MARY KENNEDY TO UNDERGO EVALUATION FOR ALCOHOL TREATMENT

ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR.’s wife has been ordered to undergo a medical evalu ation to determine whether she requires treatment for alcohol abuse follo wing her arrest in New York earlier this month (May10).
Mary Richardson Kennedy was taken into custody on 15 May (10) after pol ice allegedly witnessed her drive her car onto a sidewalk outside a schoo l in Bedford.
She was arraigned in Bedford Town Court on Thursday (27May10), when sh e pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
Town Justice Kevin Quaranta suspended her license and ordered her to be examined "to determine if treatment is needed", according to her lawyer, Kerry Lawrence.
Kennedy, who was released on bail, must return to court on 15 July (10) ..
Her arrest came days after cops were called to the Kennedy family home following two separate distress calls, although no further action was tak en following the incident.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the son of assassinated politician Robert F. Ke nnedy, did not accompany his wife of 16 years in court.

GARY COLEMAN DEAD AT 42

Former child star GARY COLEMAN has died at the age of 42 after suffering a serious brain haemorrhage earlier this week (ends28May10).
The Diff’rent Strokes star, who suffered from a congenital kidney disea se, was admitted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on Wednesday (26M ay10) following a fall at his home.
He was fully conscious after the accident but his condition gradually w orsened. On Thursday (27May10) his manager, John Alcantar, revealed he wa s "unconscious and on life support".
Coleman’s wife Shannon decided to take him off life support early on Fr iday (28May10) and he died at around 12.05pm (local time) from an intracr anial haemorrhage.
A statement released by his rep reads: "Thanks to everyone for their we ll wishing and support during this tragic time. Now that Gary has passed, we know he will be missed because of all the love and support shown in t he past couple of days.
"Gary is now at peace and his memory will be kept in the hearts of thos e who were entertained by him throughout the years." Coleman, the adopted son of nurse Edmonia Sue and her partner W.G. Cole man, began his TV career in the early 1970s with small parts in The Jeffe rsons and Good Times before landing his breakthrough role as Arnold Jacks on in Diff’rent Strokes in 1978.
He starred for eight years alongside his TV brother Todd Bridges, who p layed Willis Jackson, as two African-American boys adopted by wealthy Cau casian widower Phillip Drummond (Conrad Bain).
Coleman fast became the show’s most popular star, known for his charact er’s catchphrase, "What’choo talkin’ ’bout Willis?" and eventually earned $100,000 (=C2=A366,670) per episode.
He went on to score his own animated series, The Gary Coleman Show, and voiced his character for a year before it was axed in 1983.
He later won guest roles in a variety of small screen projects, includi ng a cameo as Jackson in a 1996 episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, as we ll as appearances in TV sitcoms My Wife and Kids and Married… with Chil dren, and a voiceover part in The Simpsons.
Coleman also starred in a number of made-for-TV movies including The Ki d with the Broken Halo (1982), Playing with Fire (1985), Fox Hunt (1996) and 2003’s A Christmas Carol.
His last film role was in 2009’s Midgets vs. Mascots.
Despite his many TV and film appearances, Coleman struggled financially and he successfully sued his parents and former manager in 1989 for misa ppropriating his $3.8 million (=C2=A32.53 million) trust fund. In 1993, h e was awarded $1.28 million (=C2=A3853,340).
However, he filed for bankruptcy in 1999, citing the early mismanagemen t of his trust for his money problems.
Coleman was no stranger to the law and was arrested on a few occasions for assault and disorderly conduct.
His most recent arrest occurred in January (10) when he was suspected o f domestic violence following an alleged altercation with his wife Shanno n Price, who he wed in 2007. He was handed a fine in February (10) and or dered to attend domestic violence classes in exchange for avoiding jail.
The actor’s career was also overshadowed by his many health problems, a fter undergoing two kidney transplants in 1973 and 1984, which required f requent dialysis. He had heart surgery last year (09) and spent the past few months in and out of hospital suffering from seizures, which saw him collapse during a round of telephone interviews in January (10).
Coleman was hospitalised again in February (10) after another apparent seizure while on the set of U.S. TV news programme The Insider.
He is survived by his wife Price, who he reunited with in April (10) af ter a few months’ estrangement. The couple had no kids. (MT/WNWCZM&WNWC/I

BLACK EYED PEAS SURPRISE FANS WITH CRUISE CAMEO

TOM CRUISE joined his new pals the BLACK EYED PEAS on stage at their conc ert in London on Thursday (27May10) to debut their new song for the actor ’s upcoming movie KNIGHT AND DAY.
The Hollywood star convinced producers of the action film to allow the Black Eyed Peas to record a tune for the movie soundtrack and the actor j oined frontman will.i.am in the studio to watch him at work on Some Day.
They met up in London this week (ends28May10) when Cruise was in the ci ty to promote the new release and while the Boom Boom Pow hitmakers were on their European tour.
Cruise attended the band’s gig in the British capital with his wife Kat ie Holmes and he was pleasantly surprised when he was personally asked by singer Fergie to join the group under the spotlight for the show finale.
Cruise admits he was initially reluctant to take her up on the offer, b ut relented after the pop star taunted him as a "wuss".
He says, "Actually when they were performing, we all went to the show a nd Fergie sent a formal invitation to come onstage. She was like, ‘Yo, do n’t be a wuss, you gotta come onstage for the last song.’" The actor agreed, much to will.i.am’s delight.
The hip-hop star adds, "He came up, we rocked I Gotta Feeling, the crow d loved it. Fergie was the only one who knew about it (debuting Some Day) , but we had a real surprise for 21,000-something odd people." (MT/WNV/IG

Hitmaker M.I.A. worries for her son’s generation because the world’s youn gsters are fixated on videogame violence and the end of the world.

Rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS is making sure his kids have a happy childho od - he’s reportedly bought his on/off girlfriend KIM PORTER a luxury $5.
2 million (=C2=A33.46 million) home.
The star has treated Porter - mother of three of his five children - to a sprawling, six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion in exclusive Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, according to RealEstalker.com.
Situated on a gated estate with hi-tech surveillance cameras, it boasts a gym, cinema, library, marble floors, and even a temperature-controlled wine vault.
And the on/off couple’s three children - twin daughters D’Lila and Jess ie, and son Christian - will have plenty of room to roam around - the pro perty is surrounded by rolling lawns with an outdoor swimming pool.

WELLER DESIGNS FOR GALLAGHER’S PRETTY GREEN

Rocker PAUL WELLER has joined the creative team behind LIAM GALLAGHER’s P retty Green clothing label after proposing his design ideas to the OASIS star.
Gallagher launched the trendy fashion line last summer (Jun09) and his jackets and sweaters have become must-have items in his native U.K.
Weller reveals he is one of Pretty Green’s celebrity fans and he’s been in talks with the Wonderwall hitmaker to incorporate some of his own fas hion concepts.
He says, "I’ve got designs for suits, jackets, shoes - I’ve been talkin g to Liam about them. It’s the same principle as what he (Gallagher)’s do ing, really - stuff I’d wear myself." And Weller has good reason to get involved in Pretty Green - Gallagher named the label after the veteran star’s song of the same name, which was recorded with his former band The Jam.

CANNON TURNS MEDIA’S BABY SPECULATION ONTO PREGNANT PUPPY

MARIAH CAREY’s husband NICK CANNON has confirmed the couple is expecting a new addition to their family - their pet dog is pregnant.
The actor/rapper and his superstar wife are rumoured to be expecting th eir first child together after they were spotted leaving a fertility clin ic in Los Angeles earlier this month (May10).
Carey further fuelled the reports by mysteriously dropping out of Tyler Perry’s next movie, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When t he Rainbow Is Enuf, earlier this week (ends28May10).
Her representative revealed the decision was based on medical reasons, saying: "She is not doing the movie because her doctor advised her not to .. More than that I cannot comment further." And Cannon has failed to put a stop to the baby speculation by laughing off questions about Carey’s reported condition and turning the attention to another member of their family.
When asked by E! News if Carey was pregnant, he laughed, "That’s news t o me!" He then added, "I do want to make a big announcement… Russell Terrier puppy Zha Zha is pregnant again!"

DAVIS ADOPTS BABY ELEPHANT

SEX AND THE CITY star KRISTIN DAVIS is the proud mother of a baby elephan t she adopted in Kenya.
The animal-loving actress came across the mammal during her travels in between shooting the hit Sex and the City films and she decided to pay fo r it to be housed in a local shelter.
She tells Us Weekly magazine, "I adopted a baby elephant I found abando ned in Kenya. She lives at Kenya’s Sheldrick orphanage now."

COOPER STRUGGLED PLAYING ‘HORRIBLE’ HUSSEIN

British actor DOMINIC COOPER found it difficult portraying SADDAM HUSSEIN ’s son and his doppelganger in new thriller THE DEVIL’S DOUBLE - because the two men had completely different personalities.
The Mamma Mia! star took on the challenging role of the Iraqi dictator’ s son Uday in the film, as well as playing Latif Yahia - the man forced t o act as Hussein’s body double.
Yahia, who wrote the book the film is based on, was recruited to preten d to be Hussein from the age of 12, and was even made to undergo painful cosmetic procedures to enhance the likeness between the pair.
Cooper insists the roles have been his toughest to date - because he st ruggled to grasp how the two men could have grown up to be so different.
He tells the BBC, "It’s quite a horrible part. It was a difficult chall enge, trying to understand who this guy (Hussein) was and why he did such unbelievably terrible things, and then to play this innocent guy (Yahia) , who he forced at gunpoint to be his body double."

JAWS CAMERAMAN TURNED DREYFUSS ONTO BOOZE

A camera operator on the set of shark thriller JAWS was partly responsibl e for RICHARD DREYFUSS’ alcohol problems - because he introduced the acto r to booze.
Dreyfuss, who has battled sobriety and is now clean and sober, insists his problems started on the set of Jaws.
He explains, "My first drink, all I did was vomit. My second drink was on the set of Jaws and (camera operator) Mike Chapman looked at me and sa id, ‘What are you drinking…? I’m gonna teach you how to drink.’ And he did.
"I remember four hours later, totally clearheaded, getting up and my le gs stayed down. My torso got up and left but my legs stayed. I knew I was out of my mind!"

CATTRALL FEARED LOSING HER ENGLISH ACCENT FOR PLAY

Actress KIM CATTRALL banned herself from phoning her North American frien ds and family during her stint in London play PRIVATE LIVES - because she feared she would lose her perfectly primed English accent.
The Sex and the City star, 53, garnered critical acclaim when she appea red opposite Matthew Macfadyen in the West End production, about a divorc ed couple who discover they are honeymooning in the same hotel with their new spouses.
Cattrall, who was born in Liverpool, England but grew up in Canada and the U.S., had to adopt a particular accent for the comedy role and she wa s so worried about messing it up, she decided against catching up with he r pals and relatives for the duration of the play.
She says, "I was doing what they call received pronunciation which is t he Queen’s English, so I was talking proper for about three months. And I couldn’t call home, because every time I did, I would go back into the r ehearsal room with an American accent. So I was like, I can’t call home b ecause I’ve got to stay in this accent." The curtain came down on the hit comedy in early May (10) and Cattrall is now hoping to take the production to Broadway.

COLEMAN’S DIFF’RENT STROKES DAD ‘PRAYING’ FOR STAR

GARY COLEMAN’s TV dad CONRAD BAIN is "praying" for the former child star as he fights for his life in hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage ..
The diminutive Diff’rent Strokes star was admitted to Utah Valley Regio nal Medical Center on Wednesday (26May10) following a fall at his home. H e was fully conscious after the accident but his condition gradually wors ened and he went into a coma on Thursday (27May10).
On Friday (28May10), Coleman’s manager, John Alcantar, revealed the act or was "unconscious and on life support", and asked fans for their "thoug hts and prayers".
And Bain, who played Philip Drummond on the hit 1970s show, is keeping Coleman in his thoughts.

SHEEN REACHES PLEA DEAL WITH PROSECUTORS?

Actor CHARLIE SHEEN is facing a brief spell behind bars after striking a plea deal with prosecutors relating to an alleged altercation with his wi fe on Christmas Day (25Dec09), according to reports.
The Two and a Half Men star was arrested in Aspen, Colorado following a bust-up with Brooke Mueller in which he is accused of threatening her wi th a knife.
He entered a not guilty plea to third-degree assault, menacing, and cri minal mischief earlier this year (10) and a trial date was set for July ( 10), with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for 18 June (10).
But Sheen’s lawyers are said to have been negotiating with prosecutors to secure Sheen minimal prison time in exchange for changing his plea to guilty.
The actor will admit to a misdemeanour charge stemming from the fight a nd in return, the felony menacing charge will be dropped, reports UsMagaz ine.com.
A new court date has been set for 7 June (10), when the plea deal will be made official. Sheen has been ordered to attend the hearing to enter h is plea, which is expected to land him up to 45 days behind bars in Aspen ’s Pitkin County Jail.
Confirming the court date, Sheen’s attorney Richard Cummins says, "(The hearing was set) in contemplation of a final disposition being made that ’s acceptable to the district attorney’s office."

NELSON LANDS STREET NAME HONOUR

Country icon WILLIE NELSON will be honoured in his native Texas - officia ls in Austin have decided to name a street after the star.
The veteran singer hails from Abbott, Texas and has lived near Austin f or almost 40 years, and now officials in the city have announced they wil l be renaming a road in his honour.
A section of Second Street in Downtown Austin will soon be known as Wil lie Nelson Boulevard, according to the Austin American-Statesman newspape r.
City officials also plan to erect a life-sized statue of the 77-year-ol d musician in the area.

COWELL TO BE HONOURED WITH SPECIAL TV BAFTA

SIMON COWELL will be presented with a special honour at next month’s (Jun 10) British Academy (BAFTA) Television Awards.
The music mogul has been chosen by the Bafta committee to receive a tro phy for his "outstanding contribution (to TV) and for his development of new talent." The 50 year old could take home two awards at the 6 June (10) event - h is hit TV reality contest Britain’s Got Talent is nominated for Best Ente rtainment Programme.
It is the second special honour Cowell is set to receive in 2010 - he w ill also pick up an International Emmy award in November for having "resh aped 21st century television and music around the world." PARAMORE frontwoman HAYLEY WILLIAMS has been left seething after a hacker invaded her Twitter account and posted a topless picture of the star onl ine.
A photo of the singer lying on a bed and baring her breasts appeared on the social networking site on Thursday evening (27May10), sending fans i nto a flurry.
The explicit image was quickly deleted, and Williams later explained sh e had been the victim of an internet prankster.

KEYS SINGS WITH KASABIAN AND FERRY AT CHARITY GIG

Pregnant singer ALICIA KEYS celebrated her baby news by performing with B ritish rockers KASABIAN and crooner BRYAN FERRY at a benefit gig in Londo n on Thursday night (27May), which raised thousands of dollars for her ch ildren’s charity.
The Fallin’ hitmaker, who has confirmed she’s expecting a baby with her producer fiance Swizz Beatz, hosted the Black Ball in the British capita l in aid of her Keep A Child Alive foundation.
Keys played an intimate set at the gig, opening with her hit No One bef ore welcoming Kasabian stars Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno on stage to p lay the band’s song Underdog, before launching into a rendition of Where Did All The Love Go? The Grammy-winner was later joined by Ferry for performances of Roxy Mu sic’s Love Is The Drug and the veteran singer’s Slave To Love.
The evening also included a charity auction, hosted by Keys and actress Thandie Newton, featuring Christian Louboutin shoes worn by Keys and Bey once in the video for their duet Put It In A Love Song. The designer heel s sold for $22,500 (=C2=A315,000), while a guitar donated for Kasabian we nt for $9,750 (=C2=A36,500) and the chance to record a song with Swizz Be atz was sold to British boyband JLS for $45,000 (=C2=A330,000).
A photo-opportunity with Keys to be published in Britain’s OK! magazine raised $18,000 (=C2=A312,000) for the star’s charity, according to NME.c om.
