Former VAN HALEN frontman SAMMY HAGAR is putting pen to paper - he’s rele asing an autobiography.
The musician, known as ‘The Red Rocker’, has signed a deal with It Book s, an imprint of publishing house HarperCollins, to write a memoir detail ing his rock star life.
Hagar announced the news on Wednesday (23Jun10), revealing he has "been writing this book my whole life" and decided it was "time to put it in b etween two covers." The star now fronts rock band Chickenfoot and is known for his business ventures, which include founding the Cabo Wabo Tequila brand and restaur ant chain.
The tome is set to be released next year (11).

Squads of police officers have been recruited to guard MICHAEL JACKSON’s family home on the first anniversary of his death on Friday (25Jun10), ac cording to reports.
Los Angeles Police Department officials are drafting 30 to 40 officers to patrol the Jackson family compound in Encino, California, as well as t he surrounding streets, throughout the weekend (begs25Jun10).
The residency, where Katherine Jackson lives with the King of Pop’s thr ee children, is expected to be visited by scores of fans mourning the sta r a year after his death, reports TMZ.com.
LAPD bosses will also be banning any vendors selling unauthorised tribu te memorabilia in the area, as well as at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendal e, California, where Jackson was interred.

DRAKE was left silent during a concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (2 2Jun10) after the sound cut out mid-show.
The hip-hop newcomer was performing at Bao Steakhouse in L.A. as part o f a promotional event, with a star-studded audience including Jamie Foxx, Zoe Saldana and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
But Drake’s rapping fell quiet half-way through his set when a technica l problem affected the sound and halted the show, according to the New Yo rk Daily News.
The newspaper reports hip-hop fan Foxx went over to the sound booth to talk to the engineer in charge. A source claims the singer/actor "went nu ts on the guy working in the sound booth".
The botched gig comes just a week after Drake was forced to cancel a sh ow in New York due to over-crowding.

Rapper BOW WOW is facing a lawsuit after allegedly failing to perform at two scheduled concerts.
The Like You hitmaker was reportedly due to play a gig at the The Famil y Arena in St. Charles, Missouri in May last year (09) after accepting a $50,000 (=C2=A333,333) fee.
But according to papers filed in Easter District Court of Missouri, Bow Wow, real name Gregory Shad Moss, allegedly failed to appear at the conc ert and promised to make up the date.
The rapper then reportedly scheduled a replacement show at the Rotary P ark in September, 2009, to support local charities.
The lawsuit filed by Brad Gould/Macsimus Entertainment claims the compa ny spent another $43,000 (=C2=A328,667) promoting the second concert but he again failed to attend, reports AllHipHop.com.
The star is being sued for the $50,000 (=C2=A333,333) payment fee, as w ell as $43,000 (=C2=A328,667) for the money the company is said to have s pent promoting the second date.

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY fought back tears as he and STEVIE WONDER sang EBONY A ND IVORY for U.S. president, BARACK OBAMA - because he was so proud to be performing for the country’s first black leader.
The Beatles star was honoured at the White House earlier this month (Ju n10), accepting the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the Library of C ongress.
At the presidential concert, McCartney teamed up with Wonder to sing th eir 1982 hit - the first time they have ever sung the racial harmony duet live - and McCartney admits he was moved to tears by significance of the moment.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "We had a big hit with it but I’d never per formed it live with Stevie until that night - and in front of the first b lack President. When I wrote the song it was a much more troubled time fo r civil rights, so it took on a significance I’d never dreamed of. I was welling up. I think Obama’s doing great. He’s a smart guy." And McCartney was delighted to meet Obama for the first time - because he’s admired him from afar for so long.
He adds, "It was such an honour. I’d heard of the prize - it’s the bigg est for popular music in the U.S. When the President gave it to me, I was so touched. I’m a huge Obama supporter. I really love him.
"When it was the election I was praying he would win. I’d read Obama’s books and had an opportunity to talk to him there, in the White House, wh ere I’d never been before. It was amazing to be chatting away, just him a nd his family."

A reality show searching for fans to star in GLEE has been axed - so writ ers can focus on upcoming episodes of the hit musical.
Fox executives were planning to launch a spin-off TV competition to fin d talented unknown singers for the U.S. series, about high school student s who perform in a show choir.
Bosses asked viewers to submit their audition tapes via MySpace.com, wi th plans to stage an American Idol-style TV showdown to select the best w annabes for three new roles.
But the untitled reality project has been called off - so Glee creator Ryan Murphy can devote his time to the forthcoming second season.
NYMag.com reports Murphy and his associates are keeping the audition en tries and plan to incorporate the best new stars in a future episode. (PA

An exhibition documenting TIM BURTON’s long-running movie career has open ed in Australia.
The director first put a collection of his work on display in New York last year (09) at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and now the show has m oved Down Under with a more expansive exhibit in Melbourne, Australia.
Tim Burton: The Exhibition includes items already seen in the Big Apple , but also features previously unseen memorabilia from the director’s ear ly years in the movie business as well as the famous Batmobile from Burto n’s superhero films - Batman and Batman Returns.
The show will also feature extra pieces from the moviemaker’s recent bo x office hit Alice in Wonderland, including Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter cost umes.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibit on Wednesday (23Jun10), Burton s aid, "I didn’t realise I saved so much stuff, ‘cos I never really look at it, I was just sort of stuffing stuff in drawers… (It was like) an arc haeological dig … (I) found my original rejection slips from Disney. I learnt a lot about myself that I wouldn’t have ordinarily because I would n’t have ever looked at it again.
"It’s strange, it’s like having your dirty laundry on the walls." The exhibit runs until October (10).

KRISTEN STEWART has denied confirming a ROBERT PATTINSON romance in an of f-air chat with OPRAH WINFREY, insisting she only spoke to the TV queen f or a brief moment.
The Twilight stars sat down on the TV titan’s sofa for a taped intervie w, which aired in the U.S. in May (10), and subsequent backstage reports suggested the onscreen lovers had admitted a real-life romance to Winfrey while the cameras weren’t rolling.
But Stewart is adamant the confession never happened.
She tells Entertainment Weekly, "She (Winfrey) glided over to me - and she was strong, by the way, really firm hands - and she said, ‘How are yo u?’ I said, ‘Good.’ She said, ‘Good. Are you nervous?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I a m, but I think I’m OK.’ "She said, ‘Good. We’ll have fun.’ And then she just walked away. And t hat was the most I talked to her backstage."

PIERCE BROSNAN is set to star alongside his son in a new movie - they hav e both landed roles in crime thriller BONDED.
The former 007 star and his son Sean will play cops in the film about a Mexican teenager who attempts to rescue a friend from a sex trafficker.
Brosnan’s Irish Dream Team company will executive produce Bonded, while director Mohit Ramchandani will helm the project, according to The Wrap.
The Devil’s Creek filmmaker says, "I want to make movies that not only entertain people, but also empower, educate and inspire them." Shooting is due to start in September (10).

KELLAN LUTZ was left in agony on the set of his new movie after he was cu t up by a machete during a stunt.
The Twilight star filmed a series of daring scenes for Deathgames, prev iously known as The Killing Game, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, and the ac tor was adamant he wanted to take part in the action himself.
Lutz was injured after he was struck by a large blade in a fight scene, leaving him with a nasty scar across his chest.
He tells Dose.Ca, "I loved doing stunts; I don’t have tattoos and I alw ays say that my scars and bruises are my tattoos. I just did this movie c alled The Killing Game (which has been renamed Deathgames) and we had rea l machetes. My chest got cut up by accident. My agent was like, ‘That’s y our money maker! You can’t ruin that!’" But the injury has not put him off filming more stunt-packed blockbuste rs, adding, "I love action movies."

JESSICA ALBA has stopped a Chinese girl from undergoing cosmetic surgery after she revealed plans for a painful operation to make herself look mor e like the actress.
A 21 year old, known only as Xiaoqing, was willing to transform her loo ks in a desperate bid to win back her former boyfriend, whose favourite a ctress is Alba.
After surgeons in Shanghai offered to perform a cosmetic overhaul for f ree, a sickened Alba reached out to the girl and pleaded with her not to change her appearance Alba told her, "I think you should never have to change yourself like t hat. If somebody loves you, they’ll love you no matter what." And Alba’s appeal has worked - Xiaoqing has decided against surgery, an d has thanked the Sin City star for making her change her mind.
She says, "I think it’s great that Jessica is so concerned about me. He r words also played an important role in my decision."

CLAY AIKEN is adamant he doesn’t "blame" the record bosses who axed him f rom his former label, admitting they had a difficult job marketing him to fans.
The singer shot to fame on the second series of American Idol in 2003, and was quickly snapped up by RCA Records after coming second in the TV t alent contest.
He released five albums under the Sony imprint - only two of which cons isted of original material - before he parted ways with the company in 20 08.
But Aiken insists he has no hard feelings towards his former bosses - i nsisting they "did the best they could".
He tells UsWeekly, "I don’t blame anybody. If I were the folks at RCA a nd I got handed someone like me… and I didn’t get to choose them, I wou ldn’t know what the hell to do either.
"They did the best they could for no track record for Idol. To some ext ent, there was an effort to try to make me what a pop star is supposed to look like, sound like and be like, instead of having too much opportunit y to do what I should be doing."
