OPRAH’S DISCOVERY LANDS GLEE ROLE
A young Filipino singer discovered by OPRAH WINFREY has landed her bigges t break - she has joined the cast of GLEE.
Teenager Charice will be a regular in the second season of the hit TV s how, according to the Phillippine Daily Inquirer.
The singer’s manager, Grace Mendoza, tells the publication, "Charice wi ll soon join Glee… and not just as a guest, but as part of the cast in a new season." The news marks a remarkable week for the 18 year old, who landed the nu mber eight slot on last week’s (ends21May10) Billboard charts in the U.S.
with sales of 42,985 for her self-titled debut.
She says, "This has been the most exciting week of my life." Charice became an international sensation when a fan posted a performan ce of the young star taking part in a talent contests in Southeast Asia o nline.
After Oprah took an interest, songwriter David Foster offered to produc e her debut album.
Glee won’t be the teen’s first screen appearance - she featured in Alvi n and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
