AEROSMITH star JOE PERRY is adamant he was deadly serious about replacing STEVEN TYLER when the frontman shocked his bandmates and fans by announc ing plans to take time off last year (09).
Perry admits he knew his songwriting partner wouldn’t be gone for long, but he was committed to finding a stand-in so the band could honour a st ring of 2010 shows - just in case.
And he tells Guitar World magazine he really would have hit the road wi th another singer if Tyler’s hiatus had continued.
Perry says, "I was just looking at it as working with somebody and jamm ing, as a temporary thing.
"People were flipping out, like, ‘It’s not going to be Aerosmith.’ Well , no s**t. You don’t have to tell me that. But who knows what could have come of it? "I knew he (Tyler) would come back. I just didn’t know when. But I was glad it was sooner rather than later." Tyler returned to front the band after a rehab stint and now admits he and Perry have patched up their differences.
He explains, "It was a real trying time for me. We (Perry and I) didn’t speak to each other for a while… and Joe just decided to look for anot her singer. I don’t know what he was thinking, but we’ve since made amend s to each other and, more importantly, the band’s playing better." Aerosmith kicked off the North American leg of their world tour on Frid ay night (23Jul10) with a show in Oakland, California.

Kind-hearted rocker JON BON JOVI is sharing his passion for soccer with h is Australian fans by donating tickets to see his favourite team.
The Bon Jovi star has shown his support for Melbourne Heart Football Cl ub by purchasing four premium memberships and he has promised to share th e seats with the team’s followers who "don’t have the financial means" to attend.
The singer, who previously owned American soccer team Philadelphia Soul , will give the tickets away ahead of every home game.
He says in a statement, "I like to think I pour my heart into whatever I do, so supporting Melbourne Heart FC seemed pretty natural… but I wan ted to see if I could share that feeling a little, especially with Heart fans that maybe have the heart but not the opportunity to show their supp ort."

CHARLIE RICH’s songwriter widow has died at the age of 76.
Margaret Ann Rich, who wrote a string of successful tracks for her famo us husband, passed away on Thursday (22Jul10) at her home near Memphis, T ennessee following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
The country music star, who died in 1995, recorded many of his wife’s s ongs, including A Sunday Kind of Woman and Nothing In the World, which fe atured on his most famous album, 1973’s Behind Closed Doors.
Margaret Ann Rich, who was married to the star for 43 years, also wrote numerous songs for other big name artists including Sir Tom Jones, Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge.
She is survived by two children and six grandchildren, according to Reu ters.

Irish rockers U2 have forced executives at Italian soccer club Juventus t o move an upcoming game after the stadium was double-booked.
The band will make its comeback at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, Italy on 6 August (10), after Bono’s back injury forced the group to scrap a se ries of shows, including a headline slot at Britain’s Glastonbury festiva l last month (Jun10).
U2 will spend the next two weeks at the venue rehearsing for their live return, but bosses at the football club have been left rearranging their calendar after realising the band’s gig had been booked for the same day as Juventus’ Europa League clash with Irish side Shamrock Rovers.
The soccer match has now been moved to a different venue in Modena, Ita ly, while the U2 gig will go ahead as planned at the Stadio Olimpico.
Shamrock Rovers chairman Jonathan Roche tells the Irish Times, "Apparen tly U2 have the stadium booked as part of their European tour so the venu e is being moved to Modena."

N-DUBZ drummer AARON FAGAN was back in court on Friday (23Jul10) to face trial over allegations he sexually assaulted a female fan after a gig in Scotland.
The 25-year-old musician was arrested following the British rap group’s performance in Glasgow in October (09) after a 20-year-old woman alleged he had groped her at an aftershow party.
The fan, who can’t be named for legal reasons, testified at Glasgow She riff Court on Friday (23Jul10) and claimed Fagan approached her outside t he venue and invited her and a friend to a bash at Strathclyde University students’ union, where he allegedly grabbed her.
She told the court, "He asked if I wanted to go to an N-Dubz afterparty .. He then put his arms over our shoulders and started leading us up the s tairway.
"As we were climbing the stairs he took his hand away from my neck and put it on my bottom and started grabbing at it.
"We carried on climbing the stairs and he hit my friend on the bum too.
He then moved round behind me and with both arms reaching round from beh ind, started to grab my breasts." Fagan denies sexually assaulting the girl and her friend, as well as an other charge of breaching the peace by making indecent remarks.
The trial continues next week (beg26Jul10).

CHRISTINA MILIAN has launched a legal challenge to THE-DREAM’s petition f or divorce - alleging her estranged husband was unfaithful during their m arriage.
The singer/producer filed for divorce just nine days before Milian gave birth to their first child, daughter Violet, in February (10), insisting their relationship was "irretrievably broken".
The documents filed by The-Dream - real name Terius Nash - claimed the couple had legally separated when he applied to make the split official, but Milian has fired back insisting they were still together.
The singer’s lawyers filed papers in Georgia last week (beg12Jul10) cla iming the couple had "marital relations on numerous occasions" after The- Dream claimed they had separated.
The legal challenge also alleges the marriage broke down because The-Dr eam was unfaithful, according to TMZ.com.
Milian is also reportedly urging the judge overseeing the case to disre gard papers she signed agreeing a divorce settlement, insisting the docum ents were presented to her when she was nine months pregnant and in no fi t state to make such an important decision.

SEX AND THE CITY star KRISTIN DAVIS has conceded fans are unlikely to see the series back on the big screen for a third time - because talk of ano ther sequel is "not looking great".
The popular TV show was adapted into a movie in 2008 and this year (10) saw the release of a follow-up.
But fans hoping for a third outing in the franchise may be disappointed - Davis is convinced scathing reviews from critics will discourage produ cers from making a third film.
When asked whether there will be another movie, she tells E! Online, "I don’t think so, not that I know of. I wish it was so that we were contin uing but I don’t know. We made 300 million (dollars) internationally. The re was so much hype, not coming from us, but the media hyped it up and th en they tore it down.

The newlyweds exchanged vows on Thursday (22Jul10) after a brief Caribb ean break masked as a Victoria’s Secret photoshoot.
Australian model Kerr was working on Anguilla for the lingerie company, but in between shoots, she relaxed with Bloom, who checked into Viceroy Anguilla resort to hang out with his wife-to-be.

Teenage reality TV star ALEXIS NEIERS has been freed from prison after se rving just four weeks of a 180-day sentence for her part in the so-called ‘bling-ring’ burglaries.
The 19 year old was locked up last month (Jun10) after pleading no cont est to a single count of first-degree residential burglary relating to a raid on Orlando Bloom’s home.
She served her time at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwo od, California and spent the last few days of her jail stint in the same facility as Lindsay Lohan, whose home is also said to have been targeted by the ‘bling ring’ burglary crew that raided celebrity houses for jewell ery, clothing and keepsakes.

WESLEY SNIPES’ lawyers have moved to further delay the actor’s jail sente nce - they have filed a court motion asking to question the jurors who co nvicted the star on tax evasion charges.
The Blade actor lost an appeal against his three-year jail term earlier this month (Jul10) after a 2008 trial found him guilty of three misdemea nour counts of wilful failure to file his income tax returns.
Prosecutors this week (21Jul10) urged the judge overseeing the case to revoke Snipes’ bail and send him to prison immediately to begin his sente nce.
The star’s legal team has hit back by filing a motion on Friday (23Jul1 0) asking permission to question jurors involved in his trial to find out whether they had pre-determined his guilt before the case was heard in c ourt.
The motion claims Snipes’ attorney Daniel Meachum received an email fro m an unnamed juror alleging three others on the panel had presumed Snipe’ s guilt, which would constitute a breach of his right to a fair trial, ac cording to the Associated Press.

ZSA ZSA GABOR’s fans have been left confused following her health scare t his week (ends24Jul10) amid conflicting reports over the actress’ conditi on.
The 93-year-old star was reportedly fighting for her life at a hospital in California on Friday (23Jul10) just days after undergoing hip-replace ment surgery, with some online reports suggesting she had suffered a stro ke.
A statement from Gabor’s publicist, John Blanchette, sparked fears for the worst by revealing the Hollywood veteran is in a "critical condition" at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
He explained, "She is still in the hospital in critical condition. Her husband talked to her doctors yesterday and they said that she is not res ponding and not communicating." Gabor’s husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, added, "The doctors want t o observe her over the weekend to make sure her condition improves, but r ight now it is not looking good." But the actress’ daughter, Constance Francesca Hilton, contradicted the reports in a statement to Reuters, claiming her mother is recovering wel l.
She said, "She is not in a coma. She is not on any kind of death watch.

Actor CASEY AFFLECK has been accused of sexual harassment by a producer o f his quirky documentary about brother-in-law JOAQUIN PHOENIX’s attempts to become a rap star.
Amanda White claims Affleck acted inappropriately while directing I’m S till Here and she is suing him for $2 million (GBP1.3 million).
In papers filed in Los Angeles on Friday (23Jul10), White alleges she e ndured "uninvited and unwelcome sexual advances in the workplace" while m aking the movie.
She claims Affleck referred to women as ‘cows’ and discussed his sexual exploits in front of her. The producer also alleges Affleck, who is marr ied to Phoenix’s sister Summer, and the film’s star took over her hotel r oom in Costa Rica one night to entertain two women; and the director atte mpted to get her to spend the night with him in his hotel room in San Fra ncisco, California.
In the lawsuit, White claims Affleck became "hostile and aggressive" wh en she turned him down and "violently grabbed her arm in an effort to int imidate her into staying." The producer has a list of damages, which includes sexual harassment, b reach of oral contract and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
She also claims Affleck owes her money for her services as producer on I’m Still Here.
Affleck’s attorney tells UsMagazine.com, "Ms. White was terminated from the production over a year ago. She and her lawyers believe that this ma liciously and erroneously filed complaint will cause the producers to suc cumb to her outrageous and baseless demands. She is mistaken. The complai nt will be vigorously defended and cross-claims will be filed against her .." The suit comes a week after bosses at Magnolia Pictures claimed the dis tribution rights to the documentary and announced plans to release the fi lm in September (10).

The actor, who is actress Emma Roberts’ father, has joined the cast of the new season of reality TV show Celebrity Rehab, where celebrity counse llor Dr. Drew Pinsky will attempt to help the star battle his substance a buse demons once and for all.
The details of the actor’s addiction problem are hazy, but his publicis t Chuck Jones tells WENN, "It’s not for anything serious. He’s not hooked on prescription meds or hard drugs or anything like that." A spokesman for Roberts’ new film Rock Slyde says, "It’s ironic that Er ic is going through the same Celebrity Rehab experience as Andy Dick, his co-star in the film.
"They certainly never bonded on the set and chatted about anything like this. It’s a complete surprise. No one knew Eric had a problem."
