HUCKNALL DEFENSIVE AFTER FACES BACKLASH
British singer MICK HUCKNALL has defended himself after fans criticised h is inclusion in THE FACES, insisting he’s replacing ROD STEWART because t he MAGGIE MAY star can no longer hit the high notes.
The former Simply Red star has been confirmed as the new frontman of th e reunited supergroup and will join Ronnie Wood, Kenney Jones and Ian McL agan for a tour next year (11).
The news was met with an outcry from many of the group’s loyal follower s - but Hucknall is convinced he’ll be able to win over audiences because his voice sounds like Stewart’s at the height of the band’s success in t he 1970s.
He says, "It’s a shame that Rod can’t do it but then Rod isn’t the Rod of 1973. Those songs, the keys are so high and it’s pretty intense stayin g at that kind of pitch for the whole night."
