A string of stops on a country music tour featuring MONTGOMERY GENTRY and JAMEY JOHNSON have been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
Four June (10) concerts on the Country Throwdown, which also boasts Eri c Church and the Eli Young Band in the line-up, have been axed in the ven ture’s first year of touring across North America.
The cancellations include gigs in San Diego, California; Phoenix, Arizo na; and Houston and Dallas, Texas, reports Reuters.
A statement from Country Throwdown co-producer Kevin Lyman cites "low t ickets sales and too many shows competing with one another" for the cance llations.
He adds, "We are trying to bring a festival-style tour with 21 artists, at a reasonable and fair ticket price, but because most markets are curr ently flooded with shows, we end up cannibalizing one another and someone ends up with lower ticket sales.
"As a result, we can’t afford to keep the show on the road for all of i ts intended dates. It’s a first-year tour, and we expected year one to be full of key lessons, so that next year - and there will be a next year - is even better."

JUSTIN BIEBER is upset over reports he caused a scene on the set of an Au stralian talk show by swearing at a crew member who touched him.
The 16-year-old heart-throb stunned staff at morning TV show Sunrise la st month (Apr10) after allegedly cursing at a floor manager who directed him to the performance stage.
But Bieber has taken to the internet to assure fans speculation about h is bad behaviour is just "gossip".
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Family time w ith my mom couldn’t come at a better time… I was raised to respect othe rs and not gossip… nor answer gossip with anger.

Rockers INTERPOL have been forced to pull a string of dates from their U.
S. tour after losing their support slot on U2’s cancelled North American trek.
U2 scrapped all live dates for the summer (10) after frontman Bono was required to undergo emergency surgery in Munich, Germany last week (21May 10).
New York band Interpol was due to open for the Irish superstars on thei r 360 Degree shows in June (10) and July (10) - but they’ve now had to re route their tour as a result of U2’s decision.
Only four of Interpol’s original 15 dates remain but the group has prom ised to make amends to their fans for the change of plan.
In a message on their website, the rockers say, "Unfortunately, due to the postponement of the upcoming U2 US dates, Interpol has had to rework its summer tour schedule.
"With the exception of four shows, we have had to cancel our announced dates. Shows in Rochester, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Allentown will be hap pening. The rest of the shows will be rescheduled…
"We lament the change in plans, apologise for the inconvenience, and as sure you that we’ll do you right - when the time is right and the light i s nice."

Celebrity wrestler HULK HOGAN is recovering after undergoing back surgery this week (ends30May10).
The reality TV star underwent a four-hour operation on Wednesday (26May 10) to remove bone growths that had come loose from his spine, causing se vere pain.
The surgery was successful and Hogan was released from hospital later t hat night, reports TMZ.com.
The sportsman previously underwent laser surgery on his spine last summ er (Aug09) after collapsing during an episode of his daughter Brooke’s U.

TV and movie star TOM SELLECK has his sights set on Broadway - almost a d ecade after he made his theatre debut in New York.
The actor was a big hit in A Thousand Clowns in 2001 and he has been ke en to get back onstage ever since - but his film and TV career and his si deline as an avocado farmer in California have kept him too busy.
He says, "I’ll probably do a Broadway play soon. There’s a lot of possi bilities but it requires time which I’m happy to say I don’t have right n ow.

KRISTIN SCOTT THOMAS prefers making films in France because she’s convinc ed movie bosses in her native Britain are too "terrified" to cast older w omen in leading roles.
The English Patient star was born in Cornwall, England but has gained F rench nationality since moving to the country when she was a teenager.
And the 50 year old admits she has become disillusioned with the Britis h film industry, where mature actresses are snubbed in favour of younger stars.
Scott Thomas tells Easy Living magazine, "I think it’s because England tends to follow America so strongly or they’re making films for children - and when I say children I mean anyone under 25. I’m really getting evil in my old age! "French cinema is not afraid of women of my age. I think it’s less terr ified of disobeying the rules of what is beautiful and what is acceptable to look at…
"In fact, strangely, I feel much more confident about my appearance now , even with wrinkles on my face, than I did when I was 25. Which is bizar re, isn’t it? If one could preserve oneself at 45 then I think that would probably be ideal - but you can’t. Unfortunately lots of women try to do just that and that’s where they come a cropper (fail) because it doesn’t really work, does it?"

The embattled star, real name Andre Dow, was found guilty in 2008 for k illing fellow rapper Anthony ‘Fat Tone’ Watkins and his pal Jermaine ‘Cow boy’ Atkins.
Prosecutors argued the two murders were in revenge for the slaying of M inister’s associate, Mac Dre, in Kansas City, Missouri in 2004.

NICK JONAS is ecstatic about making his acting debut in London’s West End , calling his upcoming stint in LES MISERABLES "a dream come true".
The Jonas Brothers star began his career on Broadway and performed in a range of top productions as a child before shooting to fame as a pop sin ger with his siblings.
He last performed on the New York stage in a 2003 revival of Les Misera bles and on Thursday (27May10), revered London theatre producer Sir Camer on Mackintosh revealed Jonas was returning to the musical this summer (10 ) Jonas has confirmed the news on his Twitter.com page, revealing he can’ t wait to play Marius in the British capital.
He writes, "I am so excited to announce that I will be performing in Le s Mis=C3=A9rables once again! "When I was ten years old I was in Les Mis=C3=A9rables as Gavroche. On my closing night in 2003 I told my parents that I would come back to be M arius one day. It is truly a dream come true.

LEANN RIMES’ lawyers have fired off a cease-and-desist letter to her boyf riend EDDIE CIBRIAN’s estranged wife, banning her from criticising the co untry star in the press.
The singer/actress met and fell in love with Cibrian on the set of TV m ovie Northern Lights last year (09) and their romance hit the headlines w hen they were caught kissing on camera - while they were still married to their respective spouses.
Rimes subsequently split from her husband Dean Sheremet and Cibrian is currently locked in a bitter divorce battle with his ex, Brandi Glanville ..
The stars have since gone public with their relationship but Rimes is s till angry with Glanville for airing her grievances in the media during t he controversy.
Rimes reportedly ordered her legal team to issue the cease-and-desist n otice on Thursday (27May10), accusing Glanville of slander, according to E! News.
Glanville is required to respond to the legal note within five days - o therwise Rimes will reportedly file suit against her former love rival, a sking a court to grant a gagging order.

BEYONCE is facing legal action from a disgruntled Hollywood Hills residen t who alleges his privacy was disrupted when the R&B superstar filmed her new video in his quiet neighbourhood.
Philip Markowitz filed suit against Beyonce and production firm Kleiner & Company on Friday (28May10) over her new promo Why Don’t You Love Me.
He alleges he was rudely awakened at 7am on 26 March (10) when the film crew arrived in the exclusive Mount Olympus community in the Hollywood H ills and "invaded his neighbourhood".
Markowitz claims he was then prevented from leaving his property and ea ch time he stepped out of his house, he found members of the crew blockin g his driveway.
According to legal papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, he confr onted the promo staff about the problem and as a result, "missed several business calls while arguing calmly in his driveway".
The documents go on to state, "(Markowitz) demanded compensation for th e trespass on his property and the inconvenience and delay he had already suffered", but was told he could not be paid because it was a "low budge t film shoot".
Markowitz is suing on the grounds of private nuisance and trespass and is demanding unspecified damages and punitive costs, according to TMZ.com ..

Pop star KE$HA is fighting a $14 million (=C2=A39.3 million) lawsuit from her former managers amid allegations she failed to honour a commission d eal for helping her land a major recording contract.
Bosses at DAS Communications Inc. claim the singer signed a contract in 2006 agreeing to pay the New York-based firm 20 per cent of her earnings if they secured her a big music deal.
According to legal papers filed in New York on Wednesday (26May10), she was allowed to terminate their business relationship if they failed to d o so within a year.
The managers struggled to fulfil their side of the deal but Ke$ha repor tedly dismissed the deadline and continued to work with DAS.
In 2008, executives set up a deal with Warner Bros. Records - but Ke$ha ’s songwriter/producer pal Dr. Luke allegedly halted the negotiations and "induced, intimidated and convinced" the singer to fire DAS as her repre sentatives in September that year.
Ke$ha eventually signed to RCA/Jive Label Group and shot to fame with h er hit single TiK ToK. Her debut album, Animal, was co-produced by Dr. Lu ke and released in January (10).
He has also been named in the lawsuit and DAS bosses are seeking $12 mi llion (=C2=A39 million) from the music guru himself, reports the Associat ed Press.
However, Ke$ha’s lawyer, Charles Ortner, has hit back at the legal acti on, insisting the star was fully within her legal rights when she cut tie s with DAS, which is run by David Sonenberg.
He says, "This lawsuit seeks to require her to pay him commissions on h er RCA/Jive record deal that he (Sonenberg) had nothing to do with, long after she terminated him in writing."

GARY COLEMAN’s DIFF’RENT STROKES co-star CHARLOTTE RAE is leading the tri butes to the former child star, who died on Friday (28May10) at the age o f 42.
The actor was admitted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on Wednes day (26May10) after suffering a brain haemorrhage following a fall at his home earlier this week (begs24May10).
He lost consciousness on Thursday (27May10) and was placed on life supp ort but his wife, Shannon Price, decided to pull the plug on Friday morni ng. He died hours later at 12.05pm (local time).
Rae is one of the first of Coleman’s former colleagues to express her s orrow at his tragic passing, remembering the diminutive star as a "charmi ng" man.
She tells TMZ.com, "I said a prayer for him this morning after hearing about his condition. Gary was so loving, so charming. He was the big star of the show… He was the reason the show was a hit." Actor Ricky Shroeder, who found fame as a child on his own 1980s sitcom Silver Spoons, has also paid tribute to Coleman, whose career was blight ed by health, money and personal troubles.
In a statement to UsMagazine.com, he says, "Gary can now have the peace he found so little of in life." Singers Paula Abdul and Katy Perry and actresses Alyssa Milano and Meli ssa Joan Hart took to Twitter.com to pay their respects, while former ER star John Stamos issued a warning to parents looking to push their childr en into showbusiness.
Stamos tweeted, "Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be actors. r.i ..p. gary."
