Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

Relatives of CHRIS SIEVY, the man behind cult British novelty artist FRAN K SIDEBOTTOM, have launched a campaign pleading for donations amids fears the popular star is facing a "pauper=E2=80=99s funeral".
Sievy, who became a music and comedy festival favourite in the U.K. as the papier-mache-headed Sidebottom, died aged 54 on Monday (21Jun10).
He passed away leaving little money or assets, and now his family is ca lling for help to ensure Sievy gets a decent memorial service.
His son Stirling tells the Manchester Evening News, "My father has not left any money behind and we are struggling to try and sort his funeral o ut. He spent money as it came in and was always a man for the moment. He never planned ahead. We have spoken to a funeral director and the sort of figures that they are talking about are too high.
"We would not know how to go about getting that sort of money at the mo ment. They said that applying for a pauper=E2=80=99s funeral would be an option. He would not want us worrying about trying to sort it all out. We would not want our dad to have a pauper=E2=80=99s funeral but we would n ot want something over the top for him too. Just something simple and dig nified." British DJ Mark Radcliffe adds, "Something needs to be organised to giv e Chris the send-off that he deserves. It would be tragic for a man who b rought so much enjoyment and laughter to the region to have a pauper=E2=80 =99s funeral." Meanwhile a group has been set up by Sievy’s fans on Facebook.com, titl ed Frank’s Fantastic Funeral, calling for donations - so far the campaign has raised $10,500 (=C2=A37,000).

MILLS LOSES BATTLE WITH MORGAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s ex-wife HEATHER MILLS has had her complaint against TV talent show judge PIERS MORGAN dismissed by a press watchdog after she accused him of berating her in his British newspaper column.
The former model lodged an official objection with Britain’s Press Comp laints Commission (PCC) about an article which Morgan wrote for the Mail on Sunday in March (10), headlined ‘The 100 British celebrities who reall y matter’.
Mills, who was named as number 100 on the list, objected to Morgan’s cl aim that she is the writer of "nothing but bleating letters of complaint to newspapers and divorce lawyers".
She also complained about the description of his "eternal shame" of hav ing introduced the charity campaigner to her famous former husband.
The America’s Got Talent judge has long claimed to have been responsibl e for sparking the romance between Mills and McCartney at a charity event - but in Mills’ complaint, she called the story "inaccurate".
Executives at the PCC have now ruled in Morgan’s favour, insisting the former newspaper boss did not breach the Editors’ Code of Practice, accor ding to Britain’s Metro newspaper.
The ruling states, "It was not in dispute that it was at an event organ ised by Mr Morgan’s newspaper that Sir Paul had seen Ms Mills for the fir st time, that he contacted her shortly afterwards (apparently at Mr Morga n’s suggestion) and that he and Ms Mills subsequently began dating.’ "Given that Mr Morgan had invited both guests to the event, the Commiss ion did not consider that it was misleading to suggest that he had effect ively been the means to their introduction."

MCCARTNEY: ‘LESSONS TO BE LEARNED FROM OIL SPILL’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY is hopeful the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster will pave the way for the rise of "clean, renewable energy" sources in the fut ure.
The Beatles legend is furious about the environmental catastrophe, whic h has seen gallons of oil gushing into the sea off the coast of Louisiana since a BP rig ruptured in April (10).
But he’s hoping the spill, ruled America’s worst environmental disaster , will prompt politicians to take an increased interest in saving the pla net.
He tells Britain’s The Sun, "Sadly we need disasters like this to show people. Some people don’t believe in climate warming - like those who don ‘t believe there was a Holocaust.
"But the facts indicate that there’s something going on and we’ve got t o be aware of it if we want our kids to inherit a decent world, not a com plete nightmare of a planet - clean, renewable energy is for starters." And the singer has defended U.S. President Barack Obama, who he met for the first time earlier this month (Jun10), who has come under fire for n ot doing enough to handle the spill.
McCartney adds, "I don’t accept the criticism of Barack over the oil sp ill. I think he’s been great. It’s tough if we Brits whinge (complain) th at he’s whingeing at us. Tough, then don’t spill oil.
"BP isn’t just a British company any more, it’s half American. The thin g is, if you do something like that you’re not going to get away with it.
If the President of the country you spilled oil in tells you off then yo u’ve just got to take it or say, ‘I’m really sorry, we’ll clean it up and pay for it all by next week.’ If you create the biggest environmental di saster in U.S. history then you’re not going to get off that lightly." (P

CAREY BIDDING FOR JACKSON’S FURNITURE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

MARIAH CAREY will be going head to head with royalty and super-rich MICHA EL JACKSON fans in a bid to land a sofa set the King of Pop commissioned for his This Is It stageshow at an auction in Las Vegas on Friday (25Jun1 0).
The pop superstar has asked interior designer to the stars Kenneth Bord ewick to bid on the item at a Julien’s Auction held on the anniversary of the Thriller singer’s death.
Ironically, Bordewick also advised Jackson on the furniture for his Lon don home - and flew to Italy to oversee the manufacture of the 22 items t hat craftsmen at Combustile custom made for the King of Pop.
He tells WENN, "Mariah is very interested in the sofa set, which is exp ected to fetch $150,000, but I think it’s more likely to go under the ham mer for $1 million.
"It was to be used onstage for Michael’s This Is It shows - it was craf ted using red-crushed velvet, 24-carat gold and Medici stones, or onyx as it’s more commonly known.
"It’s a monstrous piece, very Alice in Wonderland, with swags of silk o n the back." And Bordewick reveals Carey won’t be the only high roller bidding for t he furniture Jackson ordered for his Foxbury Manor mansion in England bef ore he passed away last year (Jun09) - the Sultan of Brunei wants a four chair and sofa item, a replica of a parlour set once owned by Tsar Nichol as II of Russia.
The two armchairs in the set are expected to fetch $60,000 (=C2=A340,00 0) each and the sofa, which features threads of 24-cart gold, is expected to go under the hammer on Friday for up to $60,000 (=C2=A340,000).
Both Carey and the Sultan are expected to bid for two Jackson-commissio ned ottomans.
It’s not the first time the Hero singer has dug deep for an icon’s home decor - she splashed out a whopping $662,000 (=C2=A3441,330) for Marilyn Monroe’s piano in 2004.
After purchasing the instrument at a Christie’s auction in New York, Ca rey said, "I could have gotten the Happy Birthday, Mr President dress or whatever, but that would have represented Marilyn Monroe’s stardom. The p iano belonged to her mother and was a piece of her childhood."

WILSON LOOKED HIS WORST IN BARRY MUNDAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

Actor PATRICK WILSON wanted to look his worst in new comedy BARRY MUNDAY - because he wanted his ladies’ man character to be tubby and unkempt.
The Watchmen star plays a thirty-something man desperate to bed as many women as he can in the film, but he put a new spin on the story by gaini ng a few extra pounds for the role.
Speaking at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, he tells WENN, " When you have a comedy where there are a lot of outlandish characters, us ually the central figure is the most boring guy. He’s like the everyman. I thought, ‘Why don’t we make him funny and as outlandish as we can?’ Any time a guy is described as a ladies’ man, it’s always like, ‘Ugh, I’ve s een this about a hundred times’ or, ‘He’s disgusting and creepy.’ "I thought there was something endearing about him, so physically I kep t a lot of the weight on that I had from Watchmen without the muscles to get that post-college Budweiser glow where everybody thinks they’re still in high school shape but they’re really not; like the guy who goes to th e gym but doesn’t really work out. He thinks because his shirts are tight that he’s fit." And Wilson admits he even planned for his facial hair to look dishevell ed, adding, "I remember when Ethan Hawke hit the scene and got the goatee .. Every guy was like, ‘I gotta grow a goatee now because it’s so hip.’ Bu t this character is hanging onto the goatee a little too long and it’s a little scraggly and terrible and not well-kept. The hairline was terrible though; I had a bad comb-over!"

He tells Dose.ca, "Would I consider doing an Emmett spin-off? Oh yeah. Even if it’s just one movie. To see Emmett and his wife Rosalie’s relatio nship more would be nice. I love my character, I’ve made such a back-stor y in my head, and I just don’t get to show a lot of him. I can’t help it and I can’t complain, but there’s a lot I want to do with him…
"There’s an excerpt that Stephenie wrote called Emmett and the Bear tha t she posted on her website. It really shows what the story is with Emmet t and his relationship with Robert Pattinson’s character Edward and how t hey became really close. I wish that we could show that. SILVERMAN CALLS FOR BETTER SCHOOL LUNCHES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:33 pm

SARAH SILVERMAN is following in the footsteps of SCARLETT JOHANSSON and W OODY HARRELSON by urging U.S. politicians to support a plan to promote he althy eating in schools.
The comedienne has voiced her support for the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010, a bill which which aims to provide America’s kids with nutritiou s lunches.
The scheme would reward school districts with incentives if they give s tudents more vegetables - and Silverman is backing the bill wholeheartedl y.
In a letter to Congressman George Miller, Silverman says, "I’m writing to you about something that has shocked and offended me. And trust me whe n I say it takes a lot to shock and offend me. Some of the foods we’re fe eding kids in schools are repulsive - and that unhealthy food is feeding the childhood obesity epidemic.
"All kids - vegetarian or not - should have healthy options. I think th at we forget the simple fact that what we put in our bodies directly affe cts our bodies. Many kids aren’t able to bring lunches from home - they h ave to eat what’s in the lunch line. Without healthful options in the caf eteria, we’re doing our children and the future of our country a great di sservice." And Silverman is convinced the cafeteria changes would reduce health ca re fees, adding: "If we help children develop healthy habits early on, th ey’ll have a lower risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes in the fu ture. And that would mean lower health care costs. See? Only good comes f rom this. I know you’re as serious as I am about helping kids succeed and stay healthy." Both Johansson and Harrelson have previously written letters to Congres s in support of the bill.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:54 pm

The Thriller singer died just weeks before he was set to start his 50-d ate stint at the British capital’s O2 Arena and had rented an English cou ntry estate for his family to reside in while in the U.K.
Jackson was so determined for his kids to immerse themselves in British culture, he would encourage Prince, Paris and Blanket to listen to Engli sh rock music and chat in an East London accent.
Chef Kai Chase says, "They had flown over to Britain with their dad whe n he announced the O2 tour and had loved it. Mr Jackson loved the U.K. He told me he had a huge place in his heart for the country, the Queen and the music there.
"He loved fish and chips and wanted the children to try shepherd’s pie.
London was one of his favourite places on earth.
"And in the last week before he died he had British theme nights for th e children. Rolling Stones and Beatles songs were played in the kitchen. The kids spent hours talking in Cockney accents and were competing for th e best Cockney voice on the morning he died. EMINEM’s D12 bandmates have taken up fishing and practising yoga after th e rapper advised them to change their lifestyles with relaxing hobbies.
The group was rocked when bandmember Proof was killed in 2006 and that same year (06) Swift was jailed for violating the terms of his probation.

He tells Scotland’s Daily Record, "I’ve been going through a stressful time and Em and the guys know we need to have downtime. He’s been giving me advice. These days I’m a big fisherman and family guy. I’m also a big lottery player. I’ve been to yoga too after Em showed me it, but the fish ing I do on my own…
"I’m a little more serious than I used to be after all we’ve been throu gh. The loss of Proof, the group going through some life-changing things and me having a daughter means I’m more responsible.
