NO MOVIE FOR SALINGER’S CATCHER
A representative for J.D. SALINGER’s publishing company has dismissed rum ours Hollywood bosses are in talks to turn his classic novel THE CATCHER IN THE RYE into a movie.
The legendary writer, who passed away in January (10), had long refused to sell the film rights to his iconic book, calling the story "unfilmabl e".
Rumours in recent weeks have suggested that Salinger’s heirs had entere d negotiations with film bosses to finally bring the book to the big scre en, but the late novelist’s publishers are adamant the speculation is not true and the rights are still not for sale.
A spokesman for Salinger’s publishers tells Britain’s Daily Telegraph n ewspaper, "There are no plans to sell the film rights."
