TOP SESSION MUSICIAN CARTER, JR. DEAD AT 76
Country star DEANA CARTER’s father, FRED CARTER, JR., who played on BOB D YLAN’s LAY LADY LAY and SIMON & GARFUNKEL’s THE BOXER, has died at the ag e of 76.
The revered session guitarist passed away on Saturday (17Jul10).
Carter started out playing with the likes of Roy Orbison, Ronnie Hawkin s, and Conway Twitty and became a sought-after session musician in the 19 60s and 1970s.
Deana Carter’s 2007 album The Chain was a tribute to her dad and featur ed a collection of hits the guitarist had played on.
