THE-DREAM DEFENDS AALIYAH COVER
R&B singer THE-DREAM has defended his decision to remake a song by the la te AALIYAH, insisting he recorded the track because he still "really miss es" the star.
The-Dream, real name Terius Youngdell Nash, released his version of the 1996 hit One In A Million on Tuesday (18May10) and was subsequently accu sed of disrespecting Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash in 2001.
But he’s adamant he had the best intentions when he covered the song.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "No one will e ver sing Aaliyah’s One In A Million like she did! Definitely not me. I di d that because I really miss her still and it was out of respect! "To her I’m still just a fan, not a writer, not an artist, a fan! Calm down, the world’s not over. But at least y’all will remember how dope (go od) she was and still is to this day!"
