INDIAN DIRECTOR JAILED OVER ON-SET DEATH

Indian moviemaker KAIZAD GUSTAD has been sentenced to a month in prison a fter his British assistant was killed in an accident on a movie set in Mu mbai.
Nadia Khan, 26, died after she was hit by a train during the filming of Gustad’s movie Bombay Central in 2004.
The accident occurred while the crew was shooting scenes at Mumbai’s Ma halaxmi station. Khan was reportedly speaking into a walkie-talkie and cu eing up actors when she was struck by the train.
Gustad was taken into police custody and initially charged with culpabl e homicide not amounting to murder. In 2009 the charge was downgraded to causing death by a rash and negligent act, and now, after a lengthy trial , he has been found guilty.
A judge in India sentenced Gustad to a month behind bars and a fine of $1,650 (=C2=A31,100), but he will not be sent to prison as he has already served 35 days in jail while on remand.
