KELIS returned to the stage for the first time since becoming a new mum l ast year (09) on Wednesday night (21Apr10) in New York.
The colourful R&B star took a break from her bitter divorce battle with estranged husband Nas to hit the stage at Santos Party House in Manhatta n - for the first time in four years.
Wearing a figure-hugging white body suit, cape and tiara, the Milkshake singer raced through classics and new tunes like 22nd Century, 4th of Ju ly and Brave, which she wrote after becoming mum to baby Knight.
She even threw in a rendition of Madonna’s Holiday.

JEAN FLIES HAITIANS TO AMERICA TO GET ARTIFICIAL LIMBS

WYCLEF JEAN is continuing to support survivors of January’s (10) Haiti ea rthquake - he’s flying three victims to America so they can receive artif icial limbs.
The former Fugees star has been one of the key figures leading the reli ef efforts in his homeland, which was left devastated by the massive trem or.
Jean has now stepped up his efforts by inviting three females who were seriously injured during the quake to the U.S., according to AllHipHop.co m.
The survivors, one eight year old and two 17 year olds, flew to New Yor k with the rapper on Thursday night (22Apr10) and will receive free artif icial limbs during their visit, funded through his Yele Haiti foundation.

MASKED THE COVE STAR RETURNS TO JAPAN

Marine activist RIC O’BARRY had to wear a mask to cover his face during a recent TV expose about Japan’s dolphin killers - because he feared attac k from fishermen who recognised him as one of the men behind Oscar-winnin g documentary THE COVE.
O’Barry agreed to take Oprah show TV cameras back to the hamlet where T he Cove is set as long as he could keep his identity under wraps.
The special, which aired as part of Oprah Winfrey’s Earth Day programme on Thursday (22Apr10), followed up on developments chronicled in The Cov e, which documented Japan’s annual bottle-nosed dolphin slaughter.
O’Barry said, "The fishermen told me… ‘If the world finds out what go es on here, we’ll be shut down.’" The activist confessed he feels obliged to help the world’s dolphins - because he helped capture and train them for beloved TV show Flipper in t he 1960s.
He revealed, "Now, if there’s a dolphin in trouble, anywhere in the wor ld, my phone will ring.
"I feel somewhat responsible because it was the Flipper TV series that created this multi-billion dollar industry."

CAMPBELL’S BOYFRIEND CONFIRMS ENGAGEMENT?

British supermodel NAOMI CAMPBELL’s Russian billionaire lover VLADIMIR DO RONIN has confirmed reports the pair is planning to marry, according to a Russian report.
The catwalk beauty sparked rumours of an engagement to Doronin in 2008 after she was pictured attending a lavish magazine party in Moscow sporti ng a large emerald ring on her wedding finger.
Campbell’s representative dismissed the rumours, but speculation contin ued.
The model herself denied reports of an impending wedding in January (10 ), but now Doronin has confirmed the couple is set to wed.
Speaking to online Russian publication life.ru, the tycoon refused to g o into into details about the big day, but spoke candidly about the coupl e’s bridesmaid choice: "I can’t say it took us long to decide who will be bridesmaid. We are good friends with (Russian entrepreneur) Dasha Zhukov a, she is a wonderful person and talented designer. So she will be next t o Naomi at our wedding." Doronin did not confirm when the wedding will take place.
The couple has been dating since May 2008.

BABYBIRD HIRE BODYGUARDS TO ALLOW DEPP TO PERFORM

British rockers BABYBIRD have hired a team of bodyguards to take charge o f security at their summer shows (10) - so Hollywood star JOHNNY DEPP can join them on stage, according to a U.K. report.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star is a big fan of the group - he funded the recording of their latest album and even joined the musicians in the studio to play guitar on a track and direct the promo for it.
But when Depp asked to join the rockers on their U.K. tour last month ( Mar10), frontman Stephen Jones admitted they scrapped the plans over secu rity fears.
The group has now reportedly drafted in two former SAS soldiers to prov ide extra protection so the actor can perform onstage with them at a sele ct few gigs and festival slots throughout June and July (10), according t o Britain’s The Sun.
A source tells the publication, "These guys can handle any situation. B abybird concerts are usually pretty good natured, but it only takes one idiot."

ACTOR SUES OSCARS BOSSES FOR ALLEGED FALSE IMPRISONMENT

Academy Award bosses have been hit with a $50 million (=C2=A333 million) lawsuit from a Hollywood newcomer, who alleges he and his wife were false ly imprisoned at this year’s (10) Oscars ceremony.
Michael AvMen, who is set to star opposite Kate Bosworth in upcoming fi lm Straw Dogs and in Michelle Rodriguez’s movie Battle: Los Angeles, clai ms he was given two "tentatively confirmed" tickets to the 7 March (10) e vent.
He was allegedly led to believe his passes were being held inside the v enue - but claims he and his wife were "held against their will" for six hours in a "detention centre" upon arriving at Los Angeles’ Kodak Theatre for the big show.
Officials then interrogated the pair about how they managed to get on t he red carpet, accusing them of trespassing, according to the lawsuit fil ed on Thursday (22Apr10) at the Central District Superior Court in Califo rnia.
The couple is said to have been taken to a police station, but no charg es were filed, reports FoxNews.com.
AvMen is now suing executives at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for "illegal false imprisonment" and "intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress".
The document claims the couple "sustained injury to his and her body an d shock and injury to their nervous system" as a result of their treatmen t and have since suffered "humiliation, mental anguish and emotional and physical distress".
AvMen is determined to win the legal battle against Oscars organisers, insisting their security efforts were unacceptable.
In a statement, he says, "If I or some ‘regular’ individual acted as Th e Academy did, we would be in prison right now. I want, and I will show t hat these people aren’t above the law. Security is one thing, but this wa s outside the realm of excessive. My wife and I have suffered, and there has been a great injustice enforced."

106-YEAR-OLD SINGER SETTLES SUIT OVER NAZI PERFORMANCE

A 106-year-old Dutch singer has settled a lawsuit against a German filmma ker who accused him of performing for Nazi guards at a concentration camp during World War II.
Johannes Heesters filed suit against German author and documentarian Vo lker Kuehn in a Berlin state court in 2008 after the filmmaker went publi c with claims the singer performed for SS troops at Dachau concentration camp in 1941.
The singer’s initial bid for a retraction and an injunction was turned down, but he appealed the decision.
On Thursday (22Apr10), court officials announced Kuehn had agreed to st op calling the singer a liar, and Heesters had dropped his case.
Kuehn has not retracted his statements.
Heesters also agreed to pay the cost of the legal proceedings. (JMA/WNW

SCHERZINGER KEEN TO LAUNCH MUSICAL CAMP FOR SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS

PUSSYCAT DOLLS star NICOLE SCHERZINGER is keen to start a music camp for kids with special needs - and dedicate it to her aunt, who suffers from D own syndrome.
The pop star hopes to team up with Los Angeles radio personality Todd M ichael Krim to give disabled kids and Down syndrome youngsters a special place to sing and learn to play instruments.
And it’s all thanks to her aunt.
Scherzinger says, "I grew up with my aunt, who is actually younger than me because my grandmother had her at an older age, and she has Down synd rome.
"She has always had a special place in my heart and is such a wonderful addition to our family, so when Todd asked me if I was passionate about any charities or causes, I immediately thought of her.
"I want to bring awareness to how special people with Down syndrome are …. I used to tell my girls in the Pussycat Dolls that I would have my ow n musical camp or school where I would teach people with special disabili ties or Down syndrome."

LA ROUX’S TOUR DELAYED OVER VOLCANO

British double act LA ROUX have been forced to delay the start of their u pcoming U.K. tour as a result of the chaos following a volcano eruption i n Iceland last week (15Apr10).
The Bulletproof hitmakers were due to start their trek in Southampton, England on Friday (25Apr10), but they have now pushed back the date becau se of the complications surrounding the eruption, which grounded all flig hts to and from Europe over the weekend.
La Roux were also scheduled to perform in Reading on Saturday (26Apr10) night, but they have rescheduled the show for 04 May (10), while the Sou thampton gig will now take place on 13 June (10).
Tickets for the original shows will still be valid for the new dates.

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and SIMON COWELL will be smiling through the economic slump - they’ve made millions in the last 12 months as the U.K
. music ind ustry shows the green shoots of recovery.
Last year (09), the global financial crisis hit record labels hard, wit h rockers including McCartney and Sir Elton John losing huge chunks of th eir fortune.
But the industry appears to be moving out of the slump - according to B ritain’s Sunday Times annual rich list, some top earners have seen their income soar in the last 12 months.
Beatles legend McCartney’s wealth rose to $712 million (=C2=A3475 milli on) from $660 million (=C2=A3440 million), while the Rocket Man’s fortune is at $277 million (=C2=A3185 million), an increase of $15 million (=C2=A3 10 million)
. Music mogul Cowell is now worth $247 million (=C2=A3165 mill ion) compared to $180 million (=C2=A3120 million) last year.
But it was a miserable 12 months for impresario Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webbe r - he lost $75 million (=C2=A350 million) from his $1.1 billion (=C2=A37 50 million) fortune.
The list is topped by Warner Music Group chief executive Edgar Bronfman , who became eligible by moving from New York to London last year (09) - pushing record label boss Clive Calder down to second place.
In the rich list of British music stars aged under 30, Girls Aloud sing er Cheryl Cole enjoyed a bumper 12 months - her blossoming solo career an d soaring exposure from her role as a judge on TV talent show The X Facto r caused her fortune to increase by a massive 150 per cent, to $15 millio n (=C2=A310 million)
. Charlotte Church tops the young rich list, with $16 ..5 million (=C2=A311 million).

Actor BRIAN AUSTIN GREEN can see a bright business future for enterprisin g his - because the eight year old has already set up his first company.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star admits young Kassius has no intere st in following his dad into showbusiness; he’s set on making money fast and has created his own trading cards to sell at school.
He says, "I think he’ll end up being much more of an entrepreneur. He r ecently started a corporation at school… with his three best friends an d they are starting with trading cards. They created their own trading ca rds that they draw and cut out and sell. And they’ve now staffed up to 10 people.
"They haven’t sold any cards yet because they haven’t mastered them yet .. They’re starting small with cards but eventually they’ll be doing video games and web design and things like that. I’m serious. He’s eight, it’s crazy." But Green discovered his kid had yet to figure out he had to share his profits with his team of employees - and now the actor feels guilty his s on will have to let some of his workers go.
He adds, "I said, ‘I think it’s great you have this corporation, but yo u understand there’s profit sharing if you have a staff of 10. How much a re you selling your cards for?’ He said, ‘A dollar’. So, I was like, ‘You realise you’ll only make 10 cents per card?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, we might have to cut back on some people.’ So, because of me, some of his fr iends might get fired!"

CROWE HELPS FAN SHOOT STRAIGHT FOR LONDON TRIP=20

RUSSELL CROWE showed off his archery skills on U.S. TV on Thursday (22Apr 10) in a bid to promote his new ROBIN HOOD movie.
The actor agreed to help a fan win a trip to the London premiere of his new film during pal Ellen DeGeneres’ daily TV show - and brought along " a prop bow" from the set of the movie, in which he plays the medieval her o.
Crowe coached the fan, named Cara, and helped her hit a target, which w on her the prize.
The actor revealed he was supposed to appear on the show from London vi a Skype - but Europe’s volcano ash storm kept him from making the trip.
The actor had to postpone a string of U.K. TV appearances when all plan es to and from Europe were grounded because of the Iceland volcano erupti on.
DeGeneres explained, "Here’s what was supposed to happen; we were gonna talk to you from London… but you couldn’t make it, could you?" Crowe explained, "Unless I was prepared to swim… The whole schedule g ot blown up in a cloud of volcanic ash."

O’BARRY: ‘FLIPPER COMMITTED SUICIDE’

Dolphin trainer-turned-marine activist RIC O’BARRY decided to dedicate hi s life to saving porpoises and whales after watching the star of 1960s TV show FLIPPER take her own life.
O’Barry helped to capture and train dolphins for the beloved TV show, b ut stopped hunting the creatures down when the star of the series stopped breathing rather than live in captivity.
The man behind hard-hitting Oscar-winning documentary The Cove, admits he’s still haunted by the last moments of the dolphins life.
He explains, "She was really depressed… You have to understand dolphi ns and whales are not air breathers like we are. Every breath they take i s a conscious effort. They can end their life whenever.
"She swam into my arms and looked me right in the eye, took a breath an d didn’t take another one. I let her go and she sank straight down on her belly to the bottom of the tank.
"The next day I was in jail for trying to free the dolphin - that’s how I reacted to it. I was gonna free every captive dolphin I could." (KL/WN

LOHAN TOLD SHE MUST SHOW UP FOR MAY DEPOSITION

LINDSAY LOHAN has been given one more chance to voluntarily appear in cou rt.
The actress has missed two deposition hearings in relation to a 2007 jo yride through Malibu, California and now she has been told there will be no more excuses and she must arrive in court on 4 May (10).
Three men are suing the actress, accusing her of kidnapping and endange ring their lives. The trio claims Lohan jumped into a vehicle they were p assengers in and took off on a wild ride along the Pacific Coast Highway.
She was due to attend a deposition meeting in Venice on 14 April (10) b ut turned up 90 minutes late, before she was driven off without even step ping out of the vehicle.
The deposition was rescheduled for Wednesday morning (21Apr10) - but Lo han failed to show again because she reportedly couldn’t get to court on time.

JOHNSON ESTATE HIT WITH CREDITOR’S CLAIM

Tragic socialite CASEY JOHNSON’s estate has been hit with a creditor’s cl aim from bosses at a rehab clinic.
The 30-year-old Johnson & Johnson heiress was found dead at her Los Ang eles home in January (10) and now her meagre estate could be wiped out if lawyers representing Renaissance Malibu in California win a bid to recou p $74,750 (=C2=A349,833) in unpaid bills.
According to legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com, Johnson checked into th e luxury rehabilitation clinic in August (09) and left owing the cash.
Doctors at the clinic claim Johnson spent more than 30 days receiving t reatment and therapy there.
