DOUGLAS HAILED FOR CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS
CATHERINE ZETA-JONES paid an emotional tribute to her husband MICHAEL DOU GLAS on Monday (24May10) when she praised him for his role as a father at an industry gala celebrating his acting career.
The Fatal Attraction star was the guest of honour at the Film Society o f Lincoln Center event in New York, where he was presented with the 2010 Chaplin Award by his father, acting icon Kirk Douglas.
But his Hollywood achievements weren’t the sole focus of the ceremony - Douglas’ friends and family also championed him for his personal attribu tes.
Actress Zeta-Jones told the audience, "The role that I’m so proud of, a nd there have been many… is the role of father.
"He has shown our children a love, a commitment… and he has love for them that is extraordinary." Pal Brooke Shields added, "I think it’s great that he’s being honoured for his work, but he’s a really amazing man. As a dad and as a husband, t hat’s the part that makes you fall in love with him." Douglas shares two children with Zeta-Jones, son Dylan, nine, and daugh ter Carys, seven, while 31-year-old Cameron is his only child from his fi rst marriage to Diandra Luker.
Cameron Douglas was recently convicted on drug charges and sentenced to five years behind bars.
