RENOWNED SAXOPHONIST ANDERSON DIES
Famed saxophonist FRED ANDERSON has died, aged 81.
The musician, who owned the iconic Velvet Lounge music venue in Chicago , Illinois, passed away on Thursday (24Jun10).
His cause of death is not yet known, according to the Associated Press.
Throughout his career Anderson acted as mentor to many rising jazz star s, including Ken Vandermark, drummer Hamid Drake, Josh Abrams, Fred Jackson and George Lewis.
