ELTON JOHN continues to help rap pal EMINEM with his battle to stay sober by calling him once a week.
The rapper reached out to Elton, who he performed with at the 2001 Gram my Awards, and asked the British rocker to unofficially counsel him as he attempted to get clean after a four year hell of painkiller abuse.
The hip-hop star felt Elton’s past battles to kick his drug habit would serve as lessons for him - and he was right. So much so that he still lo oks forward to his pal’s weekly chats.
He tells Spin magazine, "Elton John calls me once a week. He used to te ll me stuff like, ‘You’re going to start seeing certain things you’ve bee n overlooking’. And it came true.
"I’d walk around like, ‘Damn, that tree does look crazy, look at all th ose leaves!’ Things I didn’t notice when I was f**ked up."

AEROSMITH guitar great JOE PERRY is contemplating retirement - because th ere’s nothing else left for him to achieve as a rock star.

British pop sensations LA ROUX have scrapped the remainder of their U.S. tour after singer ELLY JACKSON was told she was too ill to perform.
The Bulletproof hitmakers made the announcement on their Facebook page, revealing Jackson has pharyngitis.
The statement reads, "Her doctor has advised her to rest for three week s so unfortunately she=E2=80=99ll be unable to continue with her American tour.
"We are endeavouring to reschedule as many of the cancelled shows for N ovember as possible. An announcement will be made shortly."

Fired TWILIGHT star RACHELLE LEFEVRE has had a career boost - she’ll be p art of the cast of a new TV medical drama created by the brains behind GR EY’S ANATOMY.
The actress, who played vampire villain Victoria in the first two Twili ghts, will be part of Shonda Rimes’ new show Off The Map.

The gay comedian, 45, wed his longtime partner Jamison Hebert in 2008, when same sex marriage was briefly made legal in California, and the coup le recently added to the family after taking in a five-year-old boy.
Mapa broke the news during an appearance on U.S. talk show The View on Friday (23Jul10), stating, "We became foster adopt parents this year. My husband’s white, my son’s black, I’m Asian!" HALLE BERRY received a visit from Los Angeles police on Friday (23Jul10) after reporting a little spiritual graffiti on the front gate of her hous e.
The Oscar winner woke up on Friday morning to find a random portrait of Indian spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi spray painted onto the gate and c ops were called to investigate.
Detectives are looking into the vandalism case but have yet to identify any suspects, according to TMZ.com.

Cancer survivor MICHAEL C. HALL is back on the set of hit TV drama DEXTER after winning his fight against the disease earlier this year (10).
The actor appeared healthy and happy as he attended the Comic-Con conve ntion in San Diego, California on Friday (23Jul10), telling fans he’s gra teful to everyone who supported him through his battle with Hodgkin’s lym phoma.
The 39-year-old star said, "It’s a real gift to be able to go back to w ork.
"One of the best things about this (disease) is that it emerged at a ti me when we were close to the end of shooting. I was able to treat it over the hiatus and it didn’t interrupt our production schedule, which would have had a big effect on our cast, our crew, people who count on this fam ily to keep making the show."

In recent weeks, the legal spat turned really nasty when audio of Gibso n hurling insults at his ex as she accused him of attacking her and knock ing out a tooth was leaked to the media.
The movie star countered by claiming his ex had tried to extort him ove r the taped phone audio.
Police in Los Angeles are currently investigating both Grigorieva’s dom estic violence claims and Gibson’s extortion allegations.
Neither has spoken to the media about the ongoing battle - until now.

LINDSAY LOHAN’s furious father is planning to start next week as a very s ingle man after his now ex-fiancee filed a police report suggesting the t roubled dad abused her.
Michael Lohan insists he’ll spend the weekend trying to gain access to his estranged daughter, who is serving 90 days behind bars in Los Angeles for a parole violation, before flying home to New York to deal with his messy private life.
Lohan plans to file a restraining order against ex-fiancee Kate Major a s soon as he touches down in the Big Apple on Monday (26Jul10).
Major has accused Lohan of pushing her over a chair and kicking her whi le she was on the ground. Police have charged Lohan with second degree ha rassment.

Surgical instruments allegedly used to conduct ELVIS PRESLEY’s autopsy ha ve been removed from an upcoming auction amid doubts about the macabre it ems’ authenticity.
The controversial auction was due to feature forceps, needle injectors, aneurysm hooks, an arterial tube, and lip brushes said to have been used to prepare The King’s body for burial following his death in 1977.
The sale also was set to include rubber gloves, a comb, eye liner, and even a toe tag for identifying Presley’s corpse in the morgue.
The instruments were expected to sell for a total of $14,000 (=C2=A39,3 00) when they went under the hammer in August (10), but officials at Chic ago, Illinois’ Leslie Hindman Auctioneers have withdrawn the items follow ing queries about their legitimacy.
The memorabilia was reportedly kept by an unnamed senior embalmer at th e Memphis Funeral Home where the rock ‘n’ roll legend’s body was stored, prior to his funeral - but the retiree’s claims were called into question after another employee suggested the equipment was sterilised and used a gain in other autopsies.
