MONTY PYTHON mastermind TERRY GILLIAM has signed on to direct a live webc ast of rock band ARCADE FIRE’s concert in New York next month (05Aug10).
The band will kick off American Express’ new Unstaged concert series wi th the show at Madison Square Garden.
The gig will be streamed live on YouTube.com.
Upcoming acts to beam gigs straight into cyberspace as part of the Unst aged series include The Roots and John Legend.

NEIL YOUNG’s longtime steel guitarist BEN KEITH has died, aged 73.
Keith played alongside the rocker for close to 40 years and also perfor med on Young classics like Heart of Gold and Old Man.
Young acknowledged Keith’s passing onstage during a show in Winnipeg, C anada on Monday night (26Jul10), stating, "This is for Ben Keith. His spi rit will live on." The rock legend then performed an emotionally-charged rendition of Old Man.
Before Keith became Young’s sideman, the multi-instrumentalist was a me mber of Nashville’s ‘A-Team’ - a collective of the city’s top session mus icians who performed on country classics sung by the likes of Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.
Keith first met Young when he was drafted in to the rocker’s band for a n appearance on the Johnny Cash Show, according to RollingStone.com.
He last performed with Young at the rocker’s annual Bridge School Benef it in October (09).

KATY PERRY brushes her teeth at least three times daily because she never wants to be accused of having bad breath.
The pop star admits she was too poor to take her dental hygiene serious ly when she was a child, but Britney Spears videos made her start brushin g religiously - and now she’s proud of her minty fresh breath and shining smile.
In a new YouTube.com interview, she says, "I brush my teeth all the tim e. I wanted them to be, like, Britney Spears-white. I used to grow up see ing her music videos and be like, ‘What does she do? Does she get a new s et of teeth all the time? They’re so white.’ "I’m really anal about that because I like good breath. A turn off for me with guys is, like, halitosis… I’m the kind of friend that’s like, ‘ Stick a piece of gum in your mouth, ‘cos I’m gonna save some friendships for you.’ "I’ll brush my teeth (after) breakfast, lunch and dinner… I did have 13 cavities at one time, so you can imagine why I’m so freaked out. When I was a kid I didn’t really go to the dentist a lot… and when I finall y went, they were like, ‘You might as well get a new set of teeth’." But, despite all her efforts, Perry fears she’ll never have the perfect smile.
She explains, "I have really jacked-up bottom teeth and I went to denti st to try and get it fixed… Thank God my lower lip covers my top lip…

Teen star SELENA GOMEZ has been forced to cancel two upcoming state fair concerts in Delaware and Ohio after straining her vocal chords.
The Wizards of Waverly Place star has pulled out of planned performance s at the Delaware State Fair on Wednesday (28Jul10) and the Ohio State Fa ir on Thursday (29Jul10).
The singer lost her voice on Monday (26Jul10) and had to use the latest technology during an appearance on U.S. late-night TV show Lopez Tonight to speak to host George Lopez.
The teen Latina refused to cancel her appearance on the show - and inst ead asked the host to send his questions ahead of time and programmed all her answers into a DynaVox robotic voice machine.
The Disney favourite began the awkward, disjointed chat by pressing a b utton and the DynaVox voice said, "I’m sorry, I’m so upset, but at least it’s funny, right?" The silent 18-year-old also used the odd device to explain how horrifie d she was to find three grey hairs on her head recently.
Her robot sidekick explained, "I freaked out. I ran to my mum and asked her what I should do. I asked if I should pluck them and she said I shou ldn’t - it’s bad luck." To thank her for not scrapping her appearance on his show and to celebr ate her recent 18th birthday, Lopez presented Gomez with a Wizard of Oz g ift basket - the film is the actress’ favourite.
The DynaVox device Gomez used on the show will be donated to Los Angele s’ Children’s Hospital.

LAURYN HILL jetted off to Africa to stage the first show of a much-antici pated comeback - the former FUGEES star performed at a festival in Kigali in Rwanda at the weekend (24Jul10).
The Killing Me Softly singer’s appearance at the FESPAD festival came h ours after a new song, Repercussions, was leaked online, suggesting the s tar is recording fresh material.
Hill performed a hits-heavy set in Kigali - her rendition of the Fugees ‘ Ready or Not was a highlight.
The singer will headline the Rock The Bells tour in North America next month (Aug10) with Snoop Dogg and A Tribe Called Quest.

DIANA ROSS’ niece has come forward to lay claim to a piece of MICHAEL JAC KSON’s estate, alleging she is the late King of Pop’s illegitimate love c hild.
Mocienne Petit Jackson, who lives in the Netherlands, has filed documen ts in Los Angeles County Superior Court asking a judge for permission to conduct a DNA test to prove her paternity claim.
The woman alleges she was conceived in 1975 when Jackson reportedly imp regnated her mother Barbara - Ross’ sister - when he was just 17 years ol d.
Petit Jackson also accuses the Thriller hitmaker’s mother, Katherine Ja ckson, of scheming to "abduct" her when she was nine in a bid to preserve the superstar’s "reputation".
The legal documents state her seven kidnappers were later murdered, acc ording to TMZ.com.
Petit Jackson, who says she has been diagnosed with Vitiligo - the same skin condition Michael Jackson suffered from, explains she’s taking cour t action now so she can "formally claim my part of my father’s inheritanc e".
She is also seeking to claim custody of the pop icon’s three children i n a bid to give them a "more normal life".
Katherine Jackson was handed full custody of her grandsons Prince Micha el and Prince Michael II, and her granddaughter Paris following the pop s uperstar’s death in June 2009.
Representatives for the both the Jackson and Ross families have yet to comment on the allegations.

TV prankster-turned-movie star JOHNNY KNOXVILLE turned bootlegger on late -night TV in America on Monday night (26Jul10) when he turned up for an a ppearance on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! with a jar of moonshine.
The Jackass star presented Kimmel with the distilled liquor and suggest ed the pair sip it through their interview.

New York theatre veteran PATTI LUPONE and BRIAN STOKES MITCHELL are to ta ke Spanish director PEDRO ALMODOVAR’s 1988 movie WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN to Broadway.
The film has been turned into a musical and will open in the Big Apple in October (10).

ANGELINA JOLIE "freaked out" her eldest son MADDOX when he came to visit her on the set of spy thriller SALT - because the Hollywood beauty was di sguised as a man.
The actress was frequently visited by her six kids during filming in Ne w York, but she admits one meeting with eight-year-old Maddox left the yo ungster shocked and confused after he was made to shake hands with a pers on dressed as a male naval officer - only to discover it was his famous m um.
Jolie recalls, "I said, ‘Honey, it’s mummy.’ I think I freaked him out.
" The star further stunned the boy when she proceeded to peel off her pro sthetics, removing the fake ears, hands and nose she dons for the action film.

Long’s on/off girlfriend Drew Barrymore, who plays his love interest in the quirky romantic comedy, admits the Live Free or Die Hard star had to bare his butt in several scenes - and was completely naked in one.
She says, "It’s funny because usually it’s the girl who’s naked. I was like, ‘That’s right b**ch, the tables are turned.’ It was a running joke in the movie.
"It’s (nudity) actually been trimmed down - there were more. There was one cut where you saw everything."

KELLY OSBOURNE is refusing to get herself another pet dog because she is so traumatised after losing her pooch Woody earlier this month (Jul10).
The 25-year-old reality TV star spent a weekend in Las Vegas to take he r mind off her split from fiance Luke Worrall after allegations he cheate d on her.
But she suffered another blow when she returned to find out her beloved Pomerian puppy had died.
Now the rock offspring has opened up about her heartache, revealing her mum Sharon broke down in tears when she learned of the dog’s death.
In her column in Britain’s Closer magazine, Osbourne writes, "I only ha d him for two months and the vet thinks he had a heart attack. It’s devas tating. He had health problems when I got him, but I nursed him and got u p in the night to feed him.

Irish rockers THE SCRIPT were inspired to write new music about the effec ts of the global economic crisis because their childhood pals couldn’t af ford to celebrate the group’s success after losing their jobs.
The Dublin-born band shot to fame with their eponymous debut album in 2 008 - at the height of the worldwide recession.
And the trio was shocked when they returned to their homeland to party with pals, only to find the country had been especially hard hit by the d ownturn.
Bassist Mark Sheehan tells Britain’s Daily Star, "We had all this succe ss and went back thinking we wanted to celebrate with all of our mates, w ho told us to ‘get a f**king real job.’ "Dublin was hit really, really hard and it seemed to stun every one a b it. We couldn’t share our experiences as our friends had lost their jobs.
It inspired a song about how we stripped all the material things back an d started connecting with each other again."

Jazz star AL JARREAU’s recovery is "going well" following his recent heal th scare and he could be released from hospital as soon as this weekend ( begs30Jul10), according to his doctor.
The 70-year-old Grammy winner had been receiving treatment at a hospita l in the French Alps following his collapse last week (22Jul10), moments before his set at a music festival in Barcelonnette.
He was transferred to La Timone medical centre in Marseille on Saturday (24Jul10) after the altitude caused problems with his breathing, but his condition has been steadily improving.
His cardiologist, Dr. Jean-Louis Bonnet, claims "everything’s going wel l" with his recovery and insists his "state of health is coming along qui te normally".
Bonnet suggests that if Jarreau’s health continues to improve, he might even be discharged in the next few days.

Mexican-American Taboo says he felt compelled to make a stand against t he new bill because he has a dark family history of Arizona racial abuse.
He explains, "My grandmother was born in Jerome, Arizona and she too wa s racially discriminated against, so I thought it was my call for action to be involved… I know that I’m not gonna change the law but hopefully the powers that be will see how important it is to myself and other artis ts to get involved and to stand up for such an injustice.
"I agree that there needs to be something done about the immigration pr oblem but this is not the solution.
"I actually performed in Arizona and I’m embarrassed and kind of appall ed that this would happen so soon right after I performed there and I gav e it up for the state. DENIS LEARY is heeding wildlife warnings around his Connecticut home afte r a surprise run-in with a wild black bear left him "screaming like an ei ght-year-old girl".
The Rescue Me star lives in rustic Roxbury with his wife Ann and the co uple’s two kids - but he never took strong warnings from neighbours about local wildlife seriously - until he was scared senseless by a recent enc ounter.
Leary reveals he had stepped out in his underwear for a morning coffee and a cigarette with his dogs when he saw a giant beast waiting in his dr iveway.
He says, "5:30 on a Sunday morning about a month ago… I get up, (get a) hot cup of coffee, go outside, have a cigarette… I’m in my underwear , not a bright thing to do either. And like that, a bear pops up in the d riveway out of the woods… It’s a huge black bear… He’s right in front of me." Now the actor is taking note of advice on how to cope with the bear pro blem in the neighbourhood because he doesn’t trust his instincts.
Leary explains, "The first thing they say (is) make yourself big. Me in my underwear, I look like an even bigger toothpick… Bears will eat you because their cubs are nearby but they will also eat you if you’re just an annoying guy… All of a sudden the bear looks at us and he just amble s off. I felt like I was a tall cow and I froze up."
