GELDOF HANDED HONORARY DEGREE
British rocker BOB GELDOF has followed in the footsteps of ORLANDO BLOOM by accepting an honorary degree from a university in England for his cont ribution to culture.
The former Boomtown Rats star donned a traditional cap and gown when he was presented with the Master of Arts accolade by officials at the Unive rsity of Kent in Canterbury on Thursday (22Jul10) - where Bloom picked up the same honour earlier this month (Jul10).
And Geldof was thrilled to accept the degree, because he lives in the l ocal area.
The Live Aid organiser says, "It’s great to also receive recognition fr om UCA for the creative work that I’ve been doing for the past 35 years. I live up the road, so to be recognised by a local university, in the reg ion that I love, adds even greater significance for me. I wouldn’t have a ccepted this award if it didn’t mean anything to me."
