BRAD PITT missed a ceremony honouring his brother’s charity work after he was stranded in Europe following the closure of airspace across the cont inent.
The star’s younger sibling, Doug, has been appointed Goodwill Ambassado r to Tanzania in recognition of his humanitarian work in Africa.
The country’s President, Jakaya Kikwete, threw a party for Doug in New York on Monday (19Apr10) - but his famous sibling was unable to attend, a ccording to JustJared.com Pitt was stuck in Europe because of the ongoing travel chaos caused by the Icelandic volcano eruption last week (ends18Apr10). More than 63,000 flights have been grounded because of the thick ash clouds, but limited s ervices are now running.
