Rockers KINGS OF LEON were forced to abandon a concert in St. Louis, Miss ouri on Friday night (23Jul10) after they became targets for pooing pigeo ns.
The Sex on Fire group attempted to play on as the birds let the bandmat es know what they though of their music, but when bassist Jared Followill was hit in the face three songs into the set, the act left the stage at the Verizon Amphitheatre.
A spokesman for the band’s management says, "It was disgusting and it’s a toxic health hazard. They (band) really tried to hang in there." According to reports, the birds were resting in the rafters of the outd oor venue and when the group started playing, they fled - firing dirty mi ssiles at the bandmates as they flew off.
Followill tells CNN, "I was hit by pigeons on each of the first three s ongs. We had 20 songs on the set list. By the end of the show, I would ha ve been covered from head to toe.
"The last thing I was going to do was look up… We must have caught th em right after a big Thanksgiving dinner." The band has since apologised to fans, insisting they plan to reschedul e the show.
A Twitter.com statement reads, "We had to bail, pigeons sh**ting in Jar ed’s mouth. Too unsanitary to continue.
"Don’t take it out on Jared, it’s the f**king venues fault. You may enj oy being s**t on but we don’t. Sorry for all who travelled many miles." (

Organisers of Germany’s annual Love Parade festival have chosen not to st age the event again after chaos broke out in Duisburg on Saturday (24Jul1 0) and left 19 revellers dead.
The music fans died in a crush as organisers attempted to open an area to accommodate swelling crowds. Hundreds more were left seriously injured and some had to be airlifted to hospitals across Germany.
City officials and promoters have been criticised for seriously underes timating the size of the crowd - they expected 700,000 people to attend t he dance music celebration but twice as many fans showed up.
One festival organiser, Rainer Schaller, announced 2010’s Love Parade w ould be the last at a press conference on Sunday (25Jul10).
He said, "It will always be overshadowed by yesterday’s events. It’s ov er for the Love Parade." DJ Matthias Roeingh, who founded the festival in 1989, added, "This abs olutely didn’t need to happen. I put a lot of blame on the organisers." Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has called for a thorough investigat ion of what went wrong, stating, "We have to do everything we can so that something like this isn’t repeated." The deaths occurred in an underpass that was opened to allow crowds to move from one overcrowded site to another venue.
Ironically, last year’s (09) Love Parade in Bochum was cancelled after city officials determined that they didn’t have a site large enough to ho ld the potential crowd.

Actress AMANDA BYNES has reversed her decision to quit the film business because she thinks she is too young to retire.
The Hairspray star recently announced her plans to quit acting in a Twi tter.com post, revealing she no longer enjoyed it.

New films featuring ROBERT DE NIRO and PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN have been c aught up in the latest Hollywood studio crisis as the company behind the movies shuts down.
Bosses at indie studio Overture Films have failed to raise the necessar y investment to continue business and will cease making films.
Relativity Media has taken over the company’s marketing and distributio n operations and will retain staff to help make sure De Niro’s new film S tone, Hoffman’s directorial debut Jack Goes Boating and much-anticipated horror film Let Me In get proper releases as planned.
Overture Films will shut down completely following the release of the t hree movies, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Overture’s films have included George Clooney’s war comedy The Men Who Stare at Goats, Brooklyn’s Finest, Righteous Kill, Last Chance Harvey and Law Abiding Citizen.

Cancer survivor CHRISTINA APPLEGATE is launching a charity to help at-ris k women who can’t afford the proper preventative care.
The Anchorman star will launch Right Action For Women in September (10) and hopes the project will aid women get any cancer detected early.
She tells WENN, "It’s a programme giving financial aid to high-risk wom en who can’t afford to get MRIs, which is how I found my cancer.
"It’s unfortunate that insurance companies (in America) don’t cover the cost of that. It’s such an incredible device because you can find it at an early detection stage. We started our pilot programme and started help ing women already, even though we aren’t launched.
"The other aspect of the programme is to do genetic counselling and hel p women understand what being high-risk means, and understanding what foo ds are good for their bloods and how to prevent this disease from happeni ng. That has been my mission." It’s a happy time for Applegate - as well as launching the new charity drive, she also has new films coming out and recently announced she is ex pecting her first child.

Beloved Irish sportsman ALEX HIGGINS has died at the age of 61.
The former world snooker champion battled throat cancer in his final ye ars and appeared ravaged by the disease.
His body was found in a flat in his native Belfast, Northern Ireland, a ccording to reports.
Higgins, nicknamed Hurricane for the speed of his game, had a reputatio n as a bad boy on the snooker circuit, often appearing dishevelled at tou rnaments and rarely appeared without alcohol and a cigarette.
He was once briefly banned from tournament play after headbutting a ref eree.
Higgins won the snooker World Championship in 1972 and 1982.

MARK RUFFALO confirmed reports he’ll go green and mean as the Hulk as he joined the cast of THE AVENGERS at Comic-Con International on Saturday (2 4Jul10).
Over 6,000 fans gathered at a Marvel Studios presentation at the San Di ego, California comic book convention and just as the discussion was conc luding, Samuel L. Jackson appeared onstage to introduce The Avengers cast ..
He brought out special guests Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johannson, Chris He msworth and Chris Evans.
He then introduced Iron Man Robert Downey Jr., who brought with him the rest of the cast, including Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Bruce Banner - the Hulk’s mild-mannered alter-ego.
Ruffalo was tipped for the role in the upcoming superhero movie after s tudio bosses chose not to continue the franchise with Edward Norton, who played the Hulk in a 2008 film.
The actor said, "It’s like Hamlet or Romeo and Juliet - a new actor get s a crack at it every year. But really it’s all heady stuff. It’s excitin g to be here. It’s great to be a part of all this." The Avengers, based on the comic books of the same name, is due in thea tres in 2012.
Saturday was also a big day for another comic book franchise at Comic-C on 2010 - Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong jo ined director Martin Campbell for a much-anticipated panel discussion abo ut The Green Lantern, and thrilled fans, many of whom had camped overnigh t for prime seats, by presenting a clip from the film.
Campbell revealed the storyline for the film is set, but Reynolds’ Gree n Lantern costume remains "a work in progress".

Presser says, "Lindsay would lie there shivering all night, crying and covering her face with her hands. Her wailing was keeping everyone awake.
… She had a hysterical fit, crying and yelling, so she got put in isolat ion." But it’s not all bleak news behind bars for Lohan - her lawyer insists the actress has made friends in jail.
Shawn Chapman Holley says, "She has made friends and the deputies have treated her respectfully (and she them)." Lohan surrendered to authorities and began her 90-day jail stint last w eek (20Jul10). Her time has already been cut short and she is expected to be released at the beginning of August (10).
The actress was jailed after violating probation stemming from a 2007 D UI arrest.

Madonna has reportedly recruited U2 frontman Bono to perform at the Wal k Out of Poverty event, which will take place in September (10).

Veteran British singers CHAS & DAVE are cementing their reunion - by lend ing their hits to a stage show inspired by their music.
The duo announced earlier this month (Jul10) they’re teaming up once mo re for a farewell tour - but fans are in for an extra treat with new Lond on production Stop Dreamin’, which incorporates their songs.
Writer Ray Cooney created a script based on his parents’ lives and inco rporated the band’s music and lyrics into the plot.
He tells Britain’s Daily Star Sunday, "My son insisted I went to see th em (in concert) and I was bowled over. They are fantastic. I listened to all 26 of their CDs. They wrote good old knees-up (party) songs but also some very =C2=ADmoving numbers.
=E2=80=9CI decided to write my mother=E2=80=99s story and include Chas & Dave songs. It=E2=80=99s the most enjoyable thing I=E2=80=99ve ever don e." Chas & Dave called it quits last year (09) following the death of bass player Dave Peacock’s wife but have announced a reunion trek, due to star t in March (11).

Rapper ROMEO MILLER is a fashionable role model - he has launched his own clothing line promoting positive messages.
The 20-year-old star, son of former gangster rap icon Master P, is the founder of the College Boyys collection - with one line aimed at boys age d between two and seven, and another range for those aged eight to 20. Ea ch item of clothing features a morale-boosting message on the hang tags.
Miller, who is studying for his final year at the University of Souther n California, admits he got the idea to incorporate positivity into the d esigns from his dad.
He says, "When I was a kid, my dad use to write with a marker on my t-s hirt, ‘I’m going to college’ and that imprint stuck in my head and made a difference to me in my life, turning it into a reality.
"I want to implant the same positive message to young boys as they dres s themselves each day with a feeling of success. They can look in the mir ror at themselves with a positive goal in mind for their bright future kn owing that going to college can make a big difference in their lives." And Miller is doing his bit for the community by donating part of the p roceeds to local education programmes for at-risk youths.

British singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS is planning to slim down for his TAKE THAT comeback by signing up for a gruelling triathlon.
The pop star has rejoined the group and is set to embark on a tour with Take That, 15 years after he quit to pursue a solo career.
Williams admits he’s desperate to hit the road with the toned body he s ported in the boyband’s heyday and has embarked on a strict diet and exer cise routine to lose weight.
He’s even contemplating signing up for a triathlon with his girlfriend, Ayda Field, to shift the stubborn pounds.
Williams says, "I’ve been having these set meals with 1,800 calories a day. But the problem is then I get really hungry - even after 1,800 I’m s till starving. So I’ve been supplementing them with lots of chocolate and cake.

He tells Spin magazine, "I’m hearing this dude say some clever, witty s **t and I’m not doing it, so I feel f**ked up… (but) if I had done some thing like that (released a diss track)… Where they were at and where I was at, it would have been career suicide. They would have f**king murde red me."
