GARNER’S STAR-STUDDED BIRTHDAY BASH

JENNIFER GARNER celebrated her 38th birthday in style on Saturday (17Apr1 0) - by hosting a star-studded bash with guests including REESE WITHERSPO ON and TOBEY MAGUIRE.
The actress started the celebrations on Friday (16Apr10), spending the afternoon enjoying a pedicure at a Los Angeles salon with her four-year-o ld daughter, Violet.
Garner then invited her celebrity friends to the home she shares with h usband Ben Affleck to mark the occasion on Saturday.
Witherspoon was joined by her new boyfriend, Hollywood agent Jim Toth, as well as stars including Maguire, Jason Bateman, Molly Sims and Jimmy K immel to toast the actress’ birthday.

RONNIE WOOD’s ex-wife JO WOOD can soon add clothing designer to her resum e - she’s reportedly launching her own fashion line.
The former model, who was married to the Rolling Stones rocker for 23 y ears, has already released her own organic skincare range, and now Wood i s joining forces with British Fashion Council boss Harold Tillman and L.A .. designer Christopher Wicks to create her fashions, reports Britain’s Da ily Mail.
A source tells the publication, "Jo has had secret meetings with Harold about the range, and when she was in L.A. with Christopher recently, he told her how to crack the market."

JEAN LENDS JOLIE HAIRCARE TIPS

ANGELINA JOLIE has taken heed of hair care tips from rapper WYCLEF JEAN t o help tame and style her Ethiopian daughter’s hair.
The Hollywood beauty adopted Zahara in 2005, when she was just six mont hs old, and the actress and her partner Brad Pitt have let the tot’s curl y locks go untreated for years.
But it took a few wise words from Jean during a recent Haiti mercy miss ion to show the mum-of-six how to properly care for now-five-year-old Zah ara’s hair.
The former Fugees star tells UsMagazine.com, "I remember my last conver sation with her (Jolie) was probably about the baby’s hair and how it was rough. Now they use (hair care product) Carol’s Daughter for her." (MT/W

WILDER HINTS AT DEPECHE MODE REUNION

Former DEPECHE MODE keyboardist ALAN WILDER is eyeing a full time reunion with the group after the success of a one-off show earlier this year (10 ).
The musician performed with the band at the Teenage Cancer Trust charit y show at London’s Royal Albert Hall in February (10) - 14 years after qu itting the group.
And Wilder has received so many compliments since rejoining the trio at the gig, he’s hinted he be playing more music with the electronic act.
He says, "It was nice to see the lads again. I’ve had a lot of good fee dback. It was a really good day. It felt really important for me. Going b ack on stage was like I’d never been away. It was all there as I remember ed it, the whole circus. I wouldn’t rule it out happening again in the fu ture." Wilder went on to form musical project Recoil after leaving Depeche Mod e in 1995.

POWDERFINGER’S FINAL EUROPEAN TOUR FACES AXE

POWDERFINGER’s last ever European tour is facing cancellation as a result of the volcanic eruption in Iceland - the Australian rockers fear they w on’t be able to fly to the continent to begin the trek on Wednesday (21Ap r10).
The band announced earlier this month (Apr10) they are set to part ways , revealing the Sunsets tour in their native country later this year (10) will be their last.
The group was due to fly to Ireland on Sunday (18Apr10) to start their shows in Dublin later this week (21Apr10) - but they have so far been una ble to get on a plane as most flights to northern Europe have been ground ed.
But Powderfinger’s manager, Paul Piticco, is hoping the band will be ab le to fly to Europe soon in order to perform the scheduled dates.
He says, "We’re waiting like everyone else to see when we can get on a flight. At this point we’re still holding out hope that if it clears mira culously we will make the London shows and reschedule Dublin. We are re-e valuating the situation constantly and urge people to keep an eye on our website."

LADY ANTEBELLUM WIN BIG AT ACM AWARDS

LADY ANTEBELLUM were triple winners at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday (18Apr10).
The Tennessee trio was awarded Song of the Year and Single of the Year honours for Need You Now and the group was also named Best Vocal Group.
Speaking after their second win of the night, band member Charles Kelle y said, "We’re living our dream right now. We’ve waited our whole lives f or this." Meanwhile, Miranda Lambert, who opened the show with Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, John Fogerty and Charlie Daniels, received two awards - Vid eo of the Year for White Liar and Album of the Year for Revolution. Brad Paisley picked up the Best Male Vocalist prize.
Other big winners included Carrie Underwood, who was awarded the covete d Entertainer of the Year title - the first female to have received the h onour twice.
Newcomer Luke Bryan walked away with two awards - for Top New Artist an d Top New Solo Vocalist.
Taylor Swift had been nominated for five Academy of Country Music Award s, but she failed to win any prizes during the Las Vegas ceremony.
Show host Reba McEntire proved to be a big hit with her comedy routine, poking fun at the recent spate of celebrity cheaters.
She opened the ceremony by joking, "We’ve had a great year in country m usic. Lots of songs about Cowboy Casenovas, White Liars and Two-Timing Me n - and I’d like to thank Tiger Woods and Jesse James for inspiring us al l." Highlights of the show included performances by Brad Paisley, who ended his set by handing his guitar to fans and falling into a pool of water, and Taylor Swift and Toby Keith’s touching tribute to late basketball sta r and jazz great Wayman Tisdale, who lost his battle with cancer last May (09). Tisdale was Keith’s guest at last year’s ACMs.
The ceremony also marked the beginning of the end of Brooks & Dunn’s il lustrious career - the duo made its last appearance at the event. Brooks & Dunn will split later this year (10).

He confessed, "After the show last year, my lady and I, Camila, we even went back to the hotel and conceived a little lady who is now our daught er, Vida Alves McConaughey." And, as his partner giggled and hung her head in the audience, the acto r continued, "I’m having a good time again, but I promise you me and Cami la are gonna try not to to get so lucky this year - two’s (kids) enough."

BARRYMORE PRAISES MARTIN FOR ‘COMING OUT’

DREW BARRYMORE has praised gay singer RICKY MARTIN for opening up about h is sexuality - insisting his admission will help other celebrities ‘come out’.
The Livin’ La Vida Loca hitmaker ended years of speculation about his l ove life last month (Mar10) by revealing he’s a "proud homosexual".
And the Charlie’s Angels actress has applauded Martin for his honesty, as she believes his story will help other gay stars feel accepted.
She tells Access Hollywood, "My lofty goal in this world is that we can live in a world that doesn=E2=80=99t judge each other, I just want peopl e to be able to live their lives that are true to them. I celebrate what (Ricky) is doing because we have to create a world for each other where a cceptance is first and foremost.=E2=80=9D And Barrymore is not the only celebrity to back Martin - openly gay sin ger Adam Lambert has also voiced his support for the Latino star.

GLEE AMONG WINNERS AT TV LAND AWARDS

GLEE has landed yet another accolade - the hit U.S. TV show was among the big winners at the TV Land Awards on Saturday (17Apr10).
The musical was named Outstanding Comedy Series at the GLAAD Media Awar ds over the weekend (17Apr10) - and on the same night, the series won the Future Classic Award at the TV Land ceremony.
Glee actress Jane Lynch stepped on stage to pick up the trophy, and she also presented the Icon Award to singer Debbie Harry for Blondie’s contr ibution to music and popular culture.
Tom Hanks reunited with his Bosom Buddies co-stars to accept the specia l Anniversary Award prize, celebrating 30 years since the sitcom’s TV deb ut.
The cast of Everybody Loves Raymond also reunited on the night to pick up the Impact Award for their contribution to TV history, while filmmaker Mel Brooks was handed the Legend Award for his work on films including G et Smart and The Producers.
Former Charlie’s Angels actresses Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith attended the event on behalf of late friend and co-star Farrah Fawcett, who was h onoured with a special tribute at the gala in California.

LAURIE’S MARRIAGE STRAINED BY HOLLYWOOD CAREER

HUGH LAURIE’s successful Hollywood career is putting a strain on his marr iage - the British actor fears his role in hit U.S. show HOUSE is causing a rift with his wife.
Laurie spends a substantial amount of time in Los Angeles filming the m edical drama, while his wife of 23 years, Jo, stays at their family home in London.
And the actor, who has starred in the series since 2004, admits they ar e struggling to maintain a happy transatlantic relationship.
He says, "I wouldn’t say doing the series has made marriage easier. Doi ng weekly TV is like joining the Navy and going to the other side of the world for 10 months of the year.
"But the truth is that whatever challenging situation you’re in, somebo dy somewhere has got a much more extreme version. So I think one ought to shut up and not moan about it."

FILM EDITOR ALLEN DIES

Pioneering film editor DEDE ALLEN, who worked on movies including BONNIE AND CLYDE, has died. She was 86.
Dede, real name Dorothea Corothers Allen, passed away on Saturday (17Ap r10) after suffering a stroke, according to her son, Tom Fleischman.
Allen became the first movie editor to receive a sole credit on a film and worked on 20 major movies throughout her career, including 1985’s The Breakfast Club and 1991’s The Addams Family.
In 1992, Allen was appointed head of post-production at Warner Bros. an d in 1994 she was honoured by the American Cinema Editors with a career a ward.
Allen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Stephen E. Fleischman, as well as her son, a daughter, five grandchildren and two great-grandchild ren.

ANISTON SIGNS UP TO DIRECT FIRST FEATURE FILM

JENNIFER ANISTON has announced plans to make her feature film directorial debut.
The former Friends star is hoping for a career "rebirth" in Hollywood, inspired by Drew Barrymore’s directorial efforts - and she is already wor king on a top secret movie.
She says, "I have a project in development I’m going to direct. After y ou get enough movies under your belt you sit back and go, ‘What’s next?’ It’s getting to a time where creatively I want to turn in a different dir ection." The project won’t be Aniston’s first shot at moviemaking - she co-direc ted 2006 short film Room 10, which starred Robin Wright and Kris Kristoff erson.

RIHANNA BACKING CANCER CHARITY’S $250,000 PRIZE BID

RIHANNA is urging fans to help her favourite charity win a $250,000 (=C2=A3 156,250) grant.
The Umbrella hitmaker is a long time supporter of cancer organisation D KMS Americas and she wants to win them a cash prize.
The charity is just one of many competing for a grant from the Pepsi Re fresh Everything initiative - and Rihanna is determined to win the money on behalf of the organisation.
A post on the charity’s site reads, "Rihanna is deeply involved with DK MS, partnering with them through her own foundation, the Believe Foundati on.
"The DKMS mission is to save lives by recruiting bone marrow donors for leukaemia patients. DKMS is the largest bone marrow donor center in the world with over two million registered donors.
"Rihanna and DKMS are now teaming up on a registration drive that will recruit nearly 4,000 new bone marrow donors."

MADONNA: ‘MY GLEE EPISODE IS GENIUS’

MADONNA has given her seal of approval to her GLEE tribute episode - bran ding the one-off show "fantastic" and "genius".
The pop superstar’s back catalogue will provide the soundtrack for an u pcoming installment of the TV musical, which will air in America next wee k (beg19Apr10).
Madonna and her family were treated to a preview of the episode - and s he’s thrilled with it.
She tells Usmagazine.com, "I thought the Madonna episode of Glee was br illiant on every level. The dialogue and the entire script was genius. I completely appreciated the layers of irony, especially when all those mac ho boys sang What It Feels Like For A Girl.
"I also loved the fantastic performances of Vogue, Express Yourself and all the messages about the boys being respectful to girls.
"The entire cast was amazing. They’re all so talented. I especially lov ed Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) and Kurt Hummel’s (Chris Colfer) characters .. (Show creator) Ryan Murphy did a great job bringing all these elements together." And the singer reveals her teenage daughter Lourdes is a big fan of Gle e: "Lola loved the show too. I wish I went to a high school like that… If only."

ROTH & GELDOF GO PUBLIC AT COACHELLA

Actor/director ELI ROTH went public with his romance with British sociali te PEACHES GELDOF this weekend (16-18Apr10) by openly kissing at Californ ia’s Coachella Music & Arts Festival.
The Inglorious Basterds star was first linked to the 20-year-old daught er of rocker Bob Geldof in March (10) when they were photographed holding hands at an Academy Awards afterparty.

MOMSEN: ‘MEESTER’S POP RECORD IS AWESOME’

Rocker/actress TAYLOR MOMSEN has dismissed rumours of a rift with her GOS SIP GIRL co-star and fellow singer LEIGHTON MEESTER, insisting their musi c careers are completely "different".
The 16 year old fronts her own alternative rock band, The Pretty Reckle ss, while Meester has been working with pop songwriters and producers J.R .. Rotem, Kara Dioguardi and RedOne for her upcoming debut album.
Momsen claims any comparisons of their work off-screen are unwarranted, but insists she is fully supportive of her TV colleague’s music venture.
She tells Entertainment Weekly, "We’re doing a different thing; she’s p utting out a pop record, which is awesome." However, Momsen admits she isn’t that close to the rest of the Gossip G irl cast: "We’re all cordial and nice to each other, but we’re not really friends outside of the set."

CYRUS & HEMSWORTH ‘TO LIVE TOGETHER’

MILEY CYRUS is reportedly planning to set up home with her boyfriend LIAM HEMSWORTH when she moves into her first property in November (10).
The Hannah Montana star fell for the Australian actor after meeting on the set of their new film The Last Song last year (09).
They’ve since become inseparable and Cyrus is said to want her beau to move into her multi-million dollar Toluca Lake mansion in Los Angeles whe n she turns 18 later this year (10).

A source tells the publication, "Miley fell in love with this property instantly. She’s been in seventh heaven since they (parents) caved in and agreed to let her get her own place. MONTEITH DODGES QUESTION ABOUT SWIFT ROMANCE

GLEE star CORY MONTEITH is remaining coy over rumours of a romance with c ountry superstar TAYLOR SWIFT, dodging the speculation by insisting she i s "a great friend".
The stars sparked reports they were dating earlier this year (10) when they were spotted together at a Grammy Awards afterparty.
Speculation mounted last month (Mar10) when Swift was snapped embracing the Canadian actor during a night of bowling in Los Angeles, and Monteit h is refusing to confirm or deny they are a couple.
Speaking to CMT Radio Live’s Cody Alan, he says, "(She’s) a great frien d of mine. She’s pretty fantastic." However, Monteith does admit to losing at bowling to the Love Story hit maker, who he admits "kicked (his) a**".
He adds: "I’m not gonna deny this (losing). I was just an unco-ordinate d mess that day and I couldn’t put the ball into the pins. I couldn’t do it. It was bad.
"She just brought the A-game. And I brought the B-game."
