KRAMER: ‘DEPRESSION NEARLY KILLED ME’

AEROSMITH star JOEY KRAMER is convinced he would have died if he hadn’t r eceived treatment for his depression.
The drummer, who battled addiction in the 1980s, admits the loss of his father in 1993 sent him into a downward spiral because he didn’t allow h imself time to grieve - heading back out on tour less than two weeks afte r the funeral.
Kramer admits the decision to carry on working at such a tragic time ha d serious repercussions on his health - and fears that if he hadn’t recei ved treatment for the condition he would have lost the will to live.
He says, "I didn’t really spend the time with any of my siblings or my mom, and I didn’t really go through the proper grieving process, because as soon as my dad died I went home, and we buried him, and 10 days later I was out on the road again. It took maybe two years for that to catch up with me.
"My depression and anxiety were so bad at the time that if I didn’t sta rt treatment, there’s a good chance I wouldn’t be standing in front of yo u today. It’s about the desire you have inside to get over whatever it is that’s going on." Kramer is now a spokesman for a charity in Beverly, Massachusetts, call ed Health & Education Services, Inc, which helps children and adults batt ling problems such as depression and substance abuse.

JONES PROUD OF ‘BIG GAY FOLLOWING’

VINNIE JONES is convinced he’s never been popular with the ladies - the H ollywood hardman boasts a "big gay following" instead.
The Brit failed to attract female fans at the start of his career playi ng professional soccer in England, insisting he was "too big and too ugly ".
But he was stunned upon realising he’d amassed an army of gay fans afte r portraying muscly mutant Juggernaut in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.
He explains, "I’ve got a big gay following. I was very popular in West Hollywood when I was shooting X-Men with all those leather straps. We had a producer who used to call me The Brute and I’d play up to it by grabbi ng him. I get gay fan mail too.
"It makes a change to the years when I was a midfielder for Wimbledon ( soccer team). Our groupies had builders’ bums."

SCHWARZENEGGER SKIS WITH STUDENTS

Actor-turned-politician ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER delighted 50 lucky students by turning up unannounced on a school ski trip - and taking to the slope s with them.
The California Governor visited a group of underprivileged kids involve d in his After-School All-Stars organisation during their trip to the Mam moth Mountain Ski Area in the state last weekend (25Apr10).
The kids, from low-income families, were treated to two days of skiing and snowboarding lessons at the resort - and were stunned when Schwarzene gger turned up to chat about the importance of after-school programs.
The Terminator star posed for photos with the kids, before skiing down the mountain with the youngsters.
He told the pupils, "There are many, many people that have been there t o help me along the way. Life is about everyone getting an equal chance a nd everyone helping each other. That’s why it is our responsibility to do everything that we can, so that you can have the same joy." Mammoth Mountain bosses, who donated the trip to the kids, also gave $2 5,000 (=C2=A317,000) to Schwarzenegger’s foundation by handing over $5 (=C2 =A33) for every lift ticket sold over the weekend.
Schwarzenegger helped found After-School All-Stars to give students a p lace to do homework and participate in sports to keep them from engaging in crime and drug use.

HILTON’S AWKWARD MEETING WITH REINHARDT=20

PARIS HILTON suffered an awkward encounter with her ex-boyfriend DOUG REI NHARDT on Tuesday night (27Apr10) - after they both arrived at the same L os Angeles nightclub.
The hotel heiress parted ways with the former The Hills star earlier th is month (Apr10), and recently admitted she is "over" the split.

An onlooker tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "Paris and Doug were on opposite sides of the dance floor. It was a contest as to who wa s having the best time. He was with another blonde girl and did his best to flaunt it. But Paris didn’t seem to care."

MORGAN RECEIVES SPEEDING FINE

British TV personality PIERS MORGAN has been ordered to pay a $999 (=C2=A3 666) fine after he was caught speeding last November (09).
The America’s Got Talent star was travelling back from judging a charit y talent contest at Roedean school in Brighton, England in a rented Jagua r XKR, when a speed camera snapped him travelling at 51 miles-per-hour (8 2 kilometres-per-hour) in a 30 miles-per-hour (48 kilometres-per-hour) zo ne.
Morgan did not appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (27Apr1 0), but he pleaded guilty to the offence by post.
The former tabloid journalist was ordered to pay the fine, as well as $ 87 (=C2=A358) in costs, and six points were added to his U.K. driving lic ence.
A police spokesperson says, "The offence was detected by a fixed speed camera, and the vehicle he was driving was doing 51mph in a 30mph zone, a bove our threshold for issuing a fixed penalty notice." Following the conviction, Morgan made light of the fine, saying in a st atement, "I was judging a charity show called Roedean’s Got Talent. DOWNEY, JR. FELT SAFE IN PRISON

ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. has opened up about his time in prison - insisting he always felt "safe" when he was behind bars.
The Iron Man star spent years struggling with a raging drug habit, and his addiction landed him a four-month jail term in 1997.
The actor went back to prison again in 1999 and served one year of a th ree-year sentence - he was freed after a judge ruled his collective time spent behind bars after various arrests qualified him for early release.
And in a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Downey, Jr. admits he was never scared of prison - because incarceration kept him safely awa y from drugs.
He tells the publication, "When the door clicks shut, then you are safe .. There is nothing aside from a rogue correctional officer that can do yo u harm if you have the right cellie (cellmate). You are actually in the s afest place on Earth. Safe from the intruders (drugs)."

LOHAN SMEARED WITH ‘BLOOD’ FOR RACY SHOOT

LINDSAY LOHAN is set to stun fans with the full extent of her controversi al "gun" photoshoot - the images also show her writhing in lingerie and s meared with fake blood.
The Mean Girls actress sparked criticism from some of her followers on Twitter.com on Wednesday (28Apr10) after posting a picture in which she p oses with a pistol pressed to her lips.
But the full shoot will cause an even bigger storm - the gory photos sh ow Lohan stripped to a bra, skirt, stockings and high heels while cavorti ng in a blood-soaked room.

DOWNEY, JR. CONFIRMS IRON MAN 3

ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. has confirmed IRON MAN will return for a third time - but the sequel will have to wait until after THE AVENGERS movie is comple ted.
The actor returns as entrepreneur-turned-superhero Tony Stark in Iron M an 2, opposite Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson.
Downey, Jr. will reprise the character for comic book collaboration The Avengers, which will see Iron Man team up with The Hulk, Thor and Captai n America on the big screen, but the star already has ideas for Iron Man 3.
He tells MTV news, "I think it’s (Iron Man 3) going to go down. (Althou gh The Avengers is) supposedly first on (Marvel Entertainment’s) docket. I have some pretty strong ideas, but they never seem to be too discordant with what the creative execs at Marvel are thinking anyway. It’s all the re (in the comic books). There’s a little bit of a bunch of different sto rylines from different decades."

HOLLYWOOD STUNTMAN ADAMS DIES

Veteran Hollywood stuntman and actor MICHAEL GENE ADAMS has died after su ffering a stroke. He was 60.
Adams, a former president of the Stuntmen’s Association of Motion Pictu res, died at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Newhall, California on 18 April (10).
He served as a stuntman or stunt co-ordinator on more than 80 films, in cluding City Slickers, Thunderheart, Wild Bill and Shaughnessy. He was al so stuntman for several U.S. TV shows, including soap opera Days of Our L ives, and acted in films including The Legend of the Lone Ranger and Pale Rider He is survived by his sister, Kris Stevens.

TV WRITER WILDER DIES

Emmy-nominated TV writer MYLES WILDER has died at the age of 77.
The son of director W. Lee Wilder and nephew of Oscar-winning writer/di rector Billy Wilder passed away in Temecula, California on 20 April (10) after a battle with digestive disease diverticulitis.
Wilder began his career by developing, writing and producing 1956 serie s The Adventures of Marco Polo, and went on to receive two Emmy nominatio ns for his work on 1960s show McHale’s Navy.
His other writing credits include U.S. TV classics The Dukes of Hazzard , Get Smart, The Brady Bunch, The Addams Family, Welcome Back, Kotter, an d Diff’rent Strokes.
Wilder retired in 1989.

BOMB FOUND OUTSIDE CLOONEY’S HOME

Bomb disposal experts have been called to the site of GEORGE CLOONEY’s ho liday home in Italy after World War II explosives were discovered just ya rds from the actor’s Lake Como villa.
A 500 pound (227 kilogram) bomb was found underwater close to Clooney’s multi-million dollar Villa Oleandra mansion, and police sealed off the s urrounding town of Laglio on Wednesday (28Apr10) to allow specialist team s to defuse the device.
The bomb, which is thought to have been dropped by a plane during the S econd World War, was discovered along with mines and other raw explosives , according to Britain’s Daily Telegraph.
The news comes just weeks after police launched an investigation into t he discovery of a woman’s body in the lake. The corpse was pulled from th e water close to Clooney’s property last month (Mar10).

DOVES TAKING TWO-YEAR HIATUS

British rockers DOVES have assured fans they’ll be back to record new mus ic in two years’ time.
The musicians were forced to deny reports of a split earlier this month (Apr10) after guitarist Jez Williams announced their upcoming U.K. tour would "probably" be their last.
The group has now promised to return after a planned two-year hiatus, w hich they decided to take after growing tired of their repetitive schedul e.

30 SECONDS TO MARS’ summer tour began with some bad luck on Tuesday (27Ap r10) - after drummer SHANNON LETO’s bicycle was stolen.
The group’s frontman Jared Leto was photographed enjoying a bike ride w ith his sibling bandmate around the Fillmore venue in Miami Beach, Florid a - just hours before they were due on stage to kick off their latest tre k.
But Jared was infuriated after his brother’s bike was snatched from the auditorium - and took to his page on Twitter.com to rant about the theft ..
In a post on the site, the rocker wrote, "I hope whoever stole Shannon’ s bike last night in Miami rots in f**ing hell. P.S. If you find the b**t ard you know what to do".

MCFADDEN FACING TALENT SHOW CRITICISM

Former WESTLIFE singer BRIAN MCFADDEN is facing a storm of criticism Down Under after he allegedly swore at a contestant during an episode of AUST RALIA’S GOT TALENT.
The star heads up the judging panel of the contest, a spin-off from U.S .. series America’s Got Talent.
But he became embroiled in an ugly spat with a wannabe, which was cut f rom a show broadcast Down Under on Tuesday (27Apr10).
McFadden criticised 50-year-old Anne Ferguson-Howe after she performed a comedy routine for the judges - and when she protested about his remark s, the star allegedly hit back with an expletive.
Ferguson-Howe tells Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper, "Brian said, ‘Get off, get off’ in a really nasty tone. I then said to Brian, ‘Listen pal, if you’re going to dish it out, you’ve got to learn to take it back.’ "Brian pulled his mic off, climbed on stage and very cleverly, without anyone hearing, said, ‘Why don’t you just f**k off back to England?’ I’d whack him. I’m a thick-skinned woman of 50 who loves a laugh but if it ha d been a 20-year-old girl the size I am with low self-esteem, I think I w ould have gone home and shot myself. It was horrific. If I saw him (McFad den) again, I’d whack him. I’d spit on him. I’m spewing that they’ve edit ed it in their favour." A spokesperson for TV network Channel 7 has confirmed the exchange was cut from the show: "All contestants who take part in the auditions know w hat to expect. Usually everyone joins in the spirit of the day and has a lot of fun. In this case the exchange was unacceptable and didn’t fit wit h the vibe of the show, so was deleted."

WYCLEF DEMANDS BETTER EDUCATION IN HAITI

WYCLEF JEAN has called for better education in his native Haiti to help r ebuild the nation following the devastating earthquake in January (10).
The former Fugees star insists the massive tremor "gives Haiti a new sl ate" and that government officials must now concentrate on improving lite racy to better the population. Approximately 50 per cent of the nine mill ion people in the poverty-stricken country are illiterate.
Jean tells the Associated Press, "If we’re going to get to the 21st cen tury, I don’t know how we’re going to do that with a population who can’t read or write.
"We have to think strategic on how we deal with the situation on a leve l beyond emotions." Jean has been instrumental in leading the relief efforts in his homelan d, and his Yele Haiti Foundation is currently working to build temporary shelters for survivors.

PRISON GUARD SACKED FOR ‘SPYING ON LIL WAYNE’

A former guard at New York’s Rikers Island jail is threatening to sue pri son bosses after she was fired for allegedly spying on the facility’s mos t famous inmate - LIL WAYNE.
Amelia Negron was dismissed from her position at the institution last m onth (10) after she was accused of wandering into the unit where the star is being held, without proper authorisation.
Negron admits she did go into the unit, but denies she was there to see the rapper - who is serving a year-long sentence on gun possession charg es - insisting she wanted to speak to a colleague.
The 33 year old is adamant the charges against her aren’t true - and sh e’s consulting lawyers over plans to file suit against her former bosses at the prison.
She tells the New York Daily News, "I don’t even like rap. I like rock and alternative music and didn’t know much about him when they said I tri ed to see him. None of it’s true.
"The door to the area was unlocked, and so I went in to say hello, and that officer said, ‘Hey, you can’t be here. We’ve got a celeb here.’ I sa id, ‘Okay, no problem,’ turned around and left.
"(I) did nothing wrong, but (I was) threatened with criminal charges, t ransfers, suspensions." A spokesman for the Correction Department claims Negron’s dismissal was "entirely appropriate".

JOHN PAYS TRIBUTE TO AIDS VICTIM

SIR ELTON JOHN returned to Indiana on Wednesday (28Apr10) to perform at a charity concert celebrating the life of the AIDS-stricken teen who inspi red him to quit drugs.
The Rocket Man was the headline act at the benefit fundraiser held in m emory of Ryan White, the 18 year old who he credits with changing his lif e.
White contracted the disease from a contaminated blood transfusion and John held a bedside vigil for him in the last week of his life, before sw earing off drugs following the youngster’s death in 1990.
And the superstar insists he was honoured to return to Indiana, where h e celebrated his 20th year of sobriety with the tribute gig at Butler Uni versity.
John tells the Associated Press, "It was one of the greatest things in my life to meet Ryan’s family, to be there the last week to try and help, and then for that wonderful message that he gave me to change my life ar ound. It was weird to take stock and think of it - I’m 20 years sober thi s year, and it’s 20 years since Ryan died, because I got sober shortly af terward." And White’s mother Jeanne White-Ginder will always be grateful to the s inger for befriending her son.
She says, "I’ve always felt like he was my guardian angel. One of the m ost beautiful scenes I think I can remember (from 1990) is walking into R yan’s room and seeing Elton standing on a chair decorating Ryan’s room. H e said, ‘When he wakes up, I want him to know how much he was loved.’ Tha t really touched me as a mom because I hadn’t thought to do that." Profits from the concert benefited the Indianapolis Children’s Museum a nd John’s AIDS foundation.
