The singer teams up with the hip-hop star on her latest track, Californ ia Gurls, but admits she had to go online to further her rap knowledge ah ead of making a decision about a performing partner.
And Perry decided on Snoop Dogg after reading through his page on the e ncyclopaedia website.
She tells Canadian radio station Kiss, "I was Wikipedia-ing all the ori ginal West Coast people and I was thinking to myself, who is still releva nt, who is like the best, cherry on top for this, and it was obvious that it was Snoop.
"He did Drop It Like It’s Hot a couple years ago, he did Sexual Seducti on - he’s still Mr. Gin and Juice, I mean he doesn’t age. He’s the Doggfa ther."

CHRISTINA AGUILERA and EMINEM are the latest stars to sign up for a cameo appearance in hit U.S. show ENTOURAGE.
Jessica Simpson and Zac Efron have previously filmed guest slots for th e drama, and now Aguilera and rapper Eminem are set to appear in the upco ming series opposite Adrian Grenier.
Eminem has already filmed his scenes, with Entourage creator Doug Ellin telling Entertainment Weekly he will appear "at a platinum record party for his album (Recovery), which by the time this airs will be platinum, I ‘m sure. He has a little conflict - a little beef - with Vince (Grenier).
" Dirrty hitmaker Aguilera is set to sing on the show, with Ellin adding, "She’s doing a favour for Ari (Jeremy Piven) and performing at a party f or him."

SIR ELTON JOHN gave his recent charity ball an eccentric LADY GAGA-style makeover after she agreed to perform at the event - transforming the glam orous venue into a creepy mental asylum.
The Poker Face hitmaker agreed to sing at the annual White Tie and Tiar a Ball, which took place at Sir Elton’s estate in Windsor, England on Thu rsday (24Jun10) to benefit his AIDS charity.
And Sir Elton instructed his designers to create a weird and wonderful theme for the event in Gaga’s honour, which saw drinks served in medical beakers by waiting staff sporting head bandages and black eyes.
A vintage ambulance was parked outside and muted screams were played as guests, including Kate Beckinsale, Jon Bon Jovi and Kid Rock, entered. A ctors also dangled from trees wearing white straight jackets, while the a udience was ushered past a fake pet cemetery on their way to dinner.
Simon Prytherch, from the Elton John AIDS Foundation, tells Britain’s O K! magazine, "We took the theme from the fact that we had Lady Gaga perfo rming. We wanted to create something that was all about a wonderful, eleg ant summer garden party but was also a bit eccentric - where the guests a re not sure whether it’s being held in a run-down stately home or an asyl um."

Irish rocker BONO is cashing in on the popularity of social networking we bsite Facebook.com - the U2 frontman has nearly doubled his investment in the company.
Bono and bosses at his private-equity business Elevation Partners have ploughed another $120 million (=C2=A380 million) into the privately-held site, bringing their total investment in Facebook to $210 million (=C2=A3 140 million).
According to a letter to investors published by the TechCrunch blog, El evation bosses were able to buy shares from insiders on the secondary mar ket.
The deal could be the start of an investment turnaround for the rocker, whose blunder backing troubled cellphone maker Palm Inc. won him the dis honour of being named Worst Investor in America by financial journal 24/7 Wall Street earlier this year (10).
Bono’s company ploughed nearly $500 million (=C2=A3312.5 million) into the debt-riddled firm, the maker of Treo and Centro smart phones, in Dece mber 2008, before stock shares plummeted.
Editors highlighted "an unprecedented string of disastrous investments which even bad luck could not explain" as the reason for choosing Bono, a dding that California-based Elevation Partners is "arguably the worst run institutional fund of any size in the United States".

Australian musician GURRUMUL has axed his upcoming European tour so he ca n remain at home and battle an illness.
The singer/songwriter has cancelled seven dates in the U.K., Germany, S witzerland, and France that were due to take place next month (Jul10).
He has been suffering from an unspecified illness for several weeks, an d earlier this month (Jun10) he announced a seven-date tour of the U.S. h ad been postponed.
A spokeswoman for the star says, "Gurrumul has been forced to cancel hi s upcoming European tour due to illness… The double-platinum selling an d award-winning singer/songwriter will remain at home with his family in North East Arnhem Land under medical supervision. Ticket holders for Gurr umul=E2=80=99s headline shows should apply for refund from point of purch ase."

TAYLOR MOMSEN has been slammed by anti-smoking campaigners for lighting u p illegally onstage on Sunday (27Jun10) - officials have branded it "a du mb thing to do".
The Gossip Girl star was performing with her band The Pretty Reckless i n California when she took time out from their set to smoke.
The 16 year old is two years below the legal age to buy and smoke cigar ettes in the state of California - and her onstage antics have sparked ou trage.
Momsen has been blasted by officials at Britain’s Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) organisation for succumbing to the "filthy, deadly addictio n" - and for setting a bad example to her young fans.
A spokesperson for ASH tells WENN, "Clearly Momsen’s act is designed to shock and smoking illegally on stage is part of that act.
"It is to be hoped that her fans have the maturity to see that her smok ing is neither cool nor glamorous but a filthy, deadly addiction and a du mb thing to do."

Rapper NICKI MINAJ has brushed off allegations she cheated fans by miming lyrics at Sunday’s (27Jun10) 2010 BET Awards, insisting she did not lip- sync during the show.
Minaj was accused of mouthing the words to her tracks when she took the stage for two performances at the annual awards ceremony - where she sco red wins in three categories.
The Massive Attack hitmaker has now hit back at critics upset by her ap parent lack of vocal effort - she’s adamant technical difficulties were t o blame.

Singer GRACE JONES has axed four concerts in Ireland after her representa tive accused promoters of a breach of contract.
The Pull Up to the Bumper hitmaker was scheduled to perform shows in Du blin and Cork next month (Jul10) but the gigs have now been cancelled.
Her agent Michael Schweiger has accused organisers Rockefeller Producti ons of failing to secure an agreement with Jones before advertising the c oncerts.
In a statement, he says, "The reported performance dates for Grace Jone s in Dublin and Cork (from) July 21-24 have been cancelled. The promoter.
… is in breach of his contract by failing to pay deposits and advertisin g these dates without a fully executed artist agreement. We apologise to Grace’s devoted fans there in Ireland and hope to be in concert there in the near future." Fans who have already bought tickets for the cancelled concerts are adv ised to return to the point of purchase for a refund.

Reclusive singer/rapper LAURYN HILL is "excited" about returning to the m usic scene this summer with a series of concerts (10), insisting she only put her career on hold for the sake of her children.
The former Fugees star has remained out of the spotlight since 2008 fol lowing a series of poorly received performances and cancelled shows, only recently returning to the stage for a rare surprise appearance at New Ze aland’s Ragamuffin festival in January (10).
Hill has now announced she will be joining the line-up of the Rock The Bells Festival Series - a hip-hop tour across America - and she’s explain ed the reason for her prolonged absence.
The singer is adamant media criticism didn’t force her out of the publi c eye, admitting she grew disillusioned with the music industry and took a step back to look after her five kids with longtime partner Rohan Marle y.
She tells America’s National Public Radio (NPR), "There were a number o f different reasons (why I left music). The support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-gr owth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it. The machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who prod uce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of so ciety… And it’s important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow…
"I don’t know if you know this, but I have five children. The youngest is two now, so she’s old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she’s going to be okay.
"It’s time (to start performing again). I’m starting to get excited aga in." Hill also hinted she may return to the recording studio to work on a ne w album - her first since 1998’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
She adds, "People have never really heard me sing. I think if I do reco rd, next time, perhaps, there will be an expanded context. People can hea r - a bit more."

Funnyman JONAH HILL has perfected the art of looking drunk in a movie - h e downs a bottle of vodka before the cameras roll.
The actor plays an alcohol-loving teenager in 2007 comedy Superbad, and he made sure his portrayal was realistic by boozing before his scenes.
And the tactic worked so well, he used it again for his role in new mov ie Get Him to the Greek.
Hill tells Britain’s FHM, "I hate watching films where someone’s suppos ed to be drunk and you can tell that they’re not. In Superbad I was reall y concerned about the scene where I had to kiss Emma Stone and end up hea dbutting her. I wanted it to feel real, so I got a bottle of vodka and ju st starting hammering it.

Actress BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD has opened up about her battle with post-nata l depression, insisting the condition began the moment her son was born.
The Spider-Man 3 star, daughter of director Ron Howard, gave birth to h er first child, Theo, in 2007 but was immediately hit by the baby blues.
She spent 18 months in a "black hole" during which she felt unable to c onnect with Theo and her husband Seth Gabel, until her agony lifted as su ddenly as it had arrived.
Howard tells Britain’s Stella magazine, "What was so devious about it i s that I am normally such an optimistic person. And it hit the moment tha t he was born. Something was really off, and I didn’t want to admit it. I felt as if I was in a black hole and I couldn’t get out of it. It was re ally overwhelming and went on for a long time.
"I was crying in the shower all the time, not feeling like myself, not feeling connected to my son or to my husband - certainly not to myself - not being able to make decisions… I felt totally overwhelmed in every a rea, and like a failure. When he was a year and a half old it was gone, s uddenly one day. I was sitting with my sister and my best friend and I ju st suddenly felt as if everything was OK. There was a hormonal shift." (Z

Movie bosses are in talks to bring TOM CRUISE back for a sequel to his hi t 1986 movie TOP GUN.
The original film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, has confirmed he’s bee n approached with plans to resurrect Cruise’s character, Lieutenant Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, for a follow-up to the naval aviation drama.
Bruckheimer admits movie executives have "kicked around some ideas" but they are still a long way from giving the project the green light.
He tells MTV.com, "We were recently approached again to start talking a bout it but, you know, nothing yet. We kicked around some ideas because t he aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a lo ng time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maver ick character into it." Top Gun is the latest in a long line of popular movies which are rumour ed to be heading back to the big screen, including Jurassic Park and Ghos tbusters.

Veteran actor/director JACK SYDOW has died at the age of 88.
The longtime theatre star passed away last month (28May10) in Los Angel es. No more details about his death were available as WENN went to press.
Sydow made his name as a theatre director, winning an Obie Award for hi s 1958 adaptation of The Brothers Karamazov. He went on to helm a string of high-profile productions, including a 1959 national tour of Once Upon a Mattress with Buster Keaton.
His work on Broadway earned him a Tony Award for his 1967 revival of An nie Get Your Gun.
Sydow’s career included several acting roles, with a brief stint in TV comedy Frasier in the 1990s and a 2007 appearance in Brothers & Sisters.

She says, "This is my pet, this is Jack. He’s our oldest male. I know h e looks kind of scary, he’s a wolf. He’s really sweet, he, like, falls at my feet.
"They told us he was a wolf. I don’t know what kind of wolf he is. They are wolf-dogs, they are hybrids. It’s my mom’s deal (idea). Maybe it was a bit of empty nest syndrome, she wanted more children - because they re ally are hard to take care of. She likes them. Wolf-hybrids are legal."
