Aussie pop star PETER ANDRE has been named Celebrity Dad of the Year by a parenting club in his adopted Britain.
The singer and reality TV star, who is a doting dad to four-year-old Ju nior and Princess Tiaamii, two, saw off competition from Take That singer Gary Barlow to take home the title.
The singer has always maintained his kids’ wellbeing is his highest pri ority, following his split from their mum, glamour model Katie Price, las t year (09).
Accepting the prize, Andre said, "This feels so good. It’s been a turna round year for me and the kids and it’s an honour to be the subject of th e public’s support and best wishes.
"This means a huge amount to me as being a dad is my most important rol e." More than 35,000 votes were cast in the Celebrity Dad of the Year surve y.

New Orleans, Louisiana’s annual Voodoo Experience festival just got scari er - bat-chomping OZZY OSBOURNE has signed up to headline the Halloween p arty.
Osbourne will join Muse and Weezer as the headliners at the three-day f estival, which will take place over Halloween weekend (29-31Oct10).
MGMT, Drake, Florence & the Machine, Interpol, Street Sweeper Social Cl ub, Jakob Dylan and the Eagles of Death Metal have also been confirmed fo r the event.

DR. DRE’s comeback has been ruined by a leaked track - his UNDER PRESSURE collaboration with JAY-Z has hit the Internet weeks before its official release.
The track, which takes aim at recent scandals surrounding U.S. sports s tars Tiger Woods and Gilbert Arenas and features Dre rapping about his bi d to give up smoking and alcohol, leaked in part on Wednesday (16Jun10).
Dre has confirmed the unmastered version of the track is real, but unfi nished: "I want to set the record straight for everybody who’s been waiti ng to hear my music. The song that’s on the Internet is an incomplete son g that I’m still working on. When it’s ready, you’ll be hearing it from m e."

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee GARRY SHIDER has lost his battle with b rain and lung cancer at the age of 56.
The Parliament-Funkadelic longtime guitarist and singer was dubbed Diap er Man by fans for his penchant of wearing oversized diapers onstage.
Shider joined the funk legends in 1970 and first appeared on Funkadelic ’s 1971 album Maggot Brain.
He was still an active member of the group’s touring collective up to h is diagnosis.
The guitarist’s voice can be heard behind band leader George Clinton’s on the group’s biggest hits and fan favourites, including Can You Get to That and One Nation Under the Groove, which he also co-wrote.
In an online tribute to his longtime bandmate, Clinton writes, "Thank y ou, Garry for all you have done. Forever funkin’ on!"

M.I.A. has revealed she received death threats while she was pregnant wit h her first child IKHYD over comments she made about her native Sri Lanka ..
The outspoken hitmaker, who is the daughter of a Tamil separatist, was targeted online by people who didn’t agree with her views - and some comm ents were really distressing because they also targeted her unborn baby.
M.I.A. tells online newspaper the Huffington Post, "People were sending me death threats and telling me bad s**t about my kid. People would writ e on Twitter and YouTube, ‘Your baby is going to die,’ because I was talk ing about the Sri Lankan government and the issues that were going on the re." But the threats fell on deaf ears and blind eyes because M.I.A. has alw ays felt as if her life was spared during a frightening encounter when sh e was eight so she could speak up for Sri Lankans.
She explains, "I just saw something when I was eight and they didn’t ki ll me. I am alive to say this is what happened… I survived it and I’m g oing to tell you my account of it, just like Jewish people get to talk ab out the Holocaust and we embrace it.
"Even though I had all this amazing success, at the same time I was wat ching this crazy destruction going on over there. No one really wanted to talk about it and then all these people were reaching out to me to talk about it because I am the only one that can represent them. At the same t ime I was pregnant and I didn’t want to have to deal with that s**t, but I had no choice."

The widow of R&B singer SEAN LEVERT has won a $4 million (GBP2.7 million) settlement in a lawsuit over the entertainer’s 2008 death in an Ohio jai l.
Angela Lowe filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Cleveland prison off icials, accusing them of neglecting Levert’s medical needs, citing Levert was denied his prescribed anti-anxiety medication while behind bars for failing to pay $90,000 (GBP60,000) in child support.
Lowe reached an agreement with Cuyahoga County and a jail medical servi ces contractor in Cleveland federal court on Wednesday (16Jun10). The ter ms of the deal include no official admission of liability.
A coroner ruled Levert, the son of The O’Jays star Eddie Levert, had di ed of natural causes, citing lung disease, heart disease, high blood suga r and withdrawal from anti-anxiety drug Xanax as the reasons for his deat h.
Levert was 39 when he died.

BRET MICHAELS wants to take POISON on tour with old pals MOTLEY CRUE in 2 011.
The rocker is hoping to capitalise on the renewed interest in him since his recent health crises - and he’s hoping to create a super tour to cel ebrate his band’s 25th anniversary.
He tells Billboard.com, "I think it would be killer to do something wit h Motley Crue. Me and (Motley Crue singer) Vince Neil are really great fr iends, and we’re talking about doing something really cool with the two o f us solo, or maybe it could be Motley Crue and Poison, their 30th annive rsary and our 25th, and go out together.
"It could be the 55th anniversary of Motley Crue and Poison! I think th at would be awesome." But, before that, busy Michaels has a solo tour to take care of, a real ity TV show and surgery to repair a hole in his heart.
Michaels recently battled an appendectomy, a brain haemorrhage and a mi ld stroke.

Rapper/actor XZIBIT has been given an early Father’s Day gift - he became a father for the third time on Wednesday (16Jun10).
The hip-hop star, real name Alvin Joiner, is daddy to baby boy Gatlyn.
Breaking the happy news to his fans on Twitter.com, he wrote, "My son G atlyn has arrived in good health. Thank all of you in advance for the lov e." The rapper is also dad to teenager, Tremayne, from a previous relations hip. His second son, Xavier Kingston Joiner, died in May, 2008 just days after he was born premature.

Hill tells Rolling Stone magazine he started behaving badly because he was convinced his mum was going to lose her cancer battle - and his life almost ended one night.
He recalls he was 15 when he and a pal took off on a late-night drive a nd flipped over a Sports Utility Vehicle. Hill had his arms stuck out of the window at the time and it was dragged along the road.
Hill woke up in the hospital, and he heard two doctors discussing wheth er or not to amputate his arm. At the same time, he saw his dad and ailin g mum crying.
He says, "I said to myself, ‘I’ll never let them down ever again… I’m going to be f**kin’ successful. I’m going to resurrect what I put these people through by being a little a**hole.’ So I look at this scar every d ay. That reminds me to work hard."

Actor and recovering addict JEREMY LONDON has been left "shaken and scare d" after he was held at gunpoint and forced to take drugs in a bizarre ca r kidnapping in California last week (10Jun10).
The former Party of Five star, 37, pulled over to change a flat tyre on his car and was approached by a group of men who offered to help. After replacing the flat, the actor offered to drive the good samaritans home b ut during the trip, one of the assailants pulled out a gun and turned Lon don into a taxi driver, visiting various locations around Palm Springs.
In a statement London later gave to police, he claims he was forced to "purchase alcohol and use illicit drugs" during his ordeal.
London, who has a history of prescription medication abuse, managed to escape and run to safety before reporting the terrifying ordeal to police ..
His representative, Dominic Friesen, tells People.com, "Thankfully, Jer emy London survived his terrorising ordeal in Palm Springs last week. Alt hough understandably shaken and scared, he is currently working closely w ith law enforcement as they investigate the horrific turn of events." Police have so far arrested one man, identified as Brandon Adams, 26, i n relation to the alleged incident. Rap superstar SNOOP DOGG has been axed from the line-up at a Dutch music festival after city officials declared he was not welcome in the area.
The Drop It Like It’s Hot hitmaker, who has a history of legal problems , was due to headline the open-air Parkpop event in the Netherlands later this month (27Jun10), along with actress/singer Juliette Lewis and Germa n pop star Nena.
But Snoop Dogg’s slot has now been scrapped - because authorities are c onvinced the rapper is not suitable for The Hague festival.
A statement issued by city officials says, "Snoop Dogg will not perform at Parkpop… (The concert was cancelled) in order to preserve the free, open and friendly nature of Parkpop." But the snub has come as a shock to festival organisers.
Spokesman Marit Noorlander says, "We are very, very disappointed." Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, was previously denied entry into the U.K. after he was arrested following a fracas at London’s Heathrow Ai rport in 2006.
Border officials labelled him a threat, citing his prior drug and firea rms offences, but the star challenged the ruling in court and the ban was lifted earlier this year (10), allowing him to headline the legendary Gl astonbury festival this summer (10).

Like many stars, the Iron Man actress insisted on staying out of the su n and covered up for summer trips - but then she learned her caution was costing her good health.
In her latest Goop.com online newsletter to fans and friends, the actre ss has opened up about her secret health battle and advised others how to make sure they get just the right amount of sun with a little help from top doctor Frank Lipman.
Paltrow writes, "I suffered a pretty severe Tibial plateau fracture a f ew years ago (requiring surgery) which lead the orthopaedic surgeon to gi ve me a bone scan, at which point it was discovered I had the beginning s tages of osteopenia.
"This led my western/eastern doctors in New York to test my Vitamin D l evels, which turned out to be the lowest they had ever seen (not a good t hing). I went on a prescription strength level of Vitamin D and was told to=E2=80=A6 spend a bit of time in the sun! "I was curious if this was safe, having been told for years to stay awa y from its dangerous rays, not to mention a tad bit confused as we are al l well schooled in the dangers of overexposure to the sun." Paltrow admits she took Dr. Lipman’s advice and has now reversed her Vi tamin D diagnosis, and she has called on the expert to offer readers tips on how to enjoy the summer sun’s rays "sensibly".
He writes: "Numerous studies have shown that optimising your Vitamin D levels may actually help prevent as many as 16 different types of cancer including pancreatic, lung, breast, ovarian, prostate, and colon cancers.
And the best way to optimise Vitamin D levels is through safe, smart and limited sunscreen-free exposure to the sun."
