Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

KERRY WASHINGTON and JAMES SPADER’s Broadway play RACE has been deemed a huge success - theatre bosses have recouped their $2.5 million (=C2=A31.6 million) production costs just four months after it opened.
The controversial David Mamet play, about a pair of lawyers asked to de fend a white man accused of raping a black woman, opened in New York last December (09). The production also stars David Alan Grier and Richard Th omas.
And the show has been such a big hit with New York theatre fans, produc ers have already earned back their multi-million dollar investment, accor ding to producer Jeffrey Richards.
Race joins a small group of Broadway plays that have defied the odds of a worldwide financial crisis to become financial successes this season - including Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig’s drama, A Steady Rain.
Race is scheduled to end its limited engagement on 13 June (10). (JMA/D
