SILVERCHAIR BEER BOSS GIVES UP BOOZE
SILVERCHAIR bassist and beer brewery owner CHRIS JOANNOU has pledged to g ive up alcohol for a month.
The Australian rocker, who plays in the band with Natalie Imbruglia’s e x-husband Daniel Johns, indulges his love of booze as co-owner of Lovells Lager, which he helped set up with his music producer pal Matt Lovell.
But Joannou has decided to give up his beloved beverage for a full four weeks as part of the Dry July campaign, which encourages regular drinker s to quit alcohol for a month to raise money for charity.
The bassist has signed up as an ambassador for the scheme and will be t aking part in the annual abstinence.
He says, "I love a beer as much as the next bloke but to give it a rest for just one month of the year seems nothing for such a top cause. It’s also going to be a great rest for the old liver. So, it’s a win-win.
"I’m sure a lot of people will see an alcohol brand associated with Dry July and they’ll be scratching their heads. (But) I’m sure that after a month when everyone’s been hanging out for one, it will be great to be ab le to hand them a Lovells."
