PERRY ESTATE BATTLE ENDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:30 pm

The children of late songwriter DARRELL ‘WAYNE’ PERRY have ended a longru nning legal battle with their aunt over the star’s estate.
The country musician, who wrote Tim McGraw’s hit Not a Moment Too Soon, passed away in 2005 at the age of 55 after succumbing to throat cancer.
Perry’s sister, Darlene Bishop, became executor of his estate but her m anagement was called into question by the late songwriter’s four children , who sued her in 2006 over allegations of fraud.
After four years of legal wrangling, a judge in Ohio has now ended the feud - ruling Bishop properly handled the money in the estate and agreein g to transfer Perry’s music catalogue to a trust for the children run by his 31-year-old son, Justin Jones.
The catalogue contains nearly 3,000 songs, most of which have not been published or performed.
Judge Randy Rogers at Butler County Probate allowed Bishop to keep a $2 60,000 (=C2=A3173,000) life insurance policy which her brother left her.
Jones says, "We’ve put the family feud behind us. There’s always going to be a scar there. But my main goal is… moving forward to keep my Dad’ s legacy and music alive." As well as McGraw’s 1994 hit, Perry’s writing credits also include Toby Keith’s 1996 song A Woman’s Touch and the Backstreet Boys’ Anywhere for You.
