Rockers SYSTEM OF A DOWN have won their battle with the bosses of a Briti sh publishing company who accused the band of ripping off an Iraq War pro test song they own.
Maxwood Music executives sued Daron Malakian and Serj Tankian for royal ties from their Grammy Award-winning hit B.Y.O.B., claiming they owned a 50 per cent share in the tune.
The music bosses claimed they bought the rights to the song from Casey Chmielinski, aka Carey Chaos, who allegedly co-wrote the track.
But the case has now come to an end - a judge in Manhattan, New York ha s ruled that the bandmates do not owe royalties to Maxwood Music. (KL/WNW

Rocker JOHN FOGERTY’s 1985 baseball anthem CENTERFIELD is to be inducted into the sport’s Hall of Fame.
The former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman will perform the song at the 2010 induction festivities held at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown , New York in July (10).
He’ll donate his custom-made, baseball bat-shaped guitar for display in the sports museum.
Fogerty tells Billboard.com, "I’m a guy who’s grown up loving baseball and loving the whole tradition, and of course I’ve been to Cooperstown a couple times. It’s just fascinating for me to be a participant now. (KL/W

A young Filipino singer discovered by OPRAH WINFREY has landed her bigges t break - she has joined the cast of GLEE.
Teenager Charice will be a regular in the second season of the hit TV s how, according to the Phillippine Daily Inquirer.
The singer’s manager, Grace Mendoza, tells the publication, "Charice wi ll soon join Glee… and not just as a guest, but as part of the cast in a new season." The news marks a remarkable week for the 18 year old, who landed the nu mber eight slot on last week’s (ends21May10) Billboard charts in the U.S.
with sales of 42,985 for her self-titled debut.
She says, "This has been the most exciting week of my life." Charice became an international sensation when a fan posted a performan ce of the young star taking part in a talent contests in Southeast Asia o nline.
After Oprah took an interest, songwriter David Foster offered to produc e her debut album.

SLIPKNOT star PAUL GRAY’s death will remain a mystery until toxicology re ports are available after police in Iowa failed to determine a cause foll owing an autopsy.
The bassist was found dead in a suburban Des Moines hotel on Monday (24 May10). He was 38.
Initial reports suggested police did not suspect foul play. In a statem ent released on Tuesday (25May10), officers revealed the death is still u nder investigation.
Polk County Medical Examiner Gregory Schmunk expects the results from t he toxicology tests to be available next month (Jun10).
Police say the autopsy did confirm there was no evidence of foul play o r trauma, and that Gray had been dead for several hours when his body was discovered by a hotel staff member.

Troubled hip-hop mogul MARION ‘SUGE’ KNIGHT has been ordered to stay away from a Los Angeles-based associate amid allegations he threatened to hav e the man killed.
The complainant, whose identity has not been released, filed papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday (24May10) asking a judge to g rant him a restraining order to keep Knight at a distance.
In the legal documents, he claims Knight "had 8 guys come to my house a nd told them to get me or kill me".
The alleged incident is said to have taken place on Friday (21May10), j ust a day after Knight was released on bail following a confrontation at a Los Angeles gas station.
The Death Row Records founder was apprehended after cops were tipped of f about a man reportedly pointing a firearm at another car from his Cadil lac Escalade.
It is unknown if the two cases are linked, but the scared associate cla ims Knight warned him "he was out now and going to take my life", reports TMZ.com.
Knight must appear in court on 8 June (10) to respond to the allegation s.

Actor ADRIEN BRODY served up a grisly gift for his mum’s birthday on Mond ay (24May10) - her favourite chat show host’s finger.
The Pianist star was appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! when he took a mom ent to wish his mother a happy birthday.
Apologising for not getting the chance to send the gift to her in time, Brody picked up a box, looked into the camera and told his mum that ther e was a special gift from both himself and Kimmel inside.

CATHERINE ZETA-JONES paid an emotional tribute to her husband MICHAEL DOU GLAS on Monday (24May10) when she praised him for his role as a father at an industry gala celebrating his acting career.
The Fatal Attraction star was the guest of honour at the Film Society o f Lincoln Center event in New York, where he was presented with the 2010 Chaplin Award by his father, acting icon Kirk Douglas.
But his Hollywood achievements weren’t the sole focus of the ceremony - Douglas’ friends and family also championed him for his personal attribu tes.
Actress Zeta-Jones told the audience, "The role that I’m so proud of, a nd there have been many… is the role of father.

Oscar winner ADRIEN BRODY has bought the historic barn in which his chara cter has sex with a laboratory experiment gone wrong in new film SPLICE.
The actor is assembling the old building on his New York state farm.
He says, "I had such an intimate scene and that’s where the scene takes place - in the barn, and I wanted to keep the memory.
"They (crew) were gonna dismantle it and I didn’t know what was gonna h appen. What they did was they found this beautiful early 19th century bar n in northern Canada, they dismantled it, they reassembled it in a sounds tage… and they didn’t know what they were gonna do with it, so I said, ‘I’ll take it’."

The studio executive behind LINDSAY LOHAN’s LINDA LOVELACE biopic has def ended the actress’ decision to attend the Cannes Film Festival days befor e an mandatory probation hearing, insisting her presence in France was ne cessary to sell the project.
The Mean Girls star left Los Angeles for France without completing cour t-ordered alcohol education classes. She then had her passport stolen in Europe and was unable to make it back to Los Angeles in time for her cour t date last week (20May10).
A warrant was issued for her arrest, but the notice was recalled after assistants posted $10,000 (=C2=A36,670) of her $100,000 (=C2=A366,700) ba il.
Lohan appeared in a Beverly Hills court on Monday (24May10) and she ban ned her from leaving Los Angeles and ordered to refrain from drugs and al cohol for the foreseeable future. She was also fitted with an alcohol-mon itoring ankle bracelet.
Now, Muse Films production boss Jonathan Fong insists the drama was nec essary - because Lohan had to travel to Cannes and her time at the festiv al was all about business.
He tells UsMagazine.com, "The purpose of the trip was for sales. That w as her role as the star, making press appearances in support of the movie .. She showed up at other parties, but she was promoting the movie in the atmosphere. It helps to sell the movie to have her meet with the people w ho will fund the film." And Fong is standing by the troubled star, who will portray the porn qu een in Inferno, insisting, "Lohan is still attached to the project." Production on the movie is expected to begin in the autumn (10).

N-DUBZ rapper DAPPY has promised his fans he will become a "better person " following a string of scandals which jeopardised his career.
The British star has long bragged of how he worked hard to escape the t ough inner-London estate where he grew up to be part of the chart-topping U.K. band.

He tells New! magazine, "I have regrets, but I’m putting the bad stuff behind me and I think I’m coming out a better person.
"I know violence isn’t good for you. Education and being a rapper and a singer is good. Anything you want to do in life, you can do it. Drugs, g uns, knives - stay away from it. I’m not who I am now through that - it’s through my talent."

KELLY ROWLAND refused to rule out a duet with CHRIS BROWN despite his inf amous fight with RIHANNA, insisting she only judged the R&B singer on "hi s talent".
The former Destiny’s Child singer teamed up with Brown for a new track, which will reportedly feature on her next album, and was determined to l ook past his personal life for the project.
She tells PinBoardBlog.com, "Chris Brown and I did a record together. I don’t judge anybody, as many people point fingers towards someone (and) there are four more pointing at us. I judge Chris on his talent.
"I think people forget that they weren’t there and who the hell are the y to judge anybody? That was something that happened between them (Brown and Rihanna) and the people that they’re around. Rocker SCOTT WEILAND has opened up about his final days as a member of su pergroup VELVET REVOLVER, insisting his bandmates were hooked on drugs wh en he was fired in 2008.
The singer was kicked out of the group following a series of public bus t-ups, but he insists his departure had nothing to do with the drug probl ems that have dogged his career.
Weiland admits he was trying to "kick dope" when he joined Slash and Du ff McKagan’s band - but he insists he cleaned up his act, unlike his band mates.
The rocker tells Spin magazine, "I kicked dope and other members relaps ed. Slash was using dope, we were making a second record, and his wife to ld him she would kick him out of the house if he didn’t get clean." Slash refused to comment about Weiland’s claims, but recently revealed "chemical issues" led to his bust-up with the rocker.
He said, "Velvet Revolver was intended to be a lot of fun and we starte d off having a great time, but I think that we all had a lot of chemical issues as that thing wore on.
"I definitely went way down the f**king drain for a minute there after the Contraband record came out and we went on tour for two years.
"I started drinking heavily and revisited my opiate passion, then had t o come out of it, so eventually I had to say, ‘That’s it!’ Certainly Scot t had his issues, even (bandmates) Duff (McKagan) and Matt (Sorum) went d own the same road. The only one that stayed sober during the whole thing was f**king Dave Kushner."

MINDY MCCREADY’s representative has fired back at reports the country sta r has suffered a suspected drug overdose, insisting the singer’s mother " overreacted" when she called for emergency services.
The star, who has a history of alcohol and drug abuse, was reportedly f ound passed out at her mother Gayle’s home in Fort Myers, Florida on Tues day morning (25May10).
Paramedics were called and McCready was transported to Cape Coral Hospi tal. Reports suggested she took a muscle relaxant and the painkiller Darv ocet.
But the singer’s spokesman, Brent Young, has played down the incident, revealing McCready simply experienced a bad reaction to the pain pills sh e had been prescribed after breaking her toe on Sunday (23May10).
Young claims McCready told her mother she was feeling unwell, sparking a panic and causing her mum to call for emergency help.
He tells TMZ.com, "She’s totally coherent. She can’t believe her mom di d this." McCready’s hospitalisation comes just days after she won a court judgem ent to reopen custody proceedings in the hope of being reunited with her four-year-old son Zander.
She lost custody of the boy in 2007 after she was jailed for violating probation by allegedly assaulting her mum in a fight over the singer’s dr inking and drug addictions.

HEIDI MONTAG has slammed reports she is severely depressed following her extensive cosmetic transformation - insisting her dramatic overhaul was t he "best decision of my life".
