LENNON DOODLE RAISES $56,000
A doodle drawn by late BEATLES star JOHN LENNON has raised nearly $56,000 (=C2=A337,250) at auction.
The caricature was scribbled by the musician during one of his famous 1 969 ‘Bed-In’ demonstrations with his wife Yoko Ono to protest the Vietnam War.
The sketch was created during Lennon’s week in bed in Montreal, Canada and it has now sold for a massive $55,875 (=C2=A337,250) at an auction in London.
The sale at Christie’s on Thursday (24Jun10) also included a jacket onc e worn by late superstar Michael Jackson, which fetched $33,750 (=C2=A322 ,500) -10 times its estimated price - as well as a guitar once owned by T he Who star Pete Townshend and another which belonged to the Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones.
