POWDERFINGER’s last ever European tour is facing cancellation as a result of the volcanic eruption in Iceland - the Australian rockers fear they w on’t be able to fly to the continent to begin the trek on Wednesday (21Ap r10).
The band announced earlier this month (Apr10) they are set to part ways , revealing the Sunsets tour in their native country later this year (10) will be their last.
The group was due to fly to Ireland on Sunday (18Apr10) to start their shows in Dublin later this week (21Apr10) - but they have so far been una ble to get on a plane as most flights to northern Europe have been ground ed.
But Powderfinger’s manager, Paul Piticco, is hoping the band will be ab le to fly to Europe soon in order to perform the scheduled dates.
He says, "We’re waiting like everyone else to see when we can get on a flight. At this point we’re still holding out hope that if it clears mira culously we will make the London shows and reschedule Dublin. We are re-e valuating the situation constantly and urge people to keep an eye on our website."
