LOHAN’S LAWYER DOWNPLAYS PARTYING PHOTO
LINDSAY LOHAN’s lawyer has hit back reports suggesting an incriminating p hotograph of the actress partying in Cannes could land her in further tro uble when she faces a judge on Monday (24May10).
The Mean Girls star was due before Judge Marsha Revel at Beverly Hills Courthouse on Thursday morning (20May10) after only completing 10 of her 13 court-ordered alcohol education classes, stemming from a 2007 arrest.
The star insisted she couldn’t return to the U.S. as her passport had b een stolen during her stay in France for the Cannes Film Festival.
Judge Revel issued a warrant for her arrest upon her return, but Lohan posted $10,000 (=C2=A36,666) of her =C2=A3100,000 (=C2=A366,666) bail and the warrant was recalled. She is due back in front of the judge on Monda y (24May10).
But the star’s legal plight was dealt another blow on Friday (21May10) when TMZ.com posted a picture of the star partying in Cannes, sitting clo se to a table which appeared to have lines of cocaine on it.
However, Lohan’s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley insists the snap won’t pla y any part in the hearing - because the judge would never read celebrity websites.
Holley tells the site, "I do not believe that Judge Revel reads TMZ or any other ‘celebrity’ news and she would never be influenced by something which is NOT evidence in the case.
"It is difficult for Lindsay to get a fair shake because her every move is chronicled by TMZ and others. This creates an unavoidable frenzy arou nd her case and subjects her to a level of scrutiny which non-celebrities do not have to face."
