LINDSAY LOHAN’s father planned a police-led intervention at his daughter’ s Hollywood apartment after plans to sit down and talk about the actress’ ongoing troubles fell through after her "Coachella festival binge".
Michael Lohan led a raid on Lohan’s home on Thursday (22Apr10) in a des perate bid to prompt his actress daughter to seek help for an alleged sub stance abuse issue, and to make sure his younger daughter Ali, who is liv ing with her sister, was safe.
Speaking to TMZ.com after the raid, Michael Lohan revealed his estrange d eldest daughter called him before her trip to the Coachella festival an d the two discussed plans to sit down and talk about their relationship a nd Lindsay’s problems.
He says, "We were talking about sitting down and talking, but every tim e it comes to that she goes on one of these binges.. and the next thing y ou know everything’s broken down." Lohan admitted he was shocked by the state of his eldest daughter’s apa rtment: "There’s a mattress on the floor with just sheets; there’s no fur niture and Lindsay’s laying on the bed and I said, ‘Linds, I need to spea k with you…’ She was feeling the night before.
"Lindsay got irate: ‘What are you doing here? You can’t bring police in to my apartment.’" But Lohan reveals he checked with lawmakers and his daughter’s lawyer b efore staging the dramatic intervention, and he was "within my rights and within the boundaries of the law to do what I did." The actress’ worried father tells TMZ.com he now plans to ask officials at Los Angeles’ Department of Children and Family Services for help, so he can fix his broken family.
He states, "Ali needs to be in a regular school and have a regular life …. Ali is 16. Lindsay is not in the proper frame of mind to deal with Al i… I want Ali back at home, I want Ali back in school and I want Lindsa y to get help." And he’s urging ex-wife Dina to "get on the same page" and help him.
He adds, "(I want to) get Lindsay off prescription drugs… and get the rapy for the entire therapy."

ROMAN POLANSKI’s three-decade-old sex case is rumbling on - a California appeals court has denied his victim’s petition for dismissal.
Samantha Geimer, who was 13 when the filmmaker raped her at a party at actor Jack Nicholson’s Hollywood home, petitioned the court in March (10) and asked officials to dismiss the case.
Her attorney Lawrence Silver argued recent changes to California’s cons titution gave his client more rights as a victim to influence the case.
Her lawyer wrote, "She (Geimer) is a person who is harmed by the mainte nance of the prosecution and she wants it to end." But prosecutors argued Geimer had no authority to end prosecutions.
Polanski remains under house arrest at his chalet in Gstaad, Switzerlan d.
The filmmaker was indicted on six felony counts, including rape by use of drugs, child molesting and sodomy, in 1978. He also pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse.
The Oscar winner fled the U.S. on the eve of his sentencing.
He was detained by Swiss police at a film festival last year (09), as p art of an international initiative to bring the director to justice.
Authorities are seeking Polanski’s extradition from Switzerland so he c an finally be sentenced in California.

Canadian Christians CASTING CROWNS were the big winners at Wednesday’s (2 1Apr10) Dove Awards, taking home the night’s Artist of the Year honours.
The group, who also performed at the annual celebration of gospel and i nspirational music, has claimed the event’s Group of the Year title for t he past five years. This year, that award went to South Carolina band NEE DTOBREATHE.
Sidewalk Prophets claimed the Best New Artist Dove, while Brandon Heath picked up his second successive Male Vocalist prize and Francesca Battis telli ended Natalie Grant’s four-year Female Vocalist run.
It was a very happy night for Battistelli, who also claimed the award f or Short Form Music Video (Free to be Me) and performed - she used the ev ent to announce she is pregnant.
Jennie Lee Riddle was also a double winner - she claimed Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year (By Your Side) honours.
The 41st annual Dove Awards took place in Nashville, Tennessee. Perform ers at the event also included Jordin Sparks and Grant, who duetted, and Bebe and Cece Winans.

The Free Fallin’ hitmaker has been puffing away for much of his life an d now he’s determined to quit, so he has taken to using an "electric ciga rette" device that he hopes will gently ween him off nicotine.
He tells Parade magazine, "It gives you a shot of nicotine and steam. I ‘m using these to edge off the smoking." Petty, 59, admits age, combined with poor health in recent years has ma de him think seriously about his vices: "It’s just part of getting older and realising you have to straighten up."

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN has been honoured in recognition of his career achievem ents as a rocker with Italian immigrant roots.
The Boss’ maternal great-grandmother, Raffaela Zerilli, travelled to Ne w Jersey’s Ellis Island from Vico Equense, Italy, in 1900, accompanied by her five children.
Their arrival was documented in records on Ellis Island, which once ser ved as the gateway for millions of immigrants to the U.S.
Heritage bosses at the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. chose Springsteen as their latest honoree and he celebrated his Italian a ncestry during a ceremony on Thursday (22Apr10).
The rocker turned the event into a family affair, bringing along his pr oud mother Adele, 85, and his aunts Dora Kirby, 90, and Ida Urbellis, 87, to watch as he received the Ellis Island Family Heritage Award, which is presented to immigrants or their descendants "who have made a major cont ribution to the American experience".

Tragic DJ ADAM GOLDSTEIN will make an appearance in the new IRON MAN sequ el - eight months after he died from an accidental drug overdose (Aug09).
Director Jon Favreau asked the late club icon, aka DJ AM, to appear at a party in the film and even namechecked him in the script - Robert Downe y, Jr.’s Iron Man character says, "Adam, I need a fat beat." And rather than scrap the scene following Goldstein’s death, Favreau as ked the DJ’s family if he could pay a movie tribute to the clubber.
The filmmaker says, "I was just a fan of his, just an admirer of his wo rk, and it (shoot) was supposed to be a one-day bit, but Robert took a re al shine to him, as we all did. His energy was amazing, he was such a ins piring guy and there was a lot of depth to him and this positive energy.
"He ended up staying on with us for about a week and it was just great, we set up this turntable and between takes he would give me pointers." The film will also feature a dedication to DJ AM during the end credits , according to the Los Angeles Times.
Favreau tells the publication, "When he passed it was very difficult fo r a lot of us. Our heart goes out to his family and friends and we hope w hat we’ve done is pleasing to them and to the many, many people who held Adam in high regard."

Socialite KIM KARDASHIAN suffered brutal beatings at the hands of her ex- husband DAMON THOMAS, according to newly-published court documents.
The reality TV star eloped with music producer Thomas in 2000, but the marriage soon turned nasty and she found herself being held prisoner by h er own husband.
In 2003 court documents, obtained by America’s Star magazine, Kardashia n stated the relationship became abusive "a few months after (they) were married".
Describing one particularly bad incident before a meeting with her pal Justin Timberlake, she wrote, "(We) were going skydiving with Justin Timb erlake. Before we left our home, Damon hit me in the face and cut my lip open. I fell into the bed frame and banged my knee hard. I was limping wh en we went skydiving." Kardashian also claims Thomas demanded to know her every move: "If Damo n were not home, I was required to call him and ask permission to leave t he house. He said that he wanted to know where I was at all times." The abuse allegedly continued well into their marriage, but Kardashian refused to call in the police because she was scared of what Thomas might do to her - and her fears were realised when she eventually plucked up t he courage to walk out on him.
During one encounter after their split, she says, "He threatened to kil l me, my family members and the guys that I am dating." But that wasn’t the only threat against her life and the socialite - he r ex repeated the threat at least 12 times.
She adds, "At this point, I am frightened by the stories that are repea ted to me." Thomas, who has worked with artists like Lionel Richie, Pink and Tyrese , has firmly denied all accusations.

Former child star GARY COLEMAN has reunited with his estranged wife SHANN ON PRICE just four months after the actor was arrested for allegedly atta cking her.
The Diff’rent Strokes star, 42, was taken into custody in January (10) after police were called to his Utah home following reports of a fight.
No criminal charges were filed at the time, but Coleman was cited for f ailing to appear in court for a hearing into a separate altercation invol ving his wife in April, 2009.
He pleaded guilty to one count of domestic violence criminal mischief a nd was fined $595 (=C2=A3372).
But the estranged couple appears to have patched up its differences aft er a difficult few months for Coleman, who has been hospitalised twice fo r seizures.
A source tells the National Enquirer, "Shannon has moved back in (and) Gary’s like a new person.
"Gary really thought he could die at any time and it (recent health cri sis) made him realise how much he really loves Shannon. They’ve never bee n happier and all their friends are hoping their love will stick this tim e." The couple is now focused on building a more secure future together and are reportedly setting up a dog-breeding business.
The insider adds, "They haven’t fought at all and (they) bought a dachs hund puppy to celebrate their fresh start.
"Gary and Shannon already had one dachshund and want to breed them. The y look at it as a money-making venture that they can enjoy together." The couple wed in August, 2007.

Michael explains, "Lindsay took Ali to the Coachella Music Festival thi s past weekend and drove home at 115 miles per hour.
"I went to the police department concerned about Ali’s welfare. I wante d to check on Ali. I want to make sure she’s OK. She’s 16 and she doesn’t belong there! She’s a minor.
"Ali is being exposed to nightlife and the people Lindsay is surroundin g herself with." Michael Lohan also reveals he’s planning to meet with his troubled daug hter’s attorneys to discuss the possibility of obtaining a conservatorshi p over Lindsay.

Hip-hop producer SOLAR has blasted rumours he was secret lovers with late rap icon GURU, insisting the best pals have always been "straight" men.
Guru, one half of pioneering rap duo Gang Starr, was admitted to a New York hospital in February (10) after suffering a heart attack and slippin g into a coma. He was diagnosed with anoxia, a condition where the body l acks an adequate supply of oxygen.
He passed away on Monday (19Apr10) and it was only then that it was rev ealed he had also been fighting a private battle with cancer.
Solar became the tragic star’s official spokesman following his hospita lisation but came under fire from friends and relatives of Guru, real nam e Keith Elam, who claimed the producer had banned them from visiting him - allegations he denies.
Rumours have since spread about the depth of their relationship - but S olar is adamant any suggestions they were romantically involved are unfou nded.
He tells MTV News, "I don’t want to say anything against anybody living a certain type of lifestyle - everybody is free to live their life how t hey choose to live it - but that (being gay)’s not my lifestyle or Guru’s lifestyle. We’re straight men. He dealt with women and family. I dealt w ith women and family. There’s never been any blurring of the lines whatso ever."
