SIR ELTON’S ‘CRAZY’ CHARITY BALL
SIR ELTON JOHN gave his recent charity ball an eccentric LADY GAGA-style makeover after she agreed to perform at the event - transforming the glam orous venue into a creepy mental asylum.
The Poker Face hitmaker agreed to sing at the annual White Tie and Tiar a Ball, which took place at Sir Elton’s estate in Windsor, England on Thu rsday (24Jun10) to benefit his AIDS charity.
And Sir Elton instructed his designers to create a weird and wonderful theme for the event in Gaga’s honour, which saw drinks served in medical beakers by waiting staff sporting head bandages and black eyes.
A vintage ambulance was parked outside and muted screams were played as guests, including Kate Beckinsale, Jon Bon Jovi and Kid Rock, entered. A ctors also dangled from trees wearing white straight jackets, while the a udience was ushered past a fake pet cemetery on their way to dinner.
Simon Prytherch, from the Elton John AIDS Foundation, tells Britain’s O K! magazine, "We took the theme from the fact that we had Lady Gaga perfo rming. We wanted to create something that was all about a wonderful, eleg ant summer garden party but was also a bit eccentric - where the guests a re not sure whether it’s being held in a run-down stately home or an asyl um."
