JACKSONS WRAP UP FAMILY TRIBUTES IN LOS ANGELES AND INDIANA
It was high noon for the JACKSON family on Friday (25Jun10) as matriarch KATHERINE and her kids JANET, TITO, JERMAINE and RANDY attended Los Angel es and Indiana tributes to superstar MICHAEL within 40 minutes of each ot her.
Janet and Randy arrived at the Forest Lawn Cemetery memorial in Glendal e, California just before noon.
Both were in a sombre, quiet mood but they waved at fans and well-wishe rs as they entered the cemetery. Janet wore dark glasses and a fitted bla ck skirt suit.
The brother and sister were joined by Tito Jackson minutes later. He gr eeted fans waiting in line to enter the gravesite and pay their respects, shook hands and accepted gifts. Brother Jermaine arrived at Forest Lawn at 12.05pm and smiled to and waved at fans.
Then, minutes later in the family’s native Gary, Indiana, Katherine Jac kson unveiled a marble tribute to her son, erected on the lawn of the hom e where the Jackson legend began.
City Mayor Rudy Clay and Randy Jackson’s daughter Genevieve welcomed th e family matriarch as she stepped out of the home at 2300 Jackson Avenue.
Wearing a pale yellow pantsuit, Katherine delivered a brief speech to t he hundreds of fans who attended the event and then unveiled the stone tr ibute, which featured Michael Jackson in one of his most famous poses.
Comedian Eddie Griffin, a longtime Jackson family friend, provided a mo ment of humour at the Indiana ceremony when he performed an impromptu Mic hael Jackson dance routine on the lawn.
Meanwhile, back in California, brothers Randy, Tito and Jermaine and si ster Janet left Forest Lawn Cemetery together at 12.40pm local time after briefly chatting with fans and accepting flower gifts from them. (KL/WN/
