RANDY JACKSON DISAGREES WITH MOTHER’S GARY, INDIANA TRIBUTE
MICHAEL JACKSON’s brother RANDY is disappointed by his mother KATHERINE’s plans to join in celebrations marking the first anniversary of the pop s uperstar’s death in the family’s native Indiana, insisting he does not su pport the tribute.
The mayor of Gary, Rudy Clay, has announced a day of special events wil l take place on Friday (25Jun10) to celebrate the Thriller hitmaker’s leg acy in the town where he grew up.
Clay revealed Katherine Jackson will be the guest of honour as locals p erform, give speeches and hold a candlelight vigil - and she will unveil a monument to the King of Pop.
He told the Associated Press, "This is where it all started. Our love f or the Jackson family and Michael began before they were famous and it is still entrenched." But Randy Jackson is angry his mum has given her seal of approval for t he tribute - and he wants to make it clear he has nothing to do with the event.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "There is a co mmon concern about their (Jackson family members) lack of support and uni ty, especially now that we’re approaching June 25th.
"This is a very difficult time for me and my family… I don’t agree wi th many of their choices but they are my family and I do love them.
"Surprising as it may seem, this is the case…. I am not in support of the Gary event/trip or whatever it is…" Instead, Randy is backing a memorial at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gle ndale, California, where his brother was buried in September (10). He was instrumental in persuading cemetery bosses to lift their ban on fans so that Jackson devotees could pay their respects on Friday.
