JAGGER STILL STRUGGLES ENTERING AMERICA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

MICK JAGGER struggles to clear U.S. immigration every time he visits Amer ica - because of his drug conviction more than 40 years ago.

The Rolling Stones rocker was convicted of possessing marijuana in 1969 , and even though it was decades ago, he still gets questioned by immigra tion officials whenever he lands in the U.S.
Jagger tells talk show host Larry King, "It was a long time ago… Ever y time I come to the United States I still have to sort of go to the spec ial place… Even though it’s 40-something years ago. The marijuana convi ction, yes. I have to go into a room… You can’t go through - you know t he immigration line? So sometimes if there is someone that knows somethin g about how to deal with it, they can do it. But normally I have to go to a special room."

JAGGER CALLS FOR LEGAL DRUGS TRIAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:51 pm

ROLLING STONES rocker SIR MICK JAGGER is calling for government officials to legalise marijuana on a British island - to see if it prevents drug-r elated violence.
The singer, who was convicted of possessing narcotics in the 1960s, ins ists youngsters will always experiment with substances, despite the risk of negative side effects.
He is now urging officials to legalise cannabis on the Isle of Man - a British Crown dependency in the Irish Sea - for a limited time to test th e consequences of an end to drug prohibition.
Jagger tells U.S. talk show host Larry King, "The whole question of leg alising drugs is fraught… You usually try these things out in very smal l places… You know, like you try a new product out in a small kind of s ociety or an island somewhere. And in England they always try out new mob ile phones (cell phones) in (the) Isle of Man. They’ve got a captive soci ety. So I said, you should try - you should try the legalisation of all d rugs on the Isle of Man and see what happens.
"Human beings seem to have a propensity to want to take drugs in some f orm… It seems to be the propensity of human beings to want to use them.
… I think you have to take that as read, you know.
"But then what do you do when it affects so many people’s lives, and no t in a good way. And then also you get a lot of violence at both ends of the scope. So you get violence in some countries… which, like, we have in Mexico now, and you get violence at the other end of people trying to obtain drugs. That’s the part that speaks to some sort of legalisation. B ecause that, you would hope, would help the violence from both ends of th e supply line."

The bass player tended the star’s burial site in Macclesfield, England on Tuesday morning (18May10) to mark 30 years since Curtis committed suic ide in 1980.
He then went on to stage a special one-off gig in the band’s hometown o f Manchester, during which he performed their 1979 debut album Unknown Pl easures in full.
Hook tells NME.com, "I went to see Ian’s grave this morning as it was s uch a beautiful day that I thought I’d go and say hello to him and see ho w he was. It’s really odd after all these years, that when you go and do something like that, that you see all these tributes (at the grave) and i t’s really nice." The 54 year old admits preparing for the concert was a reflective time for him, adding: "The preparation for the gig was very interesting as it was the first time I’d analysed the music since we wrote it. The funny th ing is I never realised how many words Ian used to sing, every song is li ke a wonderful essay without much repetition, which means I had to learn so much that it has made me put his role in the band into a whole new per spective.
"I noticed a lot of really neat little songwriting tricks that he uses a lot and it’s only when you analyse them that you notice them, as when I just listen to them, I know it’s really good, but you don’t know why." (
