COREY HAIM’S MUM MOVES CLOSER TO STAR’S GRAVE

COREY HAIM’s grieving mother has moved from California to Canada - to be closer to the tragic actor’s final resting place.
Judy Haim has left her home in Los Angeles, where the former child star suffered an apparent drugs overdose in March (10), to take up residence in Toronto, the city where her son was born and raised, and where he was eventually laid to rest.
She now lives a 30-minute drive from Haim’s burial site, reports TMZ.co m.
Judy decided to move back to Canada so she can make regular visits to h er son’s grave.
Earlier this month (Apr10), Judy called off a public memorial for her s on because she was too upset to host the service.

SWEETIN’S DIVORCE FINALISED

Actress JODIE SWEETIN has been ordered to hand over child support payment s to her ex-husband after finalising their divorce in court, according to reports.
The former child star filed for legal separation from Cody Herpin in No vember 2008 - seven months after she gave birth to the couple’s first chi ld, daughter Zoie.
The former couple attended a hearing at Orange County Superior Court in California on Tuesday (20Apr10), when their split was made official and they were granted joint custody of Zoie.
The judge also ordered Sweetin to pay Herpin approximately $600 (=C2=A3 400) a month in child support, reports TMZ.com.
Herpin launched a bitter custody battle with the star in December 2008, seeking sole custody of Zoie and accusing Sweetin of driving intoxicated with their baby in the car.
The Full House star has previously admitted battling drug and alcohol a ddiction.

REID’S REP CONFIRMS WEDDING IS OFF

A representative for TARA REID has confirmed the actress has called off h er engagement - just a month before she was due to wed her businessman bo yfriend MICHAEL AXTMANN.
The actress sparked speculation about her wedding plans earlier this we ek (begs19Apr10) after she changed her relationship status on Facebook.co m from ‘Engaged’ to ‘Single’ - and now she admits she won’t be walking do wn the aisle.
In a statement to People.com, her spokesperson says, "Tara Reid has con firmed that she will not be moving forward with her May 22 nuptials." Reid became engaged in January (10) after internet entrepreneur Michael Axtmann proposed during dinner in Los Angeles.

SECRET SERVICE INVESTIGATES PENN ROBBERY

Officials at the U.S. Secret Service have reportedly begun an investigati on after actor-turned-White House aide KAL PENN was robbed at gunpoint in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday (20Apr10).
The star, who serves as President Barack Obama’s Associate Director in the Office of Public Engagement, was left shaken after he was forced to l ie on the ground and hand over personal belongings, including two cell ph ones.
One of the devices is said to have been government-issued, and as a res ult, Secret Service agents have joined the D.C. Metro Police Department t o find the offender.
Penn alerted White House authorities after the incident and had the pho ne’s service ended. TMZ.com reports that "no information was compromised because no official numbers were in the phone".

DOWNEY JR. TO PLAY WIZARD OF OZ?

ROBERT DOWNEY JR. is reportedly set to team up with director SAM MENDES t o bring the WIZARD OF OZ back to life.
The original 1939 movie, starring Judy Garland, became a cinematic clas sic, while another film based on L. Frank Baum’s books, Return To Oz, was released by Disney in 1985.
Now movie-makers are preparing to return to the Emerald City on the big screen in a new picture about the wonderful wizard, titled Oz The Great and Powerful.
The film will be a prequel to the Garland movie, based on Baum’s work, and will tell the story of a young circus magician who ends up ruler of t he magical country after crash-landing there in a hot air balloon.
Mendes, whose work on the next Bond film was put on hold indefinitely, is now in talks to direct the picture, while Downey Jr. has been lined up to play the wizard, according to Production Weekly.
The picture is one of a number of different Oz adaptations in the works , including a big screen version of hit stage musical Wicked, and Oz, whi ch sees Dorothy’s granddaughter sent to the Emerald City to "fight evil", according to the Los Angeles Times.

CAMERON DOUGLAS APOLOGISED TO FAMILY IN COURT

MICHAEL DOUGLAS’ actor son CAMERON apologised to his family as he was sen tenced to five years in prison on drug charges on Tuesday (20Apr10).
The 31 year old faced a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years behind b ars after he pleaded guilty to one count of methamphetamine possession wi th intent to distribute a controlled substance, and one count of possessi on of cocaine in January (10).
And speaking in court, he admitted he was sober for the first time in h is adult life, reports People.com.
He told U.S. District Judge Richard Berman, "Firstly, I would like to a pologise to my family and my loved ones for putting them through this nig htmare of my making - and for my behaviours that have caused a rift betwe en us in the past.
"But I would like to ask you for an opportunity to be a productive fami ly member and a good role model to my brothers and sisters…
"Nothing, Your Honour, is more important to me than my family and the g oals that I have set for myself, and I feel adamant that I will not let m yself be led astray by my warped thinking and false pretences due to my l ong heroin addiction.
"I believe, Your Honour, that things will be different this time becaus e… I feel that I have the full support of my family and the people that are important in my life… If I should be so fortunate to have another chance, I would never squander that opportunity because I know how fruitf ul my life can be." The It Runs In The Family star was arrested in August (09) following a drugs raid on his room at a New York City hotel.
He was reportedly plotting to move approximately $18,000 (=C2=A312,000) -worth of crystal meth from California to New York to sell when an underc over informant alerted the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
He has been detained at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New Yor k for the past eight months.

TWO MORE WOMEN ACCUSE SEAGAL OF SEXUAL ABUSE

Two more women have accused STEVEN SEAGAL of making unwanted sexual advan ces while they worked as his assistant.
The unnamed women have submitted sworn declarations to help ex-model Ka yden Nguyen, who is suing the Under Siege tough guy for $1 million (=C2=A3 666,000), claiming he used her "like a sex toy" and expected her to pleas ure him sexually after landing a job as his executive assistant.
In one of the declarations, obtained by TMZ.com, one woman claims Seaga l groped her breasts, telling her he was "checking just as a doctor would for lumps." The document adds, "Seagal reached his hand down my pants. He said, ‘I just wanted to touch it for a second to see what it felt like.’" Both women allege they quit working for Seagal after he made inappropri ate sexual advances.
But Seagal’s lawyer Marty Singer has dismissed the claims as "absurd", insisting the actor has never even met the two women.
He says, "My client has no knowledge of these women and a preliminary c heck of his employment records does not show that they ever worked for hi m.
"The declarations were clearly prepared by Nguyen’s lawyer to be leaked to the media to help bolster his client’s meritless claims." Seagal’s reality show, Steven Seagal Lawman has been put on hold follow ing the allegations.

KYLIE MINOGUE’s fans are so eager to hear a preview of her new single, th ey’ve crashed her official website in a race to listen to a 30-second cli p of the song.
The Spinning Around hitmaker excited devotees by announcing she would h ave "extra special" news to share on her website on Tuesday (20Apr10).
Minogue posted a video clip of her upcoming track All The Lovers online , but the site crashed after thousands of eager fans tried to log on at t he same time.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, the singer writes, "Aaahhhhhhhh … you’ve overloaded the system!!! arrgggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!… That is the str ength of your combined power!!!!!!! OMG (Oh my God)!!!" But the site was soon up and running again, giving fans a special previ ew of the song, which is due for release on 28 June (10), prior to the la unch of her new album, Aphrodite, on 5 July (10).
After Minogue’s website was fixed, she wrote, "I am so happy to share t his little snippet of the first single with you all."

JONAS BROTHERS TO GO BACK ON TOUR

THE JONAS BROTHERS have laid rumours of an imminent split to rest with pl ans for a tour this summer (10).

SWEDISH ROCK FESTIVAL CANCELLED IN VOLCANO CHAOS

Swedish rock festival Stockholm Rock Out has been cancelled as a result o f the volcanic eruption in Iceland last week (14Apr10).
The music event was due to run this weekend (30Apr-01May10) at Gamla Tr yckeriet in Alvik, Sweden, but organisers have been forced to postpone th e festival as the eruption continues to cause air traffic chaos across Eu rope.
Organiser Chris LeMon has released a statement, which reads, "Due to th e volcano and flight situation over Europe, today we have together with o ur artists decided to postpone the two-day Stockholm Rock Out to Septembe r 10 and September 11.
"We are truly sorry for this but this is out of our control. We can’t w ait till the day before the show and then find out that some of the bands and visitors can’t make it here. Already confirmed for September 10-11 a re Great White, Keel and Pretty Boy Floyd and more will come soon." LeMon is planning to host a free one-day gig on 01 May (10) for ticket holders to make up for the scrapped performances.
He adds, "For all of you that have bought a ticket, whether it’s a one- day or two-day ticket, these are valid for the September show and you are also welcome to the show on May 1st for FREE if you bring your ticket…
So once again, our apologies for this situation, but please support us a nd come and Rock Out with us on May 1 and September 10-11." The volcano has caused air traffic chaos for more than six million pass engers as more than 63,000 flights have been grounded due to the thick cl ouds of ash in the skies across Europe.

HASSELHOFF TO REPRISE BREAKTHROUGH SOAP ROLE

DAVID HASSELHOFF is to reprise his role on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS - 1 8 years after leaving the hit U.S. soap which kickstarted his showbiz car eer.
The former Baywatch star was given his first recurring acting role as D r William ‘Snapper’ Foster Jr. on the series in 1976, and he stayed on th e show for six years.
Hasselhoff quit the soap opera in 1982 - the same year he went on to fi nd international fame in TV hit Knight Rider.
Now the actor is returning to his soap roots, resurrecting his characte r for a cameo appearance to "say thanks" to the show’s creator for giving him his big break.
He says, "In 1976, Bill Bell, creator of America’s number one soap oper a, took a chance on a young and very green actor. Playing Snapper in 850 shows during the six years I appeared moulded my craft, my attitude and m y work ethic.
"Being asked to come back to appear in several episodes gives me a chan ce to say thanks, as I have an amazing amount of respect and heartfelt em otion for Bill, his family and my time on Young and the Restless. I just hope I can remember all those lines."

SHEPHERD’S SON OFFERED CHANCE TO AVOID CRIMINAL RECORD

CYBILL SHEPHERD’s son has been offered the chance to keep criminal charge s off his record following his arrest for theft - but he must prove his g ood character to the court.
Cyrus Zacharia Shepherd-Oppenheim was on-board a United Airlines plane from San Francisco, California in January (10) when he allegedly rifled t hrough fellow passengers’ hand luggage while they were sleeping.
Travellers spotted the 22-year-old student acting suspiciously and aler ted airline staff - he was arrested upon arrival at Philadelphia Internat ional Airport in Pennsylvania and later charged with the theft of cash, a camera and other items from carry-on baggage.
But on Tuesday (20Apr10) a judge at Philadelphia Municipal Court gave h im the opportunity to join a pretrial diversion program, which offers fir st-time offenders a chance to avoid prosecution.
If Shepherd-Oppenheim abides by the conditions of the program, he will not be convicted.
Another hearing has been set for 4 June (10).

STEEL’S FORMER AIDE JAILED

DANIELLE STEEL’s former personal assistant has been sentenced to nearly t hree years in prison after swindling nearly $1 million (=C2=A3666,667) fr om the author.
The bestselling novelist, whose books have sold 550 million copies worl dwide, was left out of pocket after her former aide Kristy Watts embezzle d $768,000 (=C2=A3512,000) from her.
In September (09), Watts, who worked for Steel from 1993 to 2008, plead ed guilty to charges of fraud and tax evasion after cashing cheques in St eel’s name and using the writer’s credit cards.
On Tuesday (20Apr10) she was handed a sentence of two years and nine mo nths in jail by U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker.
Watts has already paid $969,752 (=C2=A3646,501) back to Steel, who file d a civil lawsuit against her last year (09), and she was ordered to reim burse the government more than $60,000 (=C2=A340,000) in taxes. Watts mus t also carry out 400 hours of community service as part of her sentence, reports the San Fransisco Chronicle.
