RAY HAILS CANCER TREATMENT A ‘REBIRTH’
Bollywood star LISA RAY feels "reborn" after undergoing radical stem-cell treatment to help her beat cancer.
Last June (09) the Kasoor star was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a r are type of bone marrow cancer which is usually incurable, with treatment s focusing on keeping the disease contained.
In a blog announcement last September (09), Ray insisted she would not give up battling her cancer - defiantly stating she was "aiming for full remission".
She wrote, "I didn’t react and I didn’t cry. That’s how I felt after th e diagnosis: ‘OK, I’ve got The Cancer. The tough part is over.
"Myeloma is incurable… (but) I believe it can be cured… That’s the Dirty Realist in me… I’m aiming for Full Remission… I am humbled and inspired." In a new interview with Reuters, the 38 year old praises the groundbrea king stem-cell treatment she has received.
She says, "This (cancer) has hijacked my life for long enough and now I am going to take matters into my own hands.
"It’s really been a kind of rebirth (treatment). It’s like being reborn from the inside out. It’s a big cleaning from the middle of your marrow and spreading out." And Ray insists even losing her famed glossy locks has been a positive experience: "My hair is coming back and it is looking awesome right now. I am just loving it. It is the sleekest and most well-put together I have ever looked. But I have enjoyed being bald."
