WAYNE STRIKES PLEA DEAL - REPORT
Incarcerated rapper LIL WAYNE will escape further jail time after reporte dly striking a deal with U.S. prosecutors and pleading guilty to a 2008 d rugs charge, according to a new report.
The Lollipop hitmaker is currently serving 12 months behind bars at New York’s Rikers Island prison, after he was convicted of illegal weapons p ossession in an earlier case.
The rapper - real name Dwayne Carter - has also been embroiled in anot her legal case, stemming from a 2008 incident when authorities allegedly found cocaine, ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus at a border checkpoi nt in Dateland, Arizona.
He was arrested and pleaded not guilty to a string of weapons and drugs charges, but is now said to have agreed a deal with Arizona officials in Yuma County Superior Court after appearing via a live video feed on Frid ay (18Jun10).
Lil Wayne reportedly entered a guilty plea to one count of possession o f a dangerous drug, and now faces 36 months probation, which is slated to begin once his current sentence in New York ends.
Remaining charges, including misconduct involving weapons, possession o f drug paraphernalia and of a narcotic drug for sale, will be dismissed, reports YumaSun.com.
