a time when I am writing some of the best music of my life. I intend to ‘man up,’ get through this and release something new in the fall-winter of this year…
"I want to thank all my friends and fans who have expressed their amazi ng support, and especially my wife and children, who continue to surround me with love. This is one of the most trying times and yet enlightening that I’ve ever faced. I’ll be back… and more determined than ever." In addition to the jail stint, Lane’s driving license has been taken aw ay for three years and he has been ordered to complete a 30-month alcohol education program.
He is expected to surrender for prison on 27 July (10).

Rapper T.I. is to wed his long term girlfriend TAMEKA ‘TINY’ COTTLE this weekend (24-25Jul10) in Hawaii, according to U.S. reports.
The Live Your Life hitmaker, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., has been d ating former Xscape singer Cottle since 2001 and the couple has two sons together.

ROBERT DUVALL had the cast and crew on new movie GET LOW cowering in fear whenever they were around him - because THE GODFATHER icon was an intim idating "time bomb", according to co-star BILL MURRAY.
The actor admits he was struck by Duvall’s presence on the film set - b ut he refused to walk on egg shells around the star like the rest of the crew and tried to engage him in some playful banter.
He explains, "(There was) tension around the set. This guy is a time bo mb and the ticking is audible. And so I just remember being on the set an d the first day - this guy’s very serious… people are just (staying) 12 feet away from him. I don’t work that way. I try to be very loose and re laxed all the time. I just started - every take, in between - I was just messing with him." The Ghostbusters funnyman was convinced his co-star was going to lose h is temper until Duvall’s wife, Luciana Pedraza, encouraged the serious ac tor to lighten up - because she was tickled by Murray’s antics.
Murray recalls: "I figured he’s gonna hit me anyway, I might as well ge t it over with… Turned out his wife thought I was funny. So that was it , I was done. I kept thinking he’s gonna come in with a big piece of meta l and take it right over my head. But then she walked in the room and she said (to Duvall), ‘He’s good, he’s funny, just go along with it.’ So tha t’s what happened I guess."

CAMERON DIAZ dreams of swapping Hollywood for a simple life on a farm so she can get back to basics and grow her own food.
The Charlie’s Angels star, who has travelled the world as a model and a ctress, is considering retiring to the countryside for a year to learn ho w to grow crops and raise livestock.
Diaz admits she has already begun researching agriculture and is waitin g for the right moment to step out of the spotlight.
She tells Britain’s Daily Telegraph, "I don’t want to say I’ve seen it all because this world is so vast, but I’ve always been on the move, and what I’d love to do is spend a whole year in one place, actually on a far m, where I get to raise my own crops and my own livestock and for once in my life see just how life is cultivated.
"It’s almost like this primal thing. I really just feel like the earth is where we all come from, and we have nothing if we don’t have soil and water and sun. I’ve read a lot about agriculture, and I feel the need ins ide me to work with the earth in some way. I guess it would be like a pai nter having to paint."

A rep for British actress BILLIE PIPER has hit back at anti-smoking campa igners who blasted the star after she was photographed lighting up near h er son, insisting the images are "misleading".
The Secret Diary of a Call Girl star was photographed puffing on a ciga rette as she sat with her 21-month old son Winston in a pub garden in Lon don this week (beg19Jul10).
The pictures, which showed the tot apparently close to a cloud of smoke , infuriated health advocates, who slammed Piper for putting her child’s health at risk.
But the actress’ spokesperson insists Piper was not as close to her son as the pictures appear to show.
A statement reads, "Billie is a responsible parent who values her child ’s health above all else. Though a smoker, she is careful to only do so o utside and with consideration to those around her. Due to the angle from which it is taken, the picture is misleading. It does not give a true sen se of perspective in relation to the proximity of her son."

BRAD PITT is set to destroy zombies in WORLD WAR Z if comic book icon MAX BROOKS gets his way.
While his partner Angelina Jolie was wowing fans on the opening day of this year’s Comic-Con comic book convention in San Diego, California, Pit t was part of major news as Brooks revealed the movie stud was his first choice to front the adaptation of the post-apocalyptic zombie horror nove l.
Pitt’s production company, Plan B, reportedly picked up the rights to W orld War Z in 2007, beating out Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way.
Brooks told MTV News that Quantum of Solace’s Marc Forster will direct the zombie action film, which is set for a 2012 release.

ELIZABETH TAYLOR has dismissed reports ANGELINA JOLIE and CATHERINE ZETA- JONES are battling it out to portray her in a movie biopic, insisting no actress will be allowed to take the part during her lifetime.
Rumours began swirling earlier this month (Jul10) linking the two Oscar winners to a film adaptation of Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger’s boo k Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century.
Russell Crowe, Clive Owen and Colin Farrell were among the big names be ing suggested as possible Burtons, while Mike Nichols was named as a favo ured director.
But Taylor has now slammed the speculation, insisting there is no movie and she would never let such a project go ahead.

A legal battle between two movie companies involved with Oscar-winning fi lm PRECIOUS has been "amicably resolved" out of court.
Executives at production powerhouses Lionsgate Films and The Weinstein Co. sued each other in February last year (09) over rights to 2009’s Prec ious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.
A notice of dismissal was filed in Los Angeles on Thursday (22Jul10) an d Lionsgate attorney Matthew Gershman has confirmed movie bosses managed to thrash out a deal.
The lawyer tells Reuters, "The matter was amicably resolved to both par ties’ mutual satisfaction." No details about the agreement have been issued.
