EBERT GOES PUBLIC WITH ‘LOST’ SEX PISTOLS SCRIPT FOR WHO KILLED BAMBI?=20

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:36 pm

Revered U.S. movie critic ROGER EBERT has gone public with a forgotten sc reenplay for a SEX PISTOLS movie the punk band’s manager MALCOLM MCLAREN commissioned him to write - three decades ago.
Ebert penned the script for a planned Russ Meyer movie, titled Who Kill ed Bambi?, in 1977. The film was scrapped after only two days of shooting due to financial constraints and the band split before producer McLaren could come up with the funds to restart the project.
Following the punk svengali’s death earlier this month (Apr10), Ebert h as opted to pay an odd tribute by posting a full transcript of the screen play on his blog.
In an accompanying note, the movie critic writes, "It (screenplay) was tailored for the historic punk rock band the Sex Pistols, and was to be d irected by Russ Meyer and produced by the impresario Malcolm McLaren. It still carried its original title, Anarchy in the U.K., although shortly a fter I phoned up with a suggested title change, which was accepted: Who K illed Bambi? "All I intend to do here is reprint it. Comments are open, but I can’t discuss what I wrote, why I wrote it, or what I should or shouldn’t have written." Not all the footage shot was lost - a video of the film’s title song, W ho Killed Bambi?, starring Eddie Tudor Pole, featured in Julien Temple’s 1980 Pistols film The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle.
