LIFESON INDIFFERENT ABOUT HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
RUSH guitarist ALEX LIFESON refuses to endorse a fan campaign for his ban d to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, insisting the honour has "never been important" to the group.
Fans of the Subdivisions hitmakers have been campaigning hard for Rush to be honoured next to Elvis and The Beatles as the band closes in on its 42nd year anniversary this August (10).
Rush has been credited with influencing rock icons including Metallica, Primus and The Smashing Pumpkins - but Lifeson insists he "couldn’t care less" about the honour.
He tells U.S. magazine Time Out New York, "This Rock and Roll Hall of F ame thing, this constant talk about us not being inducted. We couldn’t ca re less, really. That’s never been important to us.
"Obviously, we take the music seriously and we try to play the best tha t we can. But we’ve always been very lighthearted about the band itself."
