FERGUSON ‘DEVASTATED’ BY ACCESS-TO-ANDREW DEAL
Former British royal SARAH FERGUSON’s representative has authenticated a video recording in which the Duchess of York offers a U.K. tabloid access to her ex-husband PRINCE ANDREW for cash.
The News of the World posted footage from the video on its website over the weekend (22-23May10). In it, Ferguson appears to offer to ’sell’ acc ess to the Prince for $800,000 (=C2=A3500,000).
Newspaper editors reveal Ferguson spoke to an undercover reporter, who was posing as a broker.
Ferguson=E2=80=99s spokeswoman, Kate Waddington, has confirmed the meet ing took place and the Duchess is "devastated" after learning the set up was captured on video.
The former royal has issued a statement apologising for her actions, re vealing the "lapse" was part of a desperate attempt to make some money, She says, "I very deeply regret the situation and the embarrassment cau sed. It is true that my financial situation is under stress, however, tha t is no excuse for a serious lapse in judgment and I am very sorry that t his has happened. I am sincerely sorry for my actions," Ferguson and Prince Andrew ended their 10-year marriage in 1996. They h ave two children, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
