RIHANNA’s representative has played down reports the singer was hospitali sed in Switzerland on Monday (19Apr10), insisting the UMBRELLA star was o nly admitted for a check-up on an injured rib.
The R&B beauty was taken to the private Hirslanden clinic in Zurich aft er completing a show nearby to receive treatment.
News of the visit went public on Tuesday (22Apr10), after Alenka Ambroz told, the head of the clinic’s corporate communications, told the local m edia, "The singer Rihanna came yesterday evening to the emergency room. W e do not know the details." Rihanna was discharged from hospital in the early hours of Tuesday and headed to Lyon, France for the next concert on her Last Girl on Earth tou r.
Her spokesperson has confirmed the star’s brief hospital stay but has a ssured fans Rihanna is OK.
The singer’s rep tells People.com, "(She) had an injured rib and went t o have it looked at to be sure it was nothing serious, and it wasn’t. All is OK and the tour is going great." Rihanna was back on stage in Lyon on Tuesday and will perform in Marsei lle, France on Wednesday night (21Apr10).

JUSTIN BIEBER has held off a charging MGMT from the top spot on the U.S. album charts.
The teenage pop star has scored a second successive week at number one on the Billboard 200 with My World 2.0, with MGMT debuting high at two wi th Congratulations.

Rapper/producer PHARRELL WILLIAMS has created an entertainment website fo r teens to encourage young fans to read the news.
The hip-hop star, who has produced hits for Madonna, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, is using his celebrity contacts to generate content o n Kidult.com.
The online venture features reporting on politics, technology, health, fashion, science, business, environmental issues, sports, gaming and ente rtainment targeted at young adults.
The site’s staff also includes a team of young writers who will conduct interviews with celebrities and "cool job" professionals, such as singer Justin Bieber, Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am and actress Miranda Cosgro ve.
Williams says: "Kidult is a reliable news source that speaks directly t o teenagers. It also gives them a chance to get involved and speak to oth er young people about issues they care about. Kidult is the site I wish I had when I was in high school."

Danielle Rueda-Watts was one of the 12 dancers Jackson handpicked for h is ill-fated This Is It dates in London, and now she wants to be a part o f the planned Jacko-themed Cirque du Soleil show, which was announced at the beginning of the week (beg19Apr10).

Two heavy rock fans have settled their lawsuit with the organisers of 200 7’s Ozzfest show in Devore, California.
Stephen Holloway and Michael McClelland were injured at the rock concer t and claimed promoters and security were negligent for not providing the event with adequate security.
The two men filed their negligence and liability suit in early 2008 in Los Angeles, naming security firm Contemporary Services Corp., promoters Live Nation Worldwide Inc., and the owners of Glen Helen Pavilion, where the 2007 Ozzfest took place, as defendants.
Details of the settlement have not been disclosed.

BILLY JOEL has ended a legal battle with his former drummer after settlin g a royalties dispute out of court.
The Piano Man singer worked with Liberty DeVitto in the studio and on t our for three decades until they parted ways in 2005. DeVitto performed o n some of the rocker’s biggest albums, including The Stranger, 52nd Stree t and Storm Front.
The drummer filed suit against Joel and his label bosses at Sony Music in May, 2009, accusing them of failing to pay him unspecified royalties f rom 11 albums recorded between 1975 and 1990, which have collectively sol d more than 100 million copies worldwide.
The case at New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan came to a close t his week (begs19Apr10) after the two parties reached an agreement behind closed doors.
Joel’s legal representative Paul LiCalsi says, "The case has been amica bly resolved." LiCalsi declined to go into detail about the settlement.

JESSICA ALBA has joined forces with New York Congresswoman NITA LOWEY to help the politician push through a new bill to provide education for ever y child around the world.
Lowey is fighting for U.S. cash as part of the proposed Education For A ll Act, and now she has the actress supporting her cause in Washington, D ..C.
Alba, who joined the Republican in the U.S. capital on Wednesday (21Apr 10), said, "This is really a chance for us to make sure that every child gets an education. Seventy-two million children in the world don’t have a ccess to an education (and) 60 per cent of them are in Africa and most of them are girls." President Barack Obama has pledged to donate $2 billion-a-year to help fund a global education initiative - but Congresswoman Lowey insists that ’s not enough.
She says, "This legislation is a road map… If we could educate young people - those 72 million people… they would be less susceptible to ter rorists… We have a responsibility to educate everyone." Alba admits she’s "thrilled" to be part of the initiative - but there w on’t be any politics in her future: "What I see in my future is being a m om."

HEATHER LOCKLEAR’s lawyer has clarified reports the actress was involved in a hit-and-run incident with a road sign on Saturday (17Apr10), insisti ng she was not driving the car and was "never taken into custody".
The Melrose Place star was alleged to have been arrested and cited afte r failing to alert police about a collision with a post in Westlake Villa ge, California early on Saturday morning.
Ventura County Sheriff=E2=80=99s Department officials responded to call s of a one-vehicle crash and discovered a car had mounted a curb and knoc ked over a ‘no parking’ sign.
The investigation led deputies to Locklear’s home nearby and they linke d damage to her BMW to the collision, according to TMZ.com.
Locklear’s legal representative, Blair Berk, confirms the actress recei ved a citation for the incident, but is adamant her client was not behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
Berk tells TMZ.com, "Ms. Locklear was cited with a misdemeanour traffic ticket as she is the registered owner of the vehicle. She was never take n into custody.
"The matter is still being looked into as it is not yet clear who was d riving the vehicle."

LINDSAY LOHAN has failed to show up for a second court date, just a week after she ditched an all-day deposition in California because of her busy schedule.
The Mean Girls star was called upon to give evidence relating to a laws uit filed by three men, who have accused the actress of holding them host age during a drunken drive through Malibu, California in 2007.
Lohan’s accusers, Ronnie Blake, Jakon Sutter and Dante Nigro, took lega l action in 2008, insisting her actions endangered their lives.
The star was stopped after the incident by police officers, who alleged ly found cocaine in the car. Lohan later pleaded guilty to reckless drink ing and driving and served one day in jail.
She was due to attend a deposition meeting in Venice on 14 April (10) b ut turned up 90 minutes late, before she was driven off without even step ping out of the vehicle.
The deposition was rescheduled for Wednesday morning (21Apr10) - but Lo han failed to show again because she reportedly couldn’t get a ride to co urt on time.

GLEE star JANE LYNCH is thrilled MADONNA loved her tribute episode - insi sting the cast is "humbled and honoured" they won the Queen of Pop’s appr oval.
The pop superstar’s back catalogue provided the soundtrack for this wee k’s installment of the hit TV musical, with Lynch’s character, cruel chee rleading coach Sue Sylvester, making a spoof Vogue video.

HEIDI KLUM regrets planning a surprise birthday bash for her husband SEAL earlier this year (10) - because the singer was too exhausted to go alon g with her plans for a romantic getaway.

The man who attacked rocker NOEL GALLAGHER onstage in Canada in 2008 has been sentenced to a year under house arrest.
The former Oasis star was performing with the band in Toronto when Dani el Sullivan lunged at him and knocked him to the ground, leaving the guit arist with three broken ribs and prompting the Wonderwall hitmakers to ca ncel a string of shows.
Sullivan, 48, pleaded guilty to a charge of causing bodily harm in Dece mber (09), admitting he was drunk at the time of the incident and couldn’ t fully recall the evening’s events at the city’s Virgin Music Festival.
During the trial, Gallagher’s victim impact statement was read out in c ourt, in which he compared the attack to being "hit by a bus".
The rocker added, "The promotional work in connection with the launch o f the new album was very important to its success and early sales momentu m. This opportunity was lost." Sullivan returned to court in Toronto on Wednesday (21Apr10) where he w as ordered to stay home for the next 12 months.
Gallagher quit Oasis last summer (09) after a bust-up with his singer b rother Liam.
