TORN’S 2008 DUI CHARGE DISMISSED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:24 pm

A 2008 drink driving charge against RIP TORN has been wiped from the acto r’s record after he completed court-ordered alcohol education classes.
The Men In Black star, real name Elmore Rual Torn, was pulled over by p olice on 14 December, 2008 after he was spotted driving along the breakdo wn lane on a highway in Connecticut.
He failed part of a field sobriety test after giving up halfway, claimi ng the ground wasn’t level enough, and he refused to take a breath test. He pleaded not guilty to allegations of illegal operation of a motor vehi cle while under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane.
A Connecticut judge granted Torn probation and ordered him to enrol in alcohol tutorial sessions, offering to clear the DUI count upon completio n.
The case was reviewed at Bantam Superior Court on Friday (21May10) and Judge Cara Eschuck dismissed the charge after ruling the 79 year old was in compliance with the terms of his probation.
But Torn’s legal problems are far from over - the actor will return to court on Tuesday (25May10) to face charges stemming from his arrest in Ja nuary (10), when he was caught breaking into a Connecticut bank, clutchin g a revolver. The star told cops he thought the building was his home.
He pleaded not guilty to a string of offences in March (10), including carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree c riminal mischief, before checking himself into an alcohol treatment centr e in New York.

The doctors would have made him get it immediately if he needed it, but Sharon confirmed with me he did need a b ypass.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN may have lost another movie role thanks to her extended sta y at the Cannes Film Festival in France - a judge has forbidden the actre ss from leaving Los Angeles.
Lohan appeared before Judge Marsha Revel on Monday morning (24May10) - five days after she failed to appear at a mandatory hearing - and was ord ered to refrain from drinking or doing drugs for the foreseeable future.
The judge, who initially issued a warrant for the star’s arrest last Th ursday (20May10) after she failed to show up, told Lohan she could remain free on bail, but she must wear a SCRAM device on her ankle and submit t o random drug tests.
Judge Revel also insisted the actress must attend weekly alcohol educat ion classes.
The lawmaker ruled that Lohan risked jail if she failed to comply with any of the stipulations of her bail.
Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, pointed out that the restrictions would prevent Lohan from travelling to Texas for a movie, but the judge was unsympathetic.
The actress angered Judge Revel when she failed to show in court last w eek, claiming her passport had been stolen at the Cannes Film Festival an d she was unable to get back to Los Angeles in time. She flew in on Sunda y (23May10).
In a pre-hearing interview with Hollywood.tv, Lohan insisted she didn’t deserve jail time or a rehab stint.
She said, "I don’t see what reason I would go to prison for. I’ve been more than compliant with everything having to do with the court system." The actress failed to complete a prior court-ordered alcohol education course.

RIHANNA URGES GIRLS NOT TO SLIM DOWN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

RIHANNA is urging young girls not to embark on drastic diets in a bid to emulate catwalk models - insisting "size zero" is "not realistic and it’s not healthy." The 22-year-old star, who is famed for her slender figure and outlandis h sense of style, is worried the fashion industry is indoctrinating women with an unhealthy attitude towards body image by only using super-skinny girls on the catwalk.
And the Umbrella hitmaker is adamant youngsters should never try to cop y their idols because it is not "possible" to maintain such a tiny frame.
She tells Britain’s You magazine, "You shouldn’t be pressured into tryi ng to be thin by the fashion industry, because they only want models that are like human mannequins. They know that if we see an outfit on a manne quin in a shop window we will love it and want to buy it whatever size we are. That’s why they have size zero models - they want to sell clothes.
"You have to remember that it’s not practical or possible for an everyd ay woman to look like that. Being size zero is a career in itself so we s houldn’t try and be like them. It’s not realistic and it’s not healthy."
