LINDSAY LOHAN’s father is convinced the troubled actress would prefer jai l time to rehab - and that’s why she has jetted to the Cannes Film Festiv al in France just days before her probation hearing in Los Angeles.
The Mean Girls star is due to appear before Judge Marsha Revel at Bever ly Hills Courthouse and, according to reports, hasn’t completed court-ord ered alcohol education classes, as per the terms of her probation. The pu nishment stems from an incident in 2007 when she pleaded guilty to cocain e use and no contest to drink-driving and reckless driving charges.
As a result, Lohan could face a jail spell for testing the law, and her estranged father is convinced that’s just what she wants.
He tells X17online.com, "She thinks that three days in jail is better t han 60 days in rehab and she’s sadly mistaken. Lindsay doesn’t realise ho w horrible it is to be in jail for one, two, three days or longer. It’s s omething that would stick with her for the rest of her life and she doesn ‘t need any more torment." His lawyer Lisa Bloom adds, "The last time Lindsay went to jail, it was only for 84 minutes, so she probably feels that if she gets jail time, i t will be for a short period of time. If she thinks that, she’s playing w ith fire.
"I hope she’s back (from Cannes) in time. She’s known all along that th is hearing was coming up. Unfortunately, Lindsay decided to risk going to Europe… When you have a court date, come hell or high water, you be th ere.
"If she fails to show up for Thursday’s hearing, it’s almost certain sh e’ll be going to jail. She needs to show respect for the courts and let t he judge know that she’ll be attending her classes. Showing up on Thursda y is absolutely critical." Reports suggest if the actress does not show up for court, a warrant fo r her arrest will be issued.

JOHN TRAVOLTA and KELLY PRESTON are set to become parents again, accordin g to U.S. reports.
Jerry Maguire star Preston, 47, is three months pregnant, according to weekly magazine Star.
If the news is true, it’ll mark the end of a devastating period for the Travoltas, which began with the death of their teenage son Jett last yea r (Jan09) and ended with an airport tragedy in Maine last week (13May10), which claimed the lives of the family’s two pet dogs - who were run over by a service vehicle while they were being walked after a flight.
A source tells the publication, "Kelly is about three months pregnant. Both she and John are absolutely over the moon. They knew in their hearts that the time was right for this to happen." The couple also has a 10-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.

An artistic tribute to KURT COBAIN has opened in the late rocker’s native Seattle, Washington.
Kurt opened at the Seattle Art Museum on Monday (17May10) and features almost 80 multi-media works inspired by the tragic Nirvana star.
Items include a display from visual artist Rodney Graham, movies from f ilmmaker Douglas Gordon, and photographs of Cobain taken by Seattle photo grapher Alice Wheeler.
Museum curator Michael Darling says, "Most of the works date from 1994 and after, clearly suggesting that Kurt’s death motivated these artists, and so many others, to come to terms with his legacy." Cobain committed suicide in 1994.

Country singer CHELY WRIGHT will make her first big splash as a gay star since ‘coming out’ recently by performing at the The Gay & Lesbian Allian ce Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards in San Francisco, California n ext month (Jun10).
The Single White Female singer will join Sam Sparro on the bill at the annual prizegiving, which will honour Cybill Shepherd and Precious direct or Lee Daniels.
Actress Shepherd will receive the Golden Gate Award and Daniels will re ceive the Davidson/Valentini Award at the 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards.
Shepherd’s honour will be a family affair - her daughters Clementine Fo rd and Ariel Shepherd-Oppenheim will present mum with her award, which is presented to media professionals who, through their work, have "increase d the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community".

The handwritten lyrics to MICHAEL JACKSON’s BEAT IT are to go under the h ammer at a memorabilia auction in California next month (Jun10).
The late pop superstar gave his scribbled notes, signed by the King of Pop himself, to a producer pal.
Marc Kruskol, spokesman for auction house Profiles in History, says, "T his piece has been in private hands since being written. It’s an incredib le piece from the legendary King of Pop and it’s in fine condition." The Beat It lyrics won’t be the highlight of the memorabilia sale - the pink satin gown Marilyn Monroe wore in the Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Fr iend sequence in the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is sure to be the main lot.
Auction house bosses are calling the gown "the most important film dres s to ever come to auction".
The summer sale will also feature The Wicked Witch of the West’s hat, J ohnny Depp’s scissorhands from Edward Scissorhands and his Jack Sparrow j acket from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Other items include Darth Vader’s light saber from Star Wars: Episode V I - Return of the Jedi, Julie Andrews’ carpet bag from Mary Poppins and B ruce Lee’s ‘Kato’ signature from The Green Hornet.
The three-day auction will feature over 1,500 lots of Hollywood memorab ilia.
Monroe’s gown is expected to fetch between $150,000 (=C2=A393,750) and $250,000 (=C2=A3156,250). Jackson’s handwritten lyrics are expected to go under the hammer for between $4,000 (=C2=A32,500) and $6,000 (=C2=A33,75 0).

A representative for rocker PETE WENTZ and his wife ASHLEE SIMPSON-WENTZ has assured fans the couple’s son is "fine" after the tot was involved in a minor car accident on Tuesday (18May10).
The incident occurred in Cold Water Canyon in Los Angeles while young B ronx, almost 18 months, was being looked after by a nanny.
Wentz rushed to the scene of the accident to rescue the youngster but t he couple’s spokesperson insists no one was hurt.
The rep tells People.com, "It was a minor fender-bender and everyone is fine." Further details of the incident were unavailable as WENN went to press.

AXL ROSE has waged war against former GUNS N’ ROSES manager IRVING AZOFF, accusing him of attempting to sabotage the rocker’s career after he refu sed to reunite with the band’s original members.
Azoff, the CEO of management firm Front Line, originally filed suit aga inst Rose in March (10), claiming the singer reneged on an oral agreement giving him 15 per cent of his earnings from a big money concert tour - a deal said to be worth $2 million (=C2=A31.3 million).
But Rose has fired back at Azoff, accusing the music mogul of failing t o properly promote the band’s 2008 album Chinese Democracy in an alleged bid to force him to reform the original Guns N’ Roses line-up.
In legal papers filed in a Los Angeles court on Monday (17May10), the f rontman also takes aim at his one-time manager for allegedly lying about a possible joint tour with fellow rock legends Van Halen and mishandling Guns N’ Roses’ tour dates, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The lawsuit states, "Upon realizing that he couldn’t bully Rose and acc omplish his scheme, Azoff resigned and abandoned Guns N’ Roses on the eve of a major tour, filing suit for commissions he didn’t earn and had no r ight to receive." Rose is demanding more than $5 million (=C2=A33.3 million) in damages f or breach of fiduciary duty, constructive fraud and breach of contract.
The frontman formed Guns N’ Roses in 1985 with guitarists Izzy Stradlin and Tracii Guns, bassist Ole Beich and drummer Rob Gardner, but the grou p only shot to fame after replacing Beich and Guns with Duff McKagan and Slash, and bringing in Steven Adler after Gardner quit.

SHARON STONE regrets going under the knife for a lip plump during a momen t of weakness, insisting plastic surgery isn’t for her.
The Casino star admits she felt so low and lonely after her 2004 divorc e from publisher Phil Bronstein, she turned to cosmetic help in a bid to feel better about herself.
But the results were disastrous.
She tells More magazine, "(I thought) nobody loved me - ‘I’m 103. My li fe would be better if I had better lips." Afterwards, she had a "what the hell?" moment when she stared at her pl umped-up lips in the mirror - and was left horrified when lip gloss would n’t stay put and her lips no longer matched.

BILL COSBY has criticised Hollywood bosses for failing to recognise the e xtent of LENA HORNE’s acting talents when she was alive, insisting her gr oundbreaking career suffered as a result of racism.
Tributes poured in for Horne after the Grammy winner died at a New York hospital on 9 May (10), aged 92 - stars and politicians alike noted her grand achievements as an entertainer and civil rights activist.
Since her passing, Horne has also been hailed by U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle as one of the "most cherished" entertainers i n American history.
But comedian Cosby feels the tributes have come too late - because the same movie chiefs who snubbed the Stormy Weather singer/actress during he r youth are now praising her as an icon.
He explains, "Ms. Horne, as gorgeous as she is, should things have been right she should have been in Cleopatra, playing the part before Elizabe th Taylor… But the way things are with the racism, she would sing, and they would take her out. Any movie she was in was a variety show, so she didn’t really get to talk or anything…
"They offered her many things but… it was just a terrible time. Her p assing is just duplicitous, because I don’t know how you pay that back. T hey keep saying how she’s a great civil rights activist but I don’t know how you give somebody this gorgeous, this wonderful, this talented (those roles)… Racism… is a waste of time."

He tells MTV News, "Personal life is what it is. Everybody goes through it. Working on this record got me through it. Rockin’ with D (Marley) go t me through it. His whole squad, his whole team, the way he rides, his w hole culture. He didn’t have to push anything on me. He didn’t have to sa y anything particular. Just, I know this is my brother right here. Rockin ‘ with him, I kept my head clear and focused on what we was doing (sic), so it was all good." Australian singer/songwriter SIA has moved quickly to clarify comments an nouncing her retirement from music, insisting she will continue to record new material - she just won’t promote it.
The Destiny singer confessed this week (begs17May10) she is tired of li fe in the spotlight and wants a "normal job", revealing she would step ba ck from the music industry following the June (10) release of her fourth record, We Are Born.
Sia cited the negative aspects of fame, including having to deal with a "stalker" and the scrutiny of her bisexuality in the press, for the deci sion, claiming the unwanted attention sent her into a downward spiral of panic attacks and depression.
But Sia insists she has no plans to quit music altogether - she just wa nts to slow down.
In a statement issued to gossip blog PerezHilton.com, she writes: "I ju st wanted to let you know my plan, today at least. I am going to promote and tour the s**t out of this record because I am proud of it, and I have made a commitment to many people to do so.
"My plan is to keep making records, but not promote or tour them.
"My plan is to do maybe three gigs a year, in a different city of the w orld every year, until I’m too tired or fat to get out of the house." However Sia concedes her plans are subject to change and she’s still un sure about what the future holds: "Of course everything changes, and I do n’t want to be one of the kids that cry wolf for attention. I really am f inding it incredibly nerve wracking, being picked apart and observed and finding myself responsible for so many people’s feelings, needs and somet imes even incomes."

Hip-hop producer SWIZZ BEATZ is heading back to court to battle his ex-wi fe MASHONDA over missing alimony and child support payments.
Beatz, real name Kasseem Dean, split from the R&B singer in April 2008 after four years of marriage, and she filed for divorce in February, 2009 ..
Their split hit the headlines again when Beatz confirmed last May (09) that he is dating Alicia Keys, fuelling rumours he embarked on an affair with the Grammy winner while still in a relationship with Mashonda.
The former couple’s divorce was finalised earlier this month (May10), b ut in new papers filed in New York’s Manhattan Supreme Court, Mashonda cl aims her ex already owes her $334,000 (=C2=A3208,750) in late alimony and child support payments for their three-year-old son, Kasseem Jr.
Mashonda’s lawyer, Bernard Clair, called the non-payment "particularly troubling" after reports emerged suggesting Beatz had purchased a seven-c arat engagement ring for Keys earlier this year (09) and that the new cou ple is moving into a $14.5 million (=C2=A39.1 million) New York City pent house ahead of their rumoured summer nuptials.
But Beatz has dismissed the claims, branding them "inaccurate" and "ove rblown", reports the New York Post.

LADY GAGA was so impressed by a pre-teen internet sensation who wowed her with a rendition of her hit song PAPARAZZI, she has helped to land the b oy a deal with her record label.
Twelve-year-old Greyson Chance was invited onto Ellen DeGeneres’ daytim e talk show last Thursday (13May10) after impressing over eight million Y ouTube.com watchers with home video footage of his church talent show cov er of GaGa’s hit.
The pop star surprised the youngster when she called into the show and revealed she’d seen the clip.
Calling her protege "sweet and talented", she added, "I’m so excited th at you covered Paparazzi… Just keep following your dreams and work real ly hard and stay away from girls." GaGa has gone one step further by putting Chance in touch with her boss es at Interscope Records - and now he’s set to make his official pop debu t.
Chance’s sister Alexa has confirmed the deal, but admits they have been forced to keep the details secret.
She tells the New York Post: "He signed (with Interscope) but the manag ers said we really couldn’t talk about it." And the newcomer doesn’t just have GaGa backing him - according to the newspaper, officials at Chance’s school in Edmond, Oklahoma have been ref erring all calls about him to his new representative, Madonna’s manager G uy Oseary.
Representatives for Gaga, Interscope and Oseary had not responded to re quests for a comment as WENN went to press.

CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM stars SUSIE ESSMAN and JEFF GARLIN have been forced to quit Los Angeles for New York after TV bosses decided to move filming for LARRY DAVID’s comedy show to the east coast.
Chiefs at U.S. cable network HBO have confirmed the cast and crew will tape a season of the show for the first time in New York City.
And while native New Yorker Essman, who plays the foul-mouthed wife of Larry David’s agent on the series, is ecstatic about the big change - she ’s predicting it will cause a headache for her co-stars.
