Acclaimed British songwriter SIR TIM RICE is fuming over plans for a holi day development next to his $3.75 million (=C2=A32.5 million) estate in S cotland.
The Oscar winner has signed a letter opposing an official application f or a 20-bed eco-lodge with additional cottages for guests.
Rice claims the property will be damaging to the environment, adding th at the development is "full of good intentions but contains many shortcom ings".
He explains, "If it were truly ecologically sound it would not be on a greenfield site in the middle of an environmentally sensitive area." However, his objections have been met with fury from the developer behi nd the application, Becky Thomson, who claims the composer is rarely at h is Scottish home.
She tells Britain’s Daily Telegraph, "(He is) an absentee landlord who is only here one or two weeks a year. I think the main objection is from (Rice’s estranged wife) Jane because she does not want to lose her privac y and she thinks people will be looking at her house."
