JONAS & LOVATO SPLIT

JOE JONAS and DEMI LOVATO have split two months before they’re scheduled to hit the road together.
The 20-year-old Jonas Brothers singer and the teenage pop sensation wil l tour together this summer, beginning with a show in Dallas, Texas on 27 July (10) - but they won’t be together in real-life, according to People ..com.
The couple went public with the romance in March (10) when they showed up at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards holding hands.
Jonas, who previously dated Taylor Swift, said, "We’ve been best friend s for the longest time and now we’re just kind of taking the next step an d it’s been really fun." Lovato added, "Over time feelings grow, and, for me, as much as I wante d to deny it, the feelings were always there."

BYRNE SUES FLORIDA POLITICIAN OVER ROAD TO NOWHERE

Former TALKING HEADS star DAVID BYRNE is suing a Florida politician for u sing his ROAD TO NOWHERE hit as a campaign anthem - without permission.
The rocker is seeking $1 million (=C2=A3666,600) in damages from state Governor Charlie Crist, for using the 1985 song in an online ad attacking his one-time opponent Marco Rubio.
Byrne filed his suit on Monday (24May10) in Tampa, Florida.
He tells Billboard.com, "I was pretty upset by that… (This) is not ab out politics… It’s about copyright and about the fact that it does impl y that I would have licensed it and endorsed him and whatever he stands f or." Byrne is being represented by attorney Lawrence Iser, who helped Jackso n Browne win a copyright court battle against former U.S. presidential ca ndidate John McCain, who illegally used Browne’s song Running on Empty as a campaign song.
Iser says, "I was fairly astonished that this soon after the settlement of Browne vs. McCain, yet another politician with national aspirations i s doing this again."

LOVE OFFERED $162 MILLION FOR NIRVANA RIGHTS

COURTNEY LOVE has been offered a staggering $162 million (=C2=A3108 milli on) for her majority stake in NIRVANA’s back catalogue.
The Hole frontwoman inherited the band’s publishing rights when her hus band and Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain committed suicide in 1994.
She sold off 25 per cent of the End of Music catalogue in 2006, pocketi ng $50 million (=C2=A333.35 million), but Love recently admitted she was considering offloading her remaining 75 per cent share after becoming con vinced the royalty payments she receives are "cursed".
She insisted the decision was motivated by emotions, not financial gain , because she simply wants to move on from the Cobain tragedy.
She said, "I’m thinking about selling off all of Kurt’s publishing. All of the rights, everything. It’s not a financial decision; it’s an emotio nal one.
"He was the best friend I’ve ever had, but Kurt and I were only married for three years, and now I need to have my own life. I’m always ‘the wid ow’ and that drives me nuts. That money has been cursed since the day it started to come in. It’s not really my money." Executives at Evergreen Capital are keen to relieve Love of her worries and have stepped up with the big money offer, reports the New York Daily News.
A source says, "Courtney thinks the catalogue comes with too many memor ies. It’s haunted." Love has yet to respond to the offer.

ROBERTS TRAINED FOR HALF-MARATHON ON MOVIE SET

Movie star JULIA ROBERTS made the most of her downtime while making new m ovie EAT, PRAY, LOVE - by training for a half-marathon.
The Pretty Woman star reveals her husband Danny Moder persuaded her to test herself by taking on the 13.5-mile (21.7-kilometre) charity run in C alifornia in December (09) once filming on the epic movie wrapped and Rob erts was back in America five months after travelling through India, Ital y and Bali.
And she admits that training in the heat of India, Bali and an Italian summer gave her an advantage.
She says, "I trained a lot while I was doing the movie and it was so ho t there, I think it was to my advantage that I had trained under such dir e circumstances." Roberts admits she had a very special reason to take part in the marath on: "I just wanted to show my kids that the power of a female body is mor e than just giving birth, which is a great power… and my kids were out there, they made me a sign."

NO COLLEGE FOR CYRUS

Teen superstar MILEY CYRUS won’t be putting her career on hold to attend college.
The singer/actress has revealed Middle Tennessee State University would be her first choice if she was seeking further education - because that’ s the college her sister attended - but she won’t be following young star s like Emma Watson and Julia Stiles, and signing up for college life.
The 17 year old told Q100’s Bert Show on Monday morning (24May10), "My sister went to MTSU in Nashville, so I’d probably want to be there with a ll my friends, but I’m not gonna go to college right now.
"I’m a firm believer that you can go back at any age you want, because my grandma went back to college at 62 years old."

CATTRALL EYES BROADWAY MOVE FOR PRIVATE LIVES

Actress KIM CATTRALL wants to return to Broadway in a new revival of NOEL HOWARD’s PRIVATE LIVES after wrapping a critically-acclaimed run in Lond on’s West End.
The Sex and the City star, 53, appeared opposite Matthew Macfadyen in t he British production, about a divorced couple who discover they are hone ymooning in the same hotel with their new spouses.
The curtain came down on the U.K.’s hit comedy earlier this month (03Ma y10) and now Cattrall has her sights set on transferring the play to the New York stage.
She says, "It’s the third play that I’ve done in the West End.
"We would love to bring it to Broadway, we hope we can bring it to Broa dway, I would love to come back. With everyone’s schedule, I hope we can do it." Cattrall previously appeared on Broadway in 1987 in comedy Wild Honey.

BLOOM TO DISCUSS LIFE WITH DYSLEXIA

Actor ORLANDO BLOOM is set to open up about living with dyslexia at a fre e lecture in New York.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star, 33, learned to overcome the learning disability at a young age and earned a scholarship at the British Americ an Drama Academy in his native U.K., before going on to study acting at L ondon’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
And he will share his experiences with the public when he sits down for a talk with Dr. Harold S. Koplewicz next week (02Jun10) at the Child Stu dy Center Foundation event at Rockefeller University.
The lecture, titled Dyslexia and Creativity: Two Sides of the Same Coin , aims to raise awareness about the condition among educators, mental hea lth professionals and parents.

PARKER SLAMS ‘LUDICROUS’ FIGHTING REPORTS

SARAH JESSICA PARKER has slammed ongoing reports she doesn’t like her SEX AND THE CITY co-stars, insisting she feels honoured to work with her lea ding ladies.
Earlier this month (May10) Parker, along with Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nix on and Kristin Davis, opened up about long-standing rumours suggesting th ey frequently argue onset, admitting they have experienced the occasional bust-up.
Parker revealed the four actresses often clash due to their long work d ays and close environment, saying, "There are times when all of us have b een sensitive, and sometimes feelings get hurt." But the actress insists she only agrees to make more Sex scenes because she enjoys working with her co-stars so much.
She tells British show Live From Studio Five, "I think the one (rumour) that really still blows my mind is the idea that we are fighting, you k now, that we would keep coming back to this environment and this situatio n time and time again voluntarily and not like each other is ludicrous.
"And I think it also so misses the real characterisation of what happen s in our lives and on this set and it is a great honour to be working wit h those women. They are the reason that I come back time and time again."

KUTCHER KNOCKED OUT STUNTMAN ON KILLERS SET

ASHTON KUTCHER has pledged to get serious about his movie fighting techni ques after accidentally knocking out a stuntman on the set of his latest film.
The actor reveals he signed up for Fillipino knife fighting lessons and did some training to get into shape for new action comedy Killers - but was far from ready for combat on the set.
He tells WENN, "I bought those exercise DVD tapes off the TV and that’s how I got in shape and I did some fight training and then I realised I s hould learn how to movie fight because, in the first fight scene, I knock ed out a stunt guy.
"We were on a yacht in the wind and the boat was shaking and he threw a punch and I blocked it and I punched him and knocked him out. I felt rea lly bad about that.
"And then I kicked (co-star) Rob Riggle in the face. I hurt a lot of pe ople. I just should’ve let the stunt guy do everything to be perfectly ho nest and stick to just making jokes!"

BRACELET WILL CHECK LOHAN FOR ALCOHOL EVERY 30 MINUTES

LINDSAY LOHAN’s latest accessory will check her body’s alcohol levels eve ry 30 minutes.
The actress left a Beverly Hills courthouse on Monday (24May10) wearing an alcohol-detecting device strapped to her ankle after facing Judge Mar sha Revel, who ordered the Mean Girls star not to leave California and no t to drink alcohol or take drugs for the foreseeable future.
The hearing came five days after Lohan missed a mandatory court appeara nce because she was stranded in Europe without a passport.
Lawmakers use the SCRAMx bracelet the actress has attached to her ankle to monitor people convicted of alcohol-related offences.
Lohan must wear the tamper-proof device at all times.
If she fails to meet the sober conditions of her bail, Lohan faces jail ..

QUAID LAUNCHING NEGLIGENCE LAWSUIT

Actor DENNIS QUAID is launching a negligence lawsuit against a healthcare company after his twins were given a potentially lethal dosage of medica tion in 2007.
The star claims Baxter Healthcare, which manufactures drug Heparin, is partly responsible for the hospital error, which left his children, Zoe a nd Thomas, fighting for their lives after they were administered 10,000 u nits of the medication, instead of 10.
In the documents Quaid alleges the twins’ damage "may be permanent in n ature" and is "likely to cause serious complications in the future".
He also claims the labels for Heparin are a "totally foreseeable and pr edictable" error and Baxter bosses should have taken steps to warn and to distinguish the drugs "knowing of the danger of an inadvertent mix-up".
Quaid is seeking medical expenses and punitive damages. He has also cal led on the healthcare company to create a fund to cover his twins’ future medical expenses.
The actor and his wife Kimberly agreed to a $750,000 (GBP500,000) settl ement with hospital bosses at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 2008 over the near-fatal mishap.
Documents show the Quaids previously sued Baxter Healthcare over the dr ug’s packaging, but that case was dismissed.

SLIPKNOT’S BASSIST GRAY DIES

SLIPKNOT bassist PAUL GRAY has been found dead in an Iowa hotel room, age d 38.
The musician’s body was discovered on Monday morning (24May10) by a hot el employee at the TownePlace Suites hotel in Urbandale.
Cops were called to the scene and later reported there was no evidence of foul play.
Police are continuing to investigate Gray’s passing and an autopsy to h elp determine the cause of death has been scheduled for Tuesday (25May10) .. Toxicology tests will also be carried out.
Gray co-founded the mask-wearing heavy rockers in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Brenna, who is expecting the pair’s first c hild later this year (10).
Announcing the baby news on his blog in December (09), Gray wrote, "I f ound out this weekend that my wife Brenna is pregnant and I am the happie st man on the face of the earth, literally! I will keep everyone updated as things progress! This has been the best Christmas I have ever had!" (K

BELLADONNA SCRAPS SOUTH AMERICAN SHOWS

ANTHRAX frontman JOEY BELLADONNA has scrapped his solo South American tou r due to logistical problems.
The heavy rocker was hoping to schedule the shows before Anthrax hit th e road in Europe this summer (10), but has run out of time.
In a message to fans on Monday (24May10), Belladonna wrote, "It is with deep sadness and regret that we have to announce the cancellation of my South American tour coming up at the end of this month.
"I love playing for the fans and the last thing I hate to do is cancel shows and disappoint my fans; without you I would not be able to live my dream as a musician. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our contr ol, we have to announce the cancellation of the upcoming Belladonna tour of South America.
"My team has been hard at work planning this tour with the promoters do wn in South America since January. With the recent earthquakes that have happened down there, we thought we would have to postpone or cancel the t our, but the promoters all scrambled to find new venues and we did everyt hing we could to make this tour happen.
"My staff has been hard at work trying to salvage these tour dates, but were unable to do so." Belladonna recently rejoined Anthrax. He was the band’s frontman from 1 985 to 1992.

BROWN TO STAR IN DOCU-COMEDY SERIES

MELANIE BROWN has landed her own docu-comedy series, which will focus on her life as a singer, actress and mum.
The former Spice Girls star will front The Mel B Project, which will ai r on the Style Network in the U.S., and TV bosses are convinced they have a hit on their hands.

KATY PERRY has dismissed reports she and fiance RUSSELL BRAND are to wed in India, insisting pal RIHANNA had her facts wrong when she recently rev ealed all about the big bash.
Rihanna recently told Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest she was struggling t o come up with ideas for the I Kissed a Girl singer’s Indian-themed bache lorette party, and let it slip that the couple was planning to return to the place where they became engaged at the end of 2009 to exchange vows l ater this year (10).
But, appearing on the same radio show on Monday (24May10), Perry insist ed Rihanna was "a little confused".
She said, "I heard a rumour that someone dropped where we were getting married on a little radio programme… I haven’t told her where were are getting married. AEROSMITH LAND $1 MILLION FOR FAIR SHOW

AEROSMITH will make New York State Fair history in August (10) by becomin g the first act to command a $1 million (=C2=A3666,600) performance fee.
According to Syracuse.com, fair bosses have guaranteed the rockers $1 m illion - $200,000 (=C2=A3133,300) more than the fee they paid to both Ras cal Flatts and Taylor Swift in 2008.
Furthermore, if the Aerosmith show on 26 August (10) sells out, the ban d will take home an extra $300,000 (=C2=A3200,000) more.
Ticket prices for the show have hit a new record too - the $104 (=C2=A3 69.30) top-priced ticket is $34 (=C2=A322.60) higher than the fair has ev er charged for a concert, according to Blabbermouth.net.

MICHAELS TO UNDERGO HEART SURGERY LATER THIS YEAR

BRET MICHAELS will undergo surgery later this year (10) to mend his broke n heart.
The rocker is recovering from a triple health crisis and now has his si ghts on getting 100 per cent healthy - and that means having a recently d iagnosed hole in his heart repaired.
The Poison star discovered he had a heart problem after suffering a mil d stroke last week (ends21May10).
Michaels tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "They’ll (surgeons) go in and they’ll do the heart operation in the fall. They have to let every thing clear out and then they’ll go in and do the operation in my heart a nd then I’m gonna be great.
"I don’t have any other options except to think that it’s gonna be grea t, it’s gonna be a smooth operation and I’m gonna feel awesome." In the past month, the brave star has fought back from an emergency app endectomy and a brain haemorrhage - as well as last week’s stroke.
He admits the brain haemorrhage, in particular, was "one of the scaries t moments in my life".
Michaels ignored his doctor’s advice to rest and showed up for the tele vised live finale of hit reality TV show The Apprentice in New York on Su nday (23May10).
The rocker, who won the business contest outright, says, "I just made t he decision I have to set a goal in my life and yes, they (doctors) were very adamant that this is not the best thing to do… (but) it rocked." (

WALTERS’ MO DOMINATES BAFTA TV CRAFT AWARDS

JULIE WALTERS’ star turn as British politician MO MOWLAM dominated the Br itish Academy Television Craft Awards on Sunday (23May10), picking up thr ee top honours.
The actress played the Labour Party politician in Mo, and, on Sunday, i t earned awards for Best Director: Fiction, Best Editing: Fiction and Bes t Make-up and Hair Design at the Craft Awards.
Gritty drama Red Riding was a double winner, scooping Best Costume Desi gn and Best Photograph & Lighting: Fiction.
Simon Cowell’s The X Factor fought off competition from The Apprentice, Britain’s Got Talent and Top Gear to pick up the Best Entertainment Prod uction Team honour.
