PIVEN STILL UPSET ABOUT ILLNESS TALK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:48 am

ENTOURAGE star JEREMY PIVEN is still upset by suggestions he faked the il lness that cost him a role in DAVID MAMET’s play SPEED-THE-PLOW in 2008, insisting he regrets not speaking out at the time.
The actor quit the Broadway show less than two months into the producti on and left producers to scramble around and find a replacement. William H. Macy signed up at short notice.
Piven maintains a bout of mercury poisoning cost him the role of a life time - and he wasn’t faking it.
He tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "That talk really did hurt. I grew up in a family that dedicated its life to the theatre… There was this misconception that the Hollywood boy tried to do Broadway not realis ing what it was. Doing Mamet on Broadway is the Holy Grail (for an actor) .. If anyone thinks I would take something like that for granted, they’ve got the wrong guy.
"My body was literally trying to survive. I was in bed every day until the moment I hit the stage. As soon as I was offstage, I was in bed." Piven’s only regret is that he didn’t fire back at the criticism at the time: "I didn’t retaliate, decided to take the high road. Now I think I did the wrong thing in doing that." The poisoning turned into the Epstein-Barr virus and floored Piven for weeks. He admits the illness was a wake-up call.
He explains, "I’m dedicated to my health and to getting into the best s hape of my life."

She tells WENN, "The car accident in Ireland is really what led him to commit suicide, which a lot of people don’t know about.

"We were on a country road and there’s not really room for two cars to go by and it was just getting dark and I was driving and Spalding was beh ind me in the back seat and he wasn’t wearing his seat belt. There were t hree people in the car and I was the only one wearing a seat belt.
"Spalding flew into the back of my head. I needed stitches and he crush ed his skull on the right side. We didn’t know about that until a couple of weeks after when his head collapsed in and I noticed a dent in his for ehead. We were there for the whole summer for his surgeries.
"When we heard he needed a head operation we flew home to New York… H e had right frontal lobe damage and scar tissue developed, which led to b rain damage and that led him to commit suicide and jump off the Staten Is land Ferry." Gray disappeared for two months before his body was found in the East R iver and Russo admits the press coverage surrounding his whereabouts was particularly difficult for the family.
She adds, "The hardest thing was when he was missing for two months and people were sending me pictures and saying, ‘This is him.’ I knew he was not a cruel person and would never start a new life somewhere else, whic h is what the media was saying."

NELSON’S HIPPIE LOOK MADE HIM AN OUTSIDER IN NASHVILLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:33 am

WILLIE NELSON fears his hippie look held him back at the beginning of his career - because straight-laced Nashville, Tennessee music executives di dn’t give him the credit he deserved.
The country music legend was inducted into Nashville’s music mecca the Grand Ole Opry in 1965, but he now admits he never felt he belonged in Mu sic City - because of the way he looked.
He tells Parade magazine, "The executives in music were a little prejud iced and biased about someone’s appearance. They never stopped to think t hat maybe that long-haired hippie out there might have a little talent.
"There are a lot of people that hate change and want to keep things the way they’ve always been. Nashville was one of the last places to be leni ent toward the hippies and the long hairs. That’s one of the things that held it back.
"I felt like they failed to realise that I really knew what I was talki ng about. I was writing some pretty good songs and my singing wasn’t that bad. I had a base in Texas. But the majority of the people that I record ed for and the publishing companies that I wrote for had heard stories ab out how popular I was in Texas. But they never left their desks in Nashvi lle long enough to come by and check it out.
"Whenever I’d go down to Texas to play to thousands of people on the we ekend, they didn’t know anything about it in Nashville. So it was a big d isconnect between Nashville and the rest of the world for me back in thos e days."
