PITT SUGGESTED NAZI FROM BASTERDS AS JOLIE’S SALT HUSBAND
Befriending BRAD PITT on the set of hit film INGLORIOUS BASTERDS paid off for German actor AUGUST DIEHL - the movie star suggested he should play his partner ANGELINA JOLIE’s husband in her new thriller SALT.
Diehl played a Nazi in Inglorious Basterds and Pitt took a liking to th e European and championed him to play Jolie’s partner when director Phill ip Noyce was casting the role.
Noyce tells NBC’s PopCornBiz blog, "Brad had said what a strong actor h e was and we were looking for someone with no baggage. We wanted a fresh face - to keep the audience off guard.
"He was quite ruthless in Basterds… He=E2=80=99s just a great actor."
